10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is beautiful, very spacious and right in the middle of the old town! Nice staff, very clean and confy. Would stay there again
Cons: There was a concert near the building and it was so loud it was impossible to even hear the tv. Would benefit of double windows.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff where so friendly and breakfast Is quintessentially portuguese style (simple and so tasty). Room so comfortable.
Cons: Downside: - sound proof needs improving.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful owner. Great place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very central, right in the centre of the city in a very quiet street. Owner was extremely nice and helpful. All in all an excellent service thank you
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room size was excellent and the room was in good decorative order. Very central location on one of the main streets in Braga centre
Cons: Breakfast was adequate - coffee, tea, cheese and ham slices, jam, marmalade, rolls, fruit. Coffee was readily available but the breakfast rolls appeared to be rationed. Very central location which had its drawbacks eg. a singer in the cafe below on most nights. So it was not a quiet location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, great staff, really nice room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent cost-benefit, great hospitality, right in the city centre. Breakfast was great and the items the staff left in the room for us (to name some: chocolate, coffee, soft drinks..) made the difference to turn the stay into a cosy one.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: excellent town centre location, very quiet, clean, newly renovated and comfortable. And Ideal for small groups of caminho pilgrim/walkers (we enjoyed the use of all 6 rooms)
Cons: -
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Friendly hostess. Location great. Breakfast can be taken to your room. Homely environment.
Cons: The beds were not comfortable. Excellent linen but matrasses not firm enough and beds not stable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great position. The room was lovely, modern designs , absolutely so pretty, comfortable and clean. I really loved it. They offer a free breakfast that you can bring in the room and just chill , having breakfast in the bed, really like “feeling home”. I think is the best place you can find in Braga.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lighting, decor, comfortable, and very clean.
Cons: The breakfast was underwhelming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff here are incredible, so friendly and open, they made a good stay even better. The location of the hotel was nearby to everything. I was able to run to the Bom Jesus in the morning (however I should have listened to staff and run home rather than to the statue as the last half of the run was all up hill). There are many great restaurants around and the breakfast in the hotel was great with eggs and roasted mushrooms but also breads and pasteries.
Cons: The initial room had a smoker in the room the night before, which was not allowed. The staff upgraded me to another room and were very apologetic and will call the previous guest for the issue.
7.5 Good
Pros: Croissants
Cons: Coffee and hot breakfast( was cold)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was lovely. The staff where great.
Cons: The rooms Window never seemed to close properly and this didn’t block out the noise in the evening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly decorated and very clean. Very friendly staff, speaks good English. Very good breakfast buffet with many options; located in historic centre
Cons: to make it a super-perfect breakfast buffet, high quality orange juice ("real" orange juice) would be good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb quality of hotel. From reception to the huge and very well equipped room to the location and parking facilities. The front desk person was so helpful not just regarding the hotel but also advice on where to go and what to see.
Cons: Nothing. Too good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice and confortable
Cons: Breakfast could have been better; there was not a great variety of bread and it was not very good (and you have god and tipical bread in Braga).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location and clean facilities
Cons: No basic supplies like a mini market nearby and could do with even a simple vending machine for drinks etc
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is superb, rooms are new and staff is polite
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is fantastic. Unique
Cons: No proper hotel concept . All seems run of the mill. It should be a boutique hotel, original and as exceptional as the location. But breakfast and amenities are similar to what was some years ago a budget hotel from an international operator.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was normal standard self service and with plenty of choice. The one man looking after special requests and refilling the buffet as well as cleaning the tables was efficient and friendly. The breakfats room was confortable and clean and had a nice view from one side.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and People!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff went out of their way to be helpful. They spoke excellent English. The lift whilst small was very useful to take our bags up. Wifi was acceptable on third floor - surprisingly. Breakfast was included- fresh and beautifully presented Brilliant central location with plenty of places to dine nearby. Plenty of clean towels. Air conditioning
Cons: Bar fridge but no kettle in room (typical of Europe) Could hear next room using their bathroom
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location and wonderful helpful staff in this family run business AC worked well great as temps were in the 30s C
Cons: Pillows lunpy and breakfast eggs rubbery
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel combines wonderful service with culture and grace. The rooms are elegant and clean. The bathrooms are updated and everything was working well. It is close to many sights and the locals are friendly and helpful. The staff here is kind and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay in a lovely place!
Cons: Outlets! The only recommendation I would suggest is additional outlets to enable charging of phone and other electronics. Also, an extra 5 EU/day fee for the use of a electric coffee pot seems unnecessary; add this to the room and include it in every room, it would be a nice addition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Cons: The room was across from a parking garage and it was a bit noisy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff and location were excellent. Room spacious and clean. Breakfast good.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean hotel Location is great! Parking is available right outside the hotel, but only for six cars (otherwise you will need to pay the parking yourself)
Cons: Breakfast should be improved - the fruit juices are very diluted with water, the coffee is made by powder and does not taste that good.. Parking should be ensured to all guests for free (we were lucky and found a spot outside) as it is stated in the hotel description
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Position was fantastic, in the middle of the historic centre, staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: N/a
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location in the center of town. Friendly and informative staff, would stay again if we visited Braga.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great, helpful staff. Free safe motorcycle parking outside. A perfect location for visiting historic Braga.
Cons: We had a room facing the square which was brilliant. I think the rooms facing the parking garage might be noisy.

