It was very well located with lots of bars and restaurants. The local smoked beer was interesting to say the least. We loved Bamberg! Service was excellent, the staff being very helpful and friendly. Breakfast in Eckarts the hotel restaurant was very good indeed.

However, if you want late nights out, Bamberg is not the place. Everything (that we saw) closed at 23.00 or even at 22.00. Nice diningplaces around and visit the small fantastic silver and antique-shops. You can buy a couple of globes for just Euro 126.000 :-) and still the staff treats everybody nicely. Great place.

Cons: I have mobility issues and it was great that the shower was a walk-in without having to step up. The bad thing about the shower was that it still flooded the bathroom. I think this could be remedied by a slightly higher lip around the entire base of the shower.

We called to see if they had any rooms and they said no, and then we got on booking.com and booked our rooms since it said they were available. When we got to the hotel, they upgraded us for free to a suite, and while this was great for us, I imagine it was because they had no more rooms of the type we reserved.

Pros: It was a nice room and located in the centre of town - right next to the bus station but everything was within walking distance. Staff were perfectly friendly and their English was excellent.
Cons: When we arrived at the property at 2pm to check in - as advised by the hotel - we were told that our room was not ready and might not be until 7pm. We weren’t told about this prior to arrival. Given that we had an event to attend at 5:30 this wasn’t ideal, so we wandered around town for about an hour and returned to find that luckily our room was ready. It reached 38 degrees and the room was not air conditioned. There is only one lift that can only accommodate two people - maybe only one person if you have a larger suitcase! The room was alright, but perhaps not for the price we paid, especially as breakfast wasn’t included. It was another €10 pp per night. We couldn’t work out how the shower worked - their were two shower heads but we could only get the smaller one to work properly.

Pros: Rooms were good sized. We booked 2 rooms for our family (2 adults and 2 small kids) but we could have easily stayed all in one of the rooms. Parking lot on the back is a big plus. The hotel is at walking distance from a couple of breweries and near to the towncentre.
Cons: There is no air conditioning in the room and, since we were so unlucky to be here with 40 degrees, the rooms were so hot that was hard to sleep. I didn't receive the checkin code so the check in was a bit tricky but we got in touch the owner and solved everything quickly. The breakfast is very basic, with little choice of food.

Pros: It has a good location close to two breweries and it is appx 15-20 min walking distance from the old town. We took a 3-beded room. Very simply furnished, the beds were ok. Breakfast was very basic: fresh bread (different choices), butter, jam, yoghurt, coffe, tea. Very continental. The hotel has private parking on the back side of the building.
Cons: We came late and needed little time to figure it out how to call the hotel staff and got in and where to find the key. Everything is written on the board and papers. Hotel does not have an elevator. So if you are placed on the second floor you should carry the baggage using stairs. Wi-Fi did not work well at the time of our staying there. Rooms do not have air conditioning. But there is a simple fan in the closet.

Pros: This hotel is a kilometer or so uphill from the Altstadt and Domplatz, a nice stroll or a short bus ride. Our room was up on the fourth floor with an amazing view of the stately towers and walls of the Altenburg (thus the name, Altenburgblick). The room was comfortable and nicely furnished. The only downside was that the elevator only came to the third floor. The buffet breakfast had many choices of yummy food and good coffee. The staff folks were friendly and helpful, too. Perhaps the best feature of the hotel was the nearby Greifenklau Beer Garden, a truly fun and authentic experience!

Cons: NO AIRCONDITIONING. I was a single traveler backpacking around the world. I would walk through town come back to my room and sweat for another hour. If you can handle a hotel without AC then by all means stay here it's very nice. The only other problem I had was that I had a shared shower. Getting a shower was not a problem. But once I saw the shower I was severely disappointed. The best way to describe this shower is if you walked into a broom closet and they had put a nozzle on the wall. Other than those two issues I had a great time at this hotel.

Pros: The hotel was a good walking distance to the old town. The room was recently refurbished and beds extremely comfortable. Excellent bed linens. Met all our needs for a good value stay.
Cons: The room was hot and we had to open the window as there is no airconditioning. That let in road noise. It's quiet with the windows shut however. If we stayed a second night we would ask reception for a fan. Otherwise good value comfortable hotel with quirky character.

Cons: Very loud service employees and quite thin walls and doors, room had no fan, A/C or any proper air circulation, the hotel itself could use renovation works (incl a very nice looking restaurant/bar in the first floor which was shut down), the interior is quite old, expendable bed with a split mattress was provided, no wardrobe in the room, no curtain for the shower

Pros: It is easy access to train, buses, walking, etc. Restaurants very close by. City center and tourist district are only 10 minute walk away. Very clean, comfortable room and bed. Just enough space for sleeping/showering etc. I love to walk/wander/explore, so the room for great for that.
Cons: If you wanted to stay in room and just rest, the only option was to lie/sit on bed. Chair was uncomfortable. Also, no air conditioning, which normally would not be a problem, but Bamberg was having excessive heat. During the day, the room was rather warm. But in the evenings, opening the window allowed for a very pleasant breeze and nice sleep. Since I stayed gone most of the day, it was not a big problem. ***They had larger, nicer rooms that I got to peek at, so check them out if you are not a walker/explorer!

Pros: Booked a room for two nights online. I simply had to give a confirmation number to the receptionist at the front desk and she found my room in short order. She also spoke English, which I was very appreciative of what with my shaky German. The room was clean, with a 32 inch TV and a bathroom with a shower (no bathtub). Clean linens of course. There is a small shopping center attached to the hotel that is quite convenient. There is also a bowling alley. The neighborhood is nice, and seemed quite safe. Overall I was satisfied with my stay.

Used as a stop over base for one night on a motorcycle trip so can’t really rate the surroundings as we didn’t explore. One of the rooms was a double when we booked a twin, reception sorted the problem out straight away, and in a friendly manner despite the language barrier. Very impressive.

Cons: There were many details I did not appreciate. The location, next to a fuel station, does not give a great view from the window. The painting on walls is worse than in pictures. Cables hanging, sofas I would never sit on. An old hotel...There was a party Saturday night, luckily I had my earplugs. I would say the carpets and chairs are the worse: old and with stains I did not want to use my socks on the floor or sit on the chairs.
