Great location for access to the train station and the Old town. The reception staff were always friendly and helpful, and the room was cleaned well each day, (although the duvet underneath the clean sheets was a bit nasty).
The room walls seemed very thin, and you could hear people in the other rooms all the time. I had a room on the main street side, which was also quite loud at night. Absolutely no facilities, the bed was pretty bad, breakfast costs extra, and frankly for the money it costs per night, it should have been a lot better. Having said that I've stayed in several Bern hotels now, and whilst I love the city and Switzerland, it is always way overpriced for what you get - even when using the bookings.com discounts!
Beds are too soft
Great location in walking distance from the train station. Our big room was decent looking and clean. Quiet (our room was to the back).
Ridiculously expensive Internet and breakfast. Too many smoking rooms and no guarantee for a non-smoking room at booking time (not surprising in what seems to be the smoking capital of Switzerland).
Very convenient for station and old city of Bern. good city hotel.
The location was excellent. The hotel is across the street and within view of the train station. The main shopping district and historical attractions are on the same street as well.
It is somewhat shabby; there is absolutely no attention to decor. It looks as if the owners bought the cheapest materials available and patched together a hotel. In a nutshell, the room was ugly. It did not look like the photos on the website - ha! Specifically, the glass walkway/bridge in the foyer had two broken panes. The carpet was stained and made of a rough-looking "industrial" material. Countertops were an aqua formica that did not match the cheap tile . The drapes were just hideous. This hotel would be a good candidate for "Extreme Makeover: Hotel Edition." Having said that, the room was clean and everything worked properly - I just wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone needing a room for a special occasion or to entertain.
With a stay at Hotel City am Bahnhof, you'll be centrally located in Bern, within a 10-minute drive of Stade de Suisse and Botanical Garden. Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services.