Pros: Clean large suite. Attention to amenities and the quality. Excellent restaurant for dinner. Good and early buffet breakfast.
Cons: Would be nice to have cafe-maker in room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a lovely room and had a large bathroom. Staff was helpful and it was clean. Breakfast was delightful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is on the main square, so we parked the car and walked around town, which is full of sculpture.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The hotel is different from photos. There is no parking how show the advertisement . The bathroom is poor. The shower wet the floor
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for exploring the city. Friendly, efficient staff and a good breakfast in a lovely dining room.
Cons: Rooms in need of refurbishment, décor is dated and feels a bit tired.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient location with friendly helpful staff fluent in English. Lovely quiet rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were uber helpful and even though I rolled in soaking wet (I'm a motorcyclist and it was raining) and in a foul mood because of it, they smoothed my ruffled feathers very expertly. Breakfast was excellent as I'm sure dinner would have been - we had to go elsewhere in the one evening we were there. The whole building seemed very classy and was right on top of Braga's centre.
Cons: The air conditioning was quite old school and we couldn't figure it out. If we'd really needed it I'm sure the staff would have shown us how it worked. The hotel has no car park - though can use facilities nearby. As a biker I'm used to squeezing the bike in at most hotels - for security reasons - so was sorry I couldn't here. But we ended up parking them where we shouldn't have done - nearly In front of the hotel - and this worked fine.
Hospedaria Convento De Tibaes - Braga - Building
7
8.8 Excellent (410 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hospedaria Convento De Tibaes in Braga, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Archbishop's Palace and Santa Barbara Garden. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and an elevator (lift). Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location Great breakfast
Cons: No cell network in most of the premises. Wifi works ok
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, service
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience and the Monastery was something special.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked the concept of remodelling a wing of the Monastery in a contemporary, minimal style to provide guest accommodation. Relaxing and tranquil location. Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably varied and tasty cold buffet breakfast selection with tea or coffee made by staff on request. Plenty of on-site parking spaces available. A bonus was free access to the impressive Monastery itself at any time during opening hours.
Cons: I felt that while the overall design concept was good, some of the details were poor and impractical - eg. no handle on sliding windows (you need to use the palm of your hands to slide the windows open); a leather door pull on cupboard door instead of a more conventional handle; only one low-level shower-head holder instead of a riser rail. Glazed bathroom partition walls, presumably conceived to give a sense of more space and provide more light within the room, offered no privacy (I had a single room, but I assume the layout of double rooms was similar). There was an extensive crack (which I reported) in one of the large glazed bathroom panels which is likely to be difficult to rectify. While access to the accommodation is available 24 hours a day, there were two occasions when, on returning mid-evening, I had to wait a good 10 minutes at the front gate before staff were able to respond. I appreciate there's only one member of staff providing cover in the evenings, but this seemed an excessive time to wait - it would have been reassuring if staff had communicated they were on their way via the intercom system as I was beginning to think nobody was available to answer the door.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful with very attentive staff. The historical part of the building was beautiful
Cons: Restaurant not open every day.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Ambience is relaxing. It is placid place where one can hear birds chirp. The room has comphortable temperature and bed sheets. Hospedaria has great interaction between modern interior solution and ancient windows.
Cons: There was no fan in the room and it is hard to reach for pedestrians.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The breakfast and staff when we lect were very nice.
Cons: Everything was shut. Nice gardens locked off even the church.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The shower and silence.
Cons: The breakfast. Could be the breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is really quiet, except for the bells, and the bathroom has a nice shower. There's plenty of free parking space and the location is charming if you love old stones.
Cons: The bells are ringing in the morning (ca08h30) for quite a while so don't forget to close the window if you plan on sleeping late.

Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, privacy and beautiful countryside surroundings
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The guy welcomes us could speak English and also was very friendly. There were 5 cats and they were also friendly. It is heaven for cat lovers. The garden had a a lot of fruit trees and we were allowed to have fruits which was very nice. The location is 25-30 minutes away from the braga station, but we could walk no problem, as the route was pretty simple. You can even have delicious breakfast at a cafe with quite reasonable price on the way to the station and see some nice view as well. I would definitely come back here again.
Cons: There was no reception so it was a bit confusing where to go ask questions. I ended up emailing them, but she came to our room right after reaching out so it was not a big problem, though you need to be able to speak Portuguese (great opportunity to learn). We stayed there 3 nights and 4 days but had to used the same towel for 3 days so it was nice if we had an extra. I felt the smell of the towels was a bit weird. I thought we could have a small simple breakfast (just coffee and bread) even without booking beforehand reading the descriptions on the website but we couldn’t, so it is better if they can mention about breakfast more clearly on the booking.com website.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were super happy the friendly landlord had no problem handling our very late arrival. no complaints about us arriving midnight-ish. top service we found. he gave us a walk around the beautiful building, the other guests we met also were super friendly, we couldn´t hope for more :)

7.5 Good
Cons: Our room was around the corner from the bar and i found this a little noisy at night.
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast buffet was huge
Cons: Staff could be friendlier and be interested in their guests travel needs.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: That it was unique
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Good food. Nice pool.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room was quite large and the other guests were friendly. It is within reasonable walking distance to the town centre, but not if you have any difficulties walking.
Cons: We stayed in this hotel for ten days and the staff appeared that everything was a chore to them. They didn't even tell us where the restaurant was. When we realised it was a different place to where breakfast was, they said we couldn't use it as it was full and that we couldn't order room service as the kitchen was too busy. This was after a long day of work and there are no eateries near by. I feel that staying this long in a small hotel, the staff would be more familiar as time went on. Very disappointing. I feel they were perhaps busier than usual for this time of year, as we stayed for the Dance World Cup. Eggs / other supposedly hot breakfast was cold every morning, no matter what time we arrived. The room was spacious and clean (although they never took glasses out, we had a build up of 4 at one point before taking them out ourselves). Such a shame, as it is within reasonable walking distance to the centre. But we would have liked to relax in the lovely hotel bar or by the pool etc some evenings - but the staff just didn't make this a pleasant experience at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The proximity of the hotel to most attractions. The classiness of the hotel.
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good pool, outside the hotel is very beatiful.
Cons: Inside the hotel is a little old with “old smell”. The staff could be a lot more attencious.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and staff.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building, loved all the fresh fruit at breakfast, nice firm beds
Cons: Would love an iron in the room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Use of pool Excellent breakfast
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff spoke enough English to check us in and show us to the parking spot (which is underground in a nearby carpark that connects to the hotel for 5euro). The hotel is located very centrally yet our room at the back of the hotel was very quiet. There is a small lift (if you have lots of luggage you might need to make two trips). The room was very spacious as was the bathroom, with everything being very clean. The availability of AC is great when needed. Breakfast was included with our room rate and consisted of a good selection of continental items. An excellent value hotel and would definitely recommend!
Cons: The AC is controlled through reception (you have to call them for it on/off), not a big issue just slightly annoying vs having your own remote.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, large bathroom and very friendly staff. In a central location only 2 minutes walk from city centre and 10/15 from train station.
Cons: Room was too dark without the lights on even during the day.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff is friedly, the location is very suitable for both work and leasure, breakfasts were food, room was always clean
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Calm room even though the hotel is not far from city center. Easy to park in the garage. Nice breakfast .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Underground parking for the 2 motorcycles was easy to access both from the street and the hotel. They only charged 5euros for one space. Breakfast was an excellent buffet. Had a lovely little courtyard terrace from the room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Close to centre.
Cons: Only Juliet balcony. The wi-fi could be better. Same everywhere.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location. Big room
Cons: Our room was next to the road and it was a bit noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible hotel - small, family style, comfortable, silent, close to everywhere in Braga, helpfull personell, parking included, good breakfast. If you need silence and hotel with good spirit and atmosphere - choose the hotel. :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a small hotel with a great location. We only stayed there one night. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. We did not eat the breakfast so I do not know about it. It did have air conditioning that we used because it was warm that night. It was a good place to stay and the people were friendly there.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: The elevator was small and unable to accommodate more than two people at a time, never mind bringing luggage.... it also felt very unsafe. The couch and beds were old and uncomfortable. Breakfast was ok. We had to keep repeating to the staff certain instructions. Not due to lack of understanding, but just lack of responsiveness.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: No parking
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and price very good
Cons: Only two thin bath towels, no hand towels
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. The breakfast was good, perhaps not worth 8 euros but good and convenient. I would choose that option again.
Cons: When the facility says Parking, it should say clearly if it is free or paid. In this case we were charged 6 euros to park in their garage. Not a big deal but the advert should state clearly.

