The building was unrecognisable, covered in scaffolding
Very convenient location I liked the room-only option Quiet (but this was October so perhaps there were few guests)
The almost total absence of reception staff. Despite having explained that I might be late, when I phoned from the delayed train I was told that the member of staff on duty would only wait half an hour. This made my arrival (I have a disability so move slowly) very stressful. I was then rushed to my room (initially upstairs though I had been promised a ground floor one) and simply left to it. There was an emergency telephone number but no phone and nowhere to call for minor problems.
The staff were friendly and helpful and room comfortable.
The tea cups, tea spoon and sink in the bathroom weren't clean.. I was disappointed about that.
The chap that checked us in personally showed us to our room which was a nice thing. For £60 a night the facilities were good. Great location if you don’t mind a little walk into town. Additionally the NCP car park down the road is useful and reasonable at £8 for 24 hours.
The shower in the room wasn’t the best. The shower head fell down several time during a shower, and the space within the bathroom was very compact.
The room needs a proper clean, especially on top of the wardrobe.
