Badia di Pomaio - Arezzo - Building
2
9.7 Excellent (62 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Badia di Pomaio’s purpose is to give guests those rare moments in our life that touch eternity, moments that we bring with us for the rest of our existence. Enjoy the freedom of living in this former abbey, where history and nature come together. Sit by the pool and let the tranquillity of the woods soothe your soul. From the abbey, the countryside stretches as far as the eye can reach and it’s easy to feel at peace. Here you can find your real self and finally become a part of nature, both outside and inside the abbey. Every stone in Badia di Pomaio remembers its history. Monastic elements and a contemporary design combine to preserve the positive energy that this place still radiates. Today, the first thing guests will see upon stepping into the abbey is the embrasure on the wall opposite the doorway. When the sunlight hits it, it casts a cross over the floor. The choir, where the monks once gathered to sing and pray, and where the altar stood, is now the conference room. Its tables and armchairs are set in a circle to elicit that same atmosphere of solidarity and partnership that they shared. The arched ceilings, the old-style fountain and the ancient wooden statue of the Madonna, patron of the abbey, perfectly preserved within a niche along the stone stairways, bring back to life the aura of conviviality and fraternity that sets monasteries apart from the rest of the world. The simple elegance of the bedrooms mirrors the nature that surrounds the estate, its quietness and its humble beauty. The walls of the abbey retain the memory and the energy of the monks’ prayers and every room has its own story and its own secrets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Badia di Pomaio. The resort was an amazing last minute discovery to us and an oasis of rest during our final days of Tuscan holidays. The hotel has been recently renovated to the highest possible hospitality standards. Inside the hotel, the public areas and the beautifully designed suites reveal an attention to every detail and compliment perfectly the exteriors views, the lush gardens and the beautiful pool, making the place very special indeed. The staff is super attentive, incredibly friendly and very helpful: a special mention here to Matteo who displayed incredible hospitality and went out of his was to make us happy, including giving us good tips for our visit and dinner in Arezzo and for arranging for us a last minute massage (which also was excellent). The restaurant under the pergola offers a refined Tuscan cuisine that can compete with any gourmet restaurant in the region. We will surely come back soon. Well done!
Cons: Nothing. We loved everything. An ideal place to host also an in-house SPA.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything in the property was amazing starting from the lovely location. The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help!
Cons: The AC and hot water in the room did work properly and there was a slightly bad smell at some point.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous property if you’re looking for pure rest and relaxation which we were. Everything is new and has been finished to an excellent standard. Staff were extremely friendly and super accommodating. I would highly recommend.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place, there no words to describe it, every little detail from the decor, to the kindness of the staff and the incredible locally produced products, just perfect. A place of calm and tranquillity in a spectacular location overlooking the city of Arezzo. I would comeback a thousand times.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view
Cons: Shower door was leaking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Most beautiful venue we stayed at in Tuscany region, and the food was exceptional. Highly recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Badia Di Pomaio is one the the best places I have ever been to. The location is perfect. Away from everything and at the same time close to Arezzo and other Tuscan little towns. The tranqulity you feel there is out of this world, on top of that we really felt like we are part of the family with all the staff. The food is to soo good it is to die for, so please if you can and are considering going don't think about it too much because if you do you will probably found the property is fully booked, and you will surely miss out on soo much.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Passing through Arezzo we stayed at this newly reopened hotel after a long and extensive renovation. Stunning location for the view and tranquility. We liked the style of the rooms, the gardens and the heated pool. A mention for the restaurant whose chef we already knew and where the wine list surprised us. We will definitely come back

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed very much being in this well maintained and quiet location . Fabrizio and his staff was very welcoming and friendly. The view and panorama is fantastic. One of the days we just stayed on the premises and enjoyed the scenery, the soothing sounds of nature. The apartment was normal size and the kitchen fully equipped, and we had an own patio. Breakfast was sufficient and coffee excellent.