7.0 Good
Pros: Location, room space, beds, breakfast, heating, historic centre and shops nearby. The underground parking is right in front, and it's possible to find alternative parking locations within walking distance.
Cons: The underground parking is a bit expensive, and the existing alternative parking locations are not obvious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I dont understand the negatives reviews. The hotel is placed in a perfect location, the rooms are very clean and confortable, with beautiful views, the people are nice and available, and the breakfast is good and plenty. I think you get a good value for what you pay, and would repeat if i come back to Braga
Cons: The location inside the mall can be tricky to find
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in the city center. Welcoming reception. Nice breakfast. On the rainy day, you can go to the shopping mall not leaving the building.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great, warm, welcoming, helpful, staff, big, clean, rooms, good breakfast, good location
Cons: I always like to find something that can be improved. Some of the beds may be long in the tooth, and can be uncomfortable. All other aspects of the hotel exceeded expectations.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Breakfast was great, has too many options, me and my family love it! The beds were confortable and the room was very clean and confortable...for sure we will visit this hotel in Braga again! The Guimaraes Family (Brazil)

Pros: The hotel was easy to get to and very clean. There was nothing fancy about it but it was an excellent value for what we paid. It was a close drive to Bom Jesus and the city center. There were shops nearby if you needed anything.
Cons: The property was great and energy efficient. The hall lights were on a motion sensor, which is great because it doesn’t waste electricity, but a little strange until you were used to it.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and cosy room!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were especially friendly and helpfyl. They represented the hotel extremely well.
Cons: A proper double bed rather than two singles joined together would have been nice. Mattress was a bit lumpy but this shouldn't be a problem in the future as they were all being replaced as we left.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel seems to be 20 years old, but well built. Well kept and clean however not renovated. Bathroom with all facilities, room clean. Good breakfast. Ok for one-two days stop, just not romantic.
Cons: Difficult parking, no facilities in the neighborhood, however city center is 2km drive.
7.0 Good
Pros: The mattress was too hard, and the pillows were terrible. The room wass clean, but could definitely use a fresh coat of paint. Breakfast was ok, and front desk crew were very nice and helpful, and even got us a triple room with no extra cost even though our reservation was for a double room.
Cons: The location was a bit strange. Despite the room being clean, the walls looked dirty. Some fresh paint would help a lot.
7.5 Good
Pros: Thats all
Cons: Nothing

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby was being painted when we arrived. They are clearly trying to keep the place in shape, but it is an older hotel. The shower needs fixing, and we needed lightbulbs replaced in our triple room. But you cannot beat the location. We drove in. The parking is limited to three spaces on the street. Although The hotel has three spaces, people park there illegally, so you cannot count on getting a space. We got lucky, after waiting awhile, an illegally parked car pulled out and we got a space. we did not move our car again until we were ready to leave.

