Vehicle was great. It seems like there is not good communication between the local Hertz office and Kayak when it comes to charges and insurance offerings. I also have an injury and was forced to walk a good distance to pickup the car and drop it off. It seems like with three guys standing around one of them could bring the car up to the temporary parking area or have it ready.

Pros:

The car was clean & ready - but one tire was seriously low on air. The Hertz employee went above and beyond and had it repaired in short order by a local tire shop. Drop off was a breeze.

Cons:

An excellent experience with great caring staff. What more could I ask for? All rental car agencies charge a significant premium for full size SUV's - so it was quite pricey.

I wasn't able to use the vehicle because the rental agency (rentalcars.com) didn't make it clear that an actual credit card (not a debit card) was required. Hertz wouldn't rent to me and rentalcars.com wouldn't refund the money. Rentalcars.com only said that I needed to bring the payment card, and in the fine print, it said an actual credit card was necessary.

One way rental Helena was good agency no complaints O'Hare Budget overcharged extra 2 days ! I had to pass time on phone & email to get it PARTLY resolved I still have to fight for all daily fees that are as I write this counted 2 days extra

The car was fine, although it had obviously been smoked in and the smell poorly covered up. The counter people were great for the most part. Trying to deal with the website and the phone system that won't allow calls to anything but a call center staffed by people whose first language isn't english was a nightmare. Won't be renting from Budget ever again.

Picked up SUV and was told that a crack was in the windshield and it was on back order.I had an appointment so left with the vehicle. I couldn’t believe Alamo would rent with such a large crack. It was in my sight line and I returned it the next day. They only offered me a small Sadan. I ask for a credit of some sort since it was not an SUV that I originally rented. The clerk was very rude. She did state I would receive a 200 $ credit. Will never rent from Alamo again.

Turned in my car and accidentally left my $300 sunglasses on the console. Walked down the stairs and realized I left them in the car so turned around and walked back up the stairs to the return staging area. Upon which the car had already been taken "off the lot" the attendant said and it is not possible to get my sunglasses back. She told me that I had to file a report with the desk inside the airport in order to get them back. Went inside the airport and then waited for 15 minutes in line to talk to an attendant about my lost sunglasses. He then told me to fill out a form and that I would get a call when they found them and that they would have to ship them to me at my expense. And is expected it's been four days and I have not received a call and have tried to call Avis about my sunglasses with zero success. Basically, the attendant or whoever cleans the cars after rentals, stole my sunglasses and Avis will not take accountability. Custom service at its finest!!!

I had a business meeting in Vancouver, WA on Friday at 1:00 pm. I was at my sons in Olympia when I discovered I had a flat tire in the rental car. I called Avis and was directed to their emergency roadside service. They told me it would be 55 minutes and then a tech would be there to fix the flat. He didn’t come for 5 hours. I missed my meeting. They didn’t have any sense of urgency to assist me.

Pros:

Cahill and Silas found me a good rate and cleaned the car before giving it to me. My Ford Explorer had Sirius/XM, which was fun as I drove across the country.

Cons:

On a car with fewer than 2,000 miles, I was astonished to get a flat tire. Even worse, it turned out that my rental had no spare tire! No full-size, no "doughnut" size either! Roadside assistance was courteous, but it was estimated to be 4-5 hours before a new vehicle could be delivered. Instead, I drove to a nearby Sears Tire store. Still, the flat delayed my trip by 3.5 hours.
