I had a room directly above the main door / bar which was incredibly noisy and impossible to sleep until after 1pm
The staff was very friendly and I didn’t expect them to actually make any arrangements for my partners birthday as I had wrote in the comments section below, but they had a muffin with chocolate sauce saying happy birthday on the plate and champagne complimentary in the fridge. The room was brilliant so so spacious and they catered to every need with the little but so precious accessories.
The location was excellent and the extra touches. The restaurant food was of a high standard as well. The staff were very helpful and I was impressed with the level of service given.
I think a bath should be provided
Room comfortable and cool bar downstairs, great location and easy to get to train station and nice restaurants.
The bar downstairs isn’t just for hotel residents, it’s a proper bar and very very loud which meant we didn’t sleep well on Friday / Saturday nights because the music/people outside smoking and talking loudly were until 1:30am.
The bar area was gorgeous and the evening bar staff were warm and welcoming. Location is fabulous and the parking was an added bonus. Hotel bathroom was lovely and I liked the dual shower head and inclusion of toweling robes. Rooms very well appointed with both coffee machine AND kettle. Complimentary fizz, water and OJ in the fridge was a lovely touch and this was replaced daily. Room also had hairdryer, iron and full ironing board. Might need more hangers for guests who are staying longer. There was also a hot water bottle for chillier nights which I thought was a lovely touch. Air con was a bit temperamental though.
The bed was tired and uncomfortable. We opted for a standard double but it was soggy and unsupportive. For a 'luxury' boutique hotel they should really invest in a decent mattress. Also the rooms felt like a student bedroom. It may be the fashion but I was expecting a touch more luxury for the price we paid. Breakfast took far too long. Waitress was brusque and hurried as there was only one person covering the whole breakfast service. Waited about 10 minutes before having to remind her to come and take our hot food order. My bacon, avocado and poached egg was lovely but my partner's steak and eggs was actually an overcooked steak and 'egg' (singular). Not enough serving implements with the cold food selection either. When another diner asked for tea he was told to "get it himself it's over there". Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this hotel at this price. You expect top class service and opulent rooms and this had neither.