Pros: The view and the environment is magical
Cons: Room not prepared and I have arrived almost 23:00

Pros: It has a really nice indoor swimming pool, but it’s required to use a swimming cap for using it and you’re charged 5 euro for each one sold at the lobby.
Cons: We had problems with the air conditioner, we had to change our rooom because of this, the rooms are a bit dark.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The hotel has potential to be Absolutley stunning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is simply amazing! We stayed a day longer than planned just to enjoy ourselves and have a lazy day.. The price is extraordinarily cheap and the facilities (swimming pool, fitness, sauna, sun terrace, free parking, breakfast) and location (on the top mount Bom Jesus) are stupendous. If I ever return to Braga, this is where I'll stay.
Cons: The ONLY thing that can be improved is the coffee at breakfast. I know I'm being picky, but the coffee was distinctly awful. Other than that, all was amazing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, historical location only a bit far from the city centre. Friendly staff, very good facilities. A wonderful experience to repeat as soon as possible.
6.3 Good
Cons: The hotel is old and the furniture experienced better time already. Also the breakfast was not that good (no vegetable at all). For one night only to sleep ok but if possible I won't book the hotel again.
5.8 Okay

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast with a lot of food choices.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We were very pleased with the hotel and our room. Both were as described. We particularly like the leisure facilities, lounge area and breakfast. Our room was spotless and access to the centre of Braga was very easy using public transport - (1.55 Euro, Bus No.2 500Metres).
Cons: We were very disappointed to find that our room did not have a hospitality tray for making tea or coffee. In the UK it is standard practice for even 2* hotels to have a hospitality tray. We would have preferred to have a proper bathroom with a door and not an open bathroom with a curtain. We would also like to have found an area in the reception with information about Braga (maps, transport options and tours etc).

Cons: ?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Neat hotel near by center.Rooms were in nice size. Staff was helpful. Good breakfast and dinner.
Cons: We booked the hotel only because of the pool facility and on the arrival we became to know that season has not started by end of the May . It would be great if the dates would be mentioned next time. Despite that staff was helpful to fulfill our wish to sunbathe not on the pool area but on the balcony instead.

Pros: Location very close to the city center, rooftop swimming pool was a welcome extra

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: I was badly bruised when I walked into a nail sticking out of the wall and I will need almost certainly a tetanus on my return to UK the cupboard (wardrobe space) had x4 hangers across the only window in the room and the lighting was horrendous . I had a 15, a 5 year old girl and an 1- month old baby with zero room service an this is disgusting ! The lighting was so so bad my little one also walked into a corned table and had a black eheb
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Parking was a little bit far from the hotel
6.8 Good
Cons: Hot water - only 15 minutes. Uncomfortable pillows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All aspects of this hotel 100% positive................................staff excellent.
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Cons: Noise Level from outside bar area was very loud until 2am in morning on 2 of the 4 nights stay. I complained to the Night Manager twice, the second time having to go to reception as phone call was not acted upon. Was told it was an open area and they couldn’t do anything, I had to point out it was an area that was part of hotel! Only then did manager say he would ask people to keep noise down. Would not recommend for families or ensure you are not above bar area!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s great that it’s behind the train station however there is no direction from the station.
Cons: They put a solo female traveller all the way to the end of the aisle of the corridor, away from the lift. It’s very basic, good for an overnight before catching next train.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Hot water. Nothing else.
Cons: Staff, very rude. No sense of customer assistance at all. Access to the hotel very poor, no clear signs . Room very uncomfortable, no space for luggage, bathroom without basic necessities. Parking at 5 euros per day is an extreme expense.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Big rooms, very good air conditioner in the room, very nice hotel restaurant. From warm to hot in the lobby and restaurant
Cons: I had a very disgusting experience, the city cut the water service in the area and when I was to take a shower the water was dark brown. The hotel management did not warned the guests that a sudden water service cut may require to open the shower or the sink in order to let run the water for several minutes. I just received an after the fact explanation not a previous warning. The staff did not posted a warning even in the lobby elevators, that would be at least the basic thing to do!
