Aside from the charming room and super comfortable bed, we were floored by the kindness of host Robert & his family. We have a few odd requests and he was happy to oblige us, and we were so grateful since the trip was not a vacation for us and was in fact a very stressful compulsory medical trip. Robert offered us an upgrade simply for being some of his first guests post lockdown. He’s eagerly awaiting more guests and we’re excited to see him and his family again up north. You are an excellent businessman and property owner! Thank you for having us :)
We could have used a full length mirror in our room and we found it hard to adjust the shower temperature. The building is vintage so it has its quirks!
Location was excellent- off street parking, close to Maungawhau (Mount Eden), close to Mt Eden shops and cafes/restaurants, and close to motorway access. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival (few guests had visited due to recent COVID-19 pandemic) as restrictions had only just been lifted. We had multiple cups of very good filter coffee and long chat to our friendly host and also other guests. This was a memorable stay - we hope to be able to return. Bed was enormous and comfy, there was plenty of space to stow our luggage. Good water pressure in shower. Comfortably furnished living area. We had everything that we needed.
If I scratch my head, and am picky, then I could probably think of something. Not very good at retaining details of negatives if the overall experience was good.
breakfast with muesli, cereals, juice, coffee, tea, yoghurt, fresh fruit, eggs, toast with several types of bread, marmelade, jam, honey - everything you need (or don't need). Since we were around a dozen persons that got stuck under the New Zealand Level 4 lockdown, the landlord Robert and his wife prepared dinner for all of us free of charge (no restaurants nor take-aways outside were open). That was a fantastic treat for all of us! At the end of our stay, Robert drove us to AKL airport so that we could take our plane to bring us home in this time of the corona pandemia.
I don't find anything to complain.
Location was excellent. Room size, facilities, bed was all excellent. The host and his family made us feel like we were apart of their family. Loved it.
Great host, great place. Very fine breakfast, rooms are nice, Netflix available. 20 minutes away from the Eden Park on one side and from the mount Eden on the other side. Parking place.
