My wife and I loved the location, it was easy access to Historic Charleston. We also liked the parking availability.

The temperature in the room was not well controlled. The unit was extremely loud. We had some pleasant temperatures in the 70's and 80's while visiting. We kept the unit on lowest temp with highest fan and the unit could not keep room comfortable.

Very friendly and informed staff, and super central location.

Surprised the hotel did'nt have a restaurant, except for small breakfast offering.

The staff and location were excellent. The rooms were a bit small. Great for walking around the historical district. We can't say enough about the front desk personal especially the young man on Tuesday night when we checked in. Very helpful with finding a place to eat and dealing with some minor requests. A bit pricey .

About

Overview

The King Charles Inn is located in Charleston’s Historic District and dates back to the early 19th century. Originally the home of the Pavilion Hotel, this hotel hosted Edgar Allen Poe when he served as a soldier at Fort Moultrie nearby. The King Charles Inn was built in the same space in 1958 and has a rich history in a beautiful part of South Carolina.

Parking is entirely free for guests at the King Charles Inn, as is high-speed Wi-Fi, coffee during breakfast, tea and cookie service at night, and passes to Pivotal Fitness. It also hosts an evening reception featuring artisan cheeses and other accompaniments. There is an outdoor pool with a sundeck and terrace, along with a business center, and concierge services.

Each room is beautifully appointed, and guests can choose from a traditional double bed room, traditional queen, traditional king, and a deluxe king room. The hotel also offers king junior suites as well as two-double bed rooms for those who need the extra space. Inside the rooms, you can expect a large LCD television, Keurig coffeemaker, coffee pods, iron, hairdryer, and a mini refrigerator. Guests also have access to bottled water, an iHome iPod, and an iPhone docking station.

Guests don’t need to leave this majestic space to enjoy great Charleston dining as BREW Pub and Café is on-site. This café offers a hearty breakfast with items like chocolate croissants, homemade quiches, and egg sandwiches. Later in the day, guests can sample locally crafted wine, beer, and spirits while enjoying terrace seating overlooking the pool.

FAQs when booking at King Charles Inn

What is the best way to reach the King Charles Inn from the airport?
There are both good public transportation options as well as driving connections to the King Charles Inn from Charleston International Airport. If you come by car, the journey will take about 20 to 30m. Take the I-26 until exit 221B. From here, continue on one of the two right lanes to merge onto Meeting Street, where the hotel will appear on the right hand side. Public transport will take about 45m with the XP3 line to Downtown Charleston. Exit at Visitors Center/Charleston Museum and walk the remaining 10m on foot to the hotel.
Does the King Charles Inn feature activities?
To explore the surrounding area in your own time, guests can rent a bike from the on-site bike rental at the hotel. Bike rentals come at an additional charge of approximately $6 for the first hour and about $3 for each subsequent hour. The hotel concierges are also happy to help provide a map with bike trails or help you complete the rental booking. Guests can also enjoy a discount at the nearby fitness club EcoFitness to work out.
Does the King Charles Inn provide rollaway beds or cribs for children?
Although all children are welcome to stay, extra beds cannot be accommodated by the King Charles Inn. However, the hotel features adjoining rooms if families need more space, with either a king-size bed in one and a double bed in the other, or two rooms with double beds in each. Cribs are available free of charge for infants.
Does the King Charles Inn hotel restaurant have any specials deals?
The Brew Pub offers delectable pub grub and also gives you the opportunity to indulge in a selection of drinks for less. From 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, the pub hosts a Happy Hour where guests can get $1 off any drink they order to accompany complimentary cheese and cracker platters served.
Does the King Charles Inn offer packages for couples?
Charleston counts as one of the most romantic cities in this area, so it is understandable that the King Charles Inn features an extensive couple’s program, among which are packages to enhance the stay. The Royal Engagement Package, for example, features luxurious accommodation and transfer to the Charleston Tea Plantation, where a romantic dinner awaits with champagne and musicians to serenade you during a scrumptious meal for two. A horse-drawn carriage and a romantically decked hotel room are also part of the deal for the perfect getaway to pop the question and to celebrate your love.
Can guests buy tickets for nearby attractions at the King Charles Inn reception desk?
As part of the concierge services offered at the King Charles Inn, a ticket desk for attractions and tours is also part of the services. To learn more about events and available activities in the area, contact the concierge’s desk and let them help you come up with a tailored Charleston schedule. (Prices checked 10/06/19).