Cons: As usual in Italy at breakfast the white bread is hard and/or toasted, being German I missed the soft bread at breakfast. But that is minor and no specific downside of this Agriturismo.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very very kind people, the (optional, but dont skip it) diner was great, be sure to be hungry, you get a lot of food! The view on Arezzo is fantastic.
Cons: The road uphill was a bit tricky. We only booked 1 day, wish we could have stayed longer.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: That’s how the one imagines paradise. Wonderful villa, all your dreams come true (jakuzzi despite late arrival, glass of wonderful home wine, dog to play, relaxed and happy people around, very attentive and friendly staff. Definitely will come back
Cons: The way to the hotel was a bit off-road and curvy, would not be easy to find. But the host provided us the gps coordinates and we didn’t get lost in the middle of the night.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view is breath taking, especially at our first night in Italy. Never miss the dinner, which is phenomenal!!! Staff are extremely friendly. we definitely will come back !
Cons: The last 300 m of driving is a bit sloppy, which is the only thing out of my expectation
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great view, food and lovely owners. Dinner at sunset was magical.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I could't imagine a more romantic place to celebrate love. Incredible (vegetarian!) food, great wine (and processo), sunrise at the pool, sunset dinner with a view, clean rooms, relaxing ambiance, nature all around. Absolutely perfect. And to try the shower at the pool right before sunset, I've never showered with such a view.
Cons: Nothing. really nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful quiet getaway location. Adil, our host was attentive and very helpful. His recommendations to explore the local area were perfect for us. A good sense of humour was very welcoming and smoothed over any translation challenges. Very easy to pass hours watching the view. Room was comfortable and the various terraces and lounge offered many places to sit and read or chat
Cons: Last 700 metres of the drive in are very steep, winding and bumpy. Almost at the limit for our little car. However the experience once we arrived soon made us forget the driveway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Agriturismo Borgo Nuovo Di Mulinelli was an absolute dream. This place is a little piece of heaven in Arezzo. We were looking at many other places to stay in Tuscany before we booked this Agriturismo, and we are so glad we did. It was the perfect location from Florence (about an hour drive) and a great location to be able to drive to other cities in Tuscany. Every night we came back to have dinner at the property because their dinner service is TO DIE FOR. It was honestly the best food we had during our entire 10-day trip to Italy, and that's saying a lot! For 30 euros/person you get a 3-course meal with wine and honestly the most delicious food we have ever had. We are still dreaming of the food we ate here!! On top of the food, we spent an evening before dinner in the hot tub, watching the most perfect sunset over the Tuscan hills. This place really makes you feel lucky to be alive. We are definitely coming back and recommending it to all of our friends and family who visit Tuscany!
Cons: There was no AC in the room that we stayed in so it was a little hot at night (we stayed in July), but they had a fan in the room that worked well. The hill coming up to the property is incredibly windy and steep, but trust me, the view at the top is WORTH IT!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Stunning views. Excellent dinner.
Cento Passi Dal Duomo - Arezzo - Bedroom
5
9.0 Excellent (321 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Arezzo, Cento Passi Dal Duomo is just steps from Cathedral of Arezzo and 3 minutes by foot from Basilica of San Francesco.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect, right in the centre. The room was basic but very clean and spacious with air con and everything we needed. Breakfast had everything you'd expect for an italian buffet and Gianfranco was kind enough to hold my baby while I ate!!! :) Accomodated us in every way from offering a banana to my baby while we waited to check in to finding space in the fridge for our shopping.
Cons: travelling with children, we were aware the walls were not that thick and all sounds would carry...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very kind and helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I loved to relax on the terrace overlooking the town with a cup of tea.
