Location and look if the property.
Staff were polite but not friendly,
The hotel was beautiful and had a historic charm. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The location was perfect as we could walk to everything we wanted to see.
The room was a bit small and very warm! It was crowded for 4 people but we didn't spend much time in the room.
Location was central and an easy walk into the centre and waterfront. Breakfast very good and well priced.
For a hotel of this standard it amazed me that there was no one to help with luggage! The car parking is mainly behind the hotel and this is unclear. Bringing bags into the hotel means carrying them up about five steps, there is a ramp but access to the hotel via this means struggling between people sitting on the terrace - not good! In room 222 the curtains were all frayed on the edges, again not something to expect from this standard. Finally, the hot water wasn't functioning one day - I accept that these things can happen but there was no apology at all about this situation on checking out.
Great location and friendly staff
The rooms are very dated and need to be brought up to date
From the moment you step into the grand lobby of this historic property with its marble floors and barrel vaulted ceilings you will be surrounded by the historic elegance. Built in 1932 by CN Railways, it is a class apart from all other Island hotels. All rooms are tastefully decorated with modern amenities, a truly distinctive hotel.
