All the Staff were friendly and particularly helpful when it came to car parking arrangements. Lovely bar/restaurant. The location of this hotel was so central it made sightseeing very accessible.
Unfortunately you could hear other guest conversations in neighbouring rooms which meant a disturbed nights sleep. A shame because the bed was very comfortable and the room facilities were great.... except the bathroom.. thank goodness we didn’t have mobility issues because it was extremely small!
Breakfast: The breakfast was poor. Stale bread, butter kept in the kitchen and not on the breakfast table (but margarine was). None of the juices or breakfast pots named so not possible to know what the items were. The cooked breakfast was one of the poorest I have had in a hotel for a long time. Looking around other tables, it appeared that others felt the same. The hot food had to be ordered. While this helps waste, the amount of scrambled egg on the plate was too small and baked beans too many (i wouldn't have chosen these had they been on a hot food display table). Some items were inedible. One item I couldn't work out what it was; it broke up into dry flakes. The size of the tables meant that walking around the room was difficult .. The sizes of the tables didn't align with the fact that most guests were either in couples or singles. They were oversized for the number of place settings and overall the room didn't have enough tables for the number of guests staying in the hotel. Tables were too close to the layout tables that had the limited food and drink on display.. Room: The room was characterless with one of the smallest bathrooms I have experienced and with a low ceiling, particularly when having to stand in the bath when showering. The shower in the bath gave pulses of warm and lukewarm water. No basin soap was provided so necessary to use the small pot of shower gel which was in short supply.
Car parking a total nightmare
Location Service Cleanliness
Nothing All excellent. Have stayed before and would again
Room large and modern. Lighting good. Staff lovely and polite and helpful. Parking easy and not too expensive. Room Price high but limited accommodation in Canterbury so understandable and location excellent. Breakfast ok but hash browns weird!
Bathroom not 4 star standard. Looking tired around the shower screen and extractor fan was really loud. Couldn’t plug in hairdryer or kettle unless moved the furniture as the plugs were too low. Would be great to have usb charging points. Wooden flooring made it noisy with shoes on. Minimal room service at night but Sainsbury’s local opposite!
