    Good location

Unfortunately the hotel is looking a bit old and tired in terms of decoration. Just old fashioned , dark and drab .

The hotel's location is amazing - few minutes walk from famous city center attractions and sights, and also a very convenient spot to get anywhere from. The staff is extremely helpful, being a foreigner I was helped a lot by their manager to make sure I will be allowed to go to a famous sightseeing places without a problem during the pandemic. The hotel room is clean, the bed is soft, and lights are great to control.

I was quite disappointed by the size of the bathtub - it's either my legs or my upper body could be in the water at a time. It is a very small bath, even for a smaller person. If taking a bath means a lot for you like for me, then you might consider other options.

    location

Old and worn down carpets and furniture, lots of stains and scratches, bathrooms old and not maintained (see pics!). We didn't like that at the check-in they explicitely say you get an upgrade and then you find yorself in a room like this. If our room on the 20th floor was an "upgrade", I wonder how the booked "deluxe room" must look like - or if they just weren't honest with us?!

Locationwise it was a good stay. We could walk to some interesting spots like the "Broad and Narrow Alleys", the art quarter, the "Taikooli" (shopping and restaurant place). There is a lot of hotel options in that zone, though...

The hotel seems pretty impressive from the outside, but inside you quickly realize that it must be quite old and would urgently need major renovation - at least in the floors we had seen. We staid two nights in total - with a break in between for a weekend in the mountains. For the first night, we had booked the basic category "Superior room, non-smoker", for the second stay (which originally should be two nights but after we knew the place we changed it to only one) we had chosen "Deluxe double room, non-smoker". At the first check-in, the receptionist told us he would give us an upgrade and said he was hoping for a nice review for this! Happily we went up with the lift to find ourselves in a smoker floor with a twin bed room. So we turned back to complain as this was not be the sort of upgrade we were expecting. Ended up in 20th floor in a tiny room with a queenbed, but, well, it should be for one night only and booked was the basic category, so what! Furniture was really old, very worn, the footrest of the orange colored armchair full of dark stains, the nightstand scratched, bathroom very old, no shower, just a tub with a curtain. Two days later similiar scenario: we were told we would get an upgrade and clearly now we were excpecting something nice, as the original category had been "deluxe" already. We ended up on the 20th floor again, two rooms away from the first one, same tiny size, same worn furniture!! We were just happy that we had already changed the stay to one furhter night only instead of two. As we were tired, we had a look at their restaurants on the top floor. Carpets and "design concept" simillar to the one of rooms and floors - sort of a travel back in time. I only say, we preferred to walk... Don't get me wrong, I like Crown Plazas, the one we staid before in Beijing (Sun Palace) was fabulous.

This is a great place to stay in Chengdu. Conveniently located and not far from any of the places we wanted to go. The staff were very helpful, particularly Sky at the front desk who helped us several times with booking cars and making plans. The pool is absolutely gorgeous and we wished we had an extra day to enjoy it more. Breakfast didn't have many options for vegetarians and one morning there was ham in an omelet we'd asked for with only vegetables (we'd asked in Chinese so not a language error.) Apart from that our stay was fantastic and we would choose this hotel again.

More appetizing Western options at breakfast and more vegetarian options in general in the restaurant. As mentioned above, we had ham in a vegetarian omelet.
