Cons: - No a/c - really warm. They cannot add a/c ducting or holes to the outside because the site is a Class 1 Heritage site, i.e. historic site. However, why can't they add portable units?
- Tired rooms. The tiling is old, the shower is old and water gets all over the floor, the upstairs tv didn't work right, and the layout of the bathroom is so small.
- Based on the tired rooms, this is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. More like 3.

Cons: We were not offered a children’s menu. The single beds were too close to a small hand rail, which was unsafe access for children we were traveling with, perhaps staff could have offered an alternative room when we checked in. Or the website could have been more informative, The room was freezing. One heater did not work, which left us with a column heater. Cleanliness could have been better, and the facilities are looking tired.

Cons: The place was incredibly loud and my husband was kept awake all night by banging and crashing. I have stayed before and when staying on higher floors there was no noise at all. Also, it was extremely expensive given the room and facilities and the noise, almost $100 per night more than I paid 2 months earlier. Very disappointed

Cons: We had to wait half an hour for a waiter to come take our order for dinner, after which, it took another 30-45 mins for the food to come. The breakfast was appalling too - the selection was so basic, it’s almost a disgrace to be called a Small Luxury Hotel. The room promised a “garden view” but all you could see were a couple of trees in their garden and the windows of the neighboring homes. You’ll definitely be better off spending your money elsewhere. Avoid.

Cons: Nothing not to like, the wind was a bit strong to sit on the deck space but the big sliding window in the room more than made up for that. A truly wonderful stay, will definitely stay again!

Pros: We stayed at the Colombo on our last night in New Zealand. The room was very clean and roomy. Good size bathroom with strong water pressure and lots of hot water. Our room has a small back patio for some morning air. Great location, walking distance from the heart of town and close to the new hot strip on Victoria Street where we had dinner at the King of Snake (also recommend). The complex was quiet and even with the International Cricket Festivities we had a great nights sleep before our long flight home. We asked for a late check out and even though there were fully booked they were able to accommodate. For what we needed which was not a lot, this was the perfect spot.

Cons: We did not like our experience upon arrival. The gentleman who worked at the reception was not welcoming at all. He did not even welcome us but asked for our last name first. He asked us to sign a paper, pay and that was it. He did not explain about the facilities, breakfast, Wi-Fi options or even explain what directions to walk to go to our rooms. We did not feel welcome. Disappointing. The facilities our good and clean. The people behind the desk in the morning were friendly and attentive. Besides that one incident, we do recommend this hostel.

Pros: We had a lovely large modern room on their 10th floor which was very comfortable and included a really nice sized double queen bed, a separate large walk in shower which was just divine and I could have stayed in their all day it was just so lovely, as well as 24 room service, a very well stocked drinks fridge and plenty of in-room tea & coffee facilities and a lovely large window overlooking the city. Also we enjoyed their delicious morning buffet breakfast's which catered for everyone's tastes and dined in their lovely restaurant both of the evenings that we stayed there and we would highly recommend this hotel to others as very centrally located for catching the tram and seeing all the sights in Christchurch. Thank you

Pros: The location was good.
Cons: I did not like there service at all. Their kitchen was close the day we arrived. As we arrived late there wasn't any other option rather than order through Uber. That cost us extra money. They said the kitchen was under renovation however when my husband went down to receive the food from the Uber driver he saw the receptionist guy taking food for someone else. That’s the height of discrimination I felt. Their bathroom and furniture's are below average compare with the price they are charging to the customer. Their hotels look nice from the outside but the rooms are very average. We will not recommend Novotel to anyone.

Cons: There was only one minor point and that was there was no sink in the bathroom and we both would have preferred to have been able to wash our hands directly after using the bathroom facilities, but instead we had to leave the bathroom to wash our hands in the sink out in the side lobby, so a small sink would have been nice to have in the bathroom as well. Thank you
