excellent breakfast, very friendly staff.
not much english spoken, but not an issue to me.
Perhaps only the location - it’s was relatively close to a subway (500 meters) and the Nanluoguxian pedestrian shopping street (100 meters).
The hotel and room was, at best, a lower 3 star hotel. Old, dirty, no services, no English speaking staff, way too overpriced. All in all; perhaps the biggest disappointment hotel-wise we have ever had.
Hospitality, every staff member from cleaners to management, though they do not speak English, they try and go extra step to help. Breakfast, we suggested omelette, which is not standard, and in our Indian style, they made it. Rooms are good and spacious. There is a big flea market right down the alley. Few meters away, buzzling with people and sales. It is sure a great experience for us. Lot of choice great food and shopping. No need to bargain, prices are right. Looks like Lot of hangout there. Hotel looks very traditional and they maintaining it well. It is peaceful and calm.
Few of Taxis comes inside alley to drop is one problem. We didn't know that there was the best flea market right at the end of alley, more collateral about things around, sight seeing would help anyone.

The location was great! Next to a busy street with candy shops etc. It was cool to be in a Hutong.
The carpet was filthy... stains everywhere. We paid extra for tub. When we filled it the water was literally brown. The whole place was dated and dark. No staff or guests anywhere to be seen. Ghost town. No restaurant. Breakfast was never served early enough to eat. No chairs to sit outside in courtyard. No one to answer questions or give recommendations.
