Boxpackers Hostel Pratunam

The property was in a good location as it was not close to Khao San Rd where many hostels are situated. We got around easily via the BTS, buses and taxis. The breakfast was good, they have toast, cereal, fruit, salad and tea and coffee to help yourself to, along with giving you a menu to choose from as long as it is under 120 baht per person which is generous.

When we first arrived, the receptionist was asleep at the desk and we had to wake her up (around 5pm). We had a big bag to carry up to the 4th floor which we were offered no help with, nor was anyone around to ask for help. The bathrooms were dirty and bins overflowing when we arrived, but the cleaners did sort out the bins the next day. The bathrooms themselves were very dimly lit, hard to shave or do makeup in as you couldn’t see what you were doing. There were no light switches to make it brighter. Also the loo roll was not next to the toilets, but instead one loo roll holder for 2 toilets was placed outside of the toilet cubicles. This was done to reduce waste but instead probably creates more as you take in more than you think you need, just in case! Two of the lights in our bed pod did not work/ were missing so the bed was also dimly lit, however this was less of an issue than the bathrooms being dark.