Cons: breakfast consists of a variety of plastic wrapped goodies from the supermarket, but to be fair I have not seen any grocery store nor bakery anywhere in the historical center
6.7 Good
Cons: The room is advertised as triple but the second bed is a bunk bed, so it's suitable for children only. The hosts are not attentive enough to their guests and breakfast was really poor.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This B&B has a fantastic location for exploring Arezzo. The room is simple but clean and has everything you need. The best part about this B&B is the lovely friendly host. He welcomed us into the B&B, showed us to our room and then showed us the lovely little terrace off the breakfast room. He said we were free to help ourselves to bottled water from the fridge, teas and coffees. He was extremely friendly and chatty (my partner does speak Italian so that helped!). If you're arriving by car, as we were, just be aware that the car parks are outside of the main town and require a 10-minute walk up with luggage. I would recommend this B&B for a simple but friendly stay!
6.3 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the location was close to most sights and the owner was very kind.
Cons: The bathroom was very small, the breakfast was all processed foods, not much privacy and we weren't told what the wifi password was upon arrival. Would suggest putting a board up in full view for boarders or somehow provide it upon arrival. Also, we were not given a key for the elevator until owner met with us next day. His wife checked us in but didn't give it to us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful host who came to meet us in a nearby square. He texted the authorities with our car number plate so we would not be fined for driving in the city without a special permit. He then pointed out where to go for free parking just outside the city walls, a short downhill walk from the B&B. Delicious breakfast with more than the usual Italian sweet items, including yogurt and fresh fruit. We were also able to leave our luggage in the apartment while touring the city in the morning before rolling it down to the car park. Very comfortable beds. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.
Cons: A bit difficult to find but very central.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming host, lovely balcony and good breakfast
Cons: We found to our cost that our satnav took us to the grand piazza - but Gianfranco rescued us. Also only half the car park is free 24/7....so check the signs. FYI you can pay the fine at the post office!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, nice room, helpful staff.
Cons: Double bed could have been bigger but the room would not allow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Barbara was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast she provided was an excellent start to the day. The property is well located close to all important sites and social areas. I’d have no hesitation recommending this accommodation to all of my friends. Peter K
Cons: Nothing
4.6 Okay
Pros: It is located right in the "bulls eye" Easy acces to most of the POIs Good restaurants nearby Very nice view in the park that is only 200m away
Cons: The hosts were very nice and friendly but only spoke italian and could not manage a POS payment. The location is wonderful exactly in the historical center but the rooms are dark, humid (bathroom corners with mold) and uncofortable. Parking on site is forbiden for anybody else than locals (historical city center), so you'll have to find a parking spot outside the "walls" which is about 1 km away.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Decoration and friendly staff
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The room was large, comfy and absolutely charming. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. There were lots of personal touches and everything had been thought of. Anyone attending for a wedding - the hairdryer was excellent. I didn’t have breakfast but the breakfast room looked lovely. I would highly recommend this property.
Cons: As you might expect, life at the hotel starts early so you will hear background chatter and bustle from around 7ish I’m guessing but it didn’t bother me and I was able to go back to sleep.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location was good
Cons: The room didn’t have a properly tiled shower. It really needs renovating. The breakfast was very poor with very little choice apart from lots of cakes and sweet things. Coffee was unpleasant but it came from a machine. They could at least make fresh coffee for the guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is so,so. But it was warm in the room. I could sleep well
Cons: Nothing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and quiet location but easy walk to the Main Street. Rooms were well equipped and beds comfortable.

Pros: The food. The wines! The oil! The hospitality and the tastefulness in everything from doorknobs to cutlery to linen. And everything was so calm and quiet and relaxing. I can’t wait to come back.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved the pool with a great view on the Tuscan landscape. Good breakfast and nice people. Charming Tuscan villa.
Cons: Some appliances (like oven) could be improved.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is is very beautiful old farm, that produces their own wine and olive oil. You have the opportunity to try both in the home restaurant. It was magical experience of summer evening with good home food and wine w/o any need to drive to some place after. Breakfasts was also very good and satisfying.
Cons: We expected more polished rooms. Instead you have more rough kind of design. The smallest shower we ever see and very uncomfortable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking location, peace and quiet amongs old buildings. Amazing pool.
Cons: Just couple of things: Not enough parasols for all the guests on the swimming pool. My bed was creaking with even a slight movement. No service to have at least a coffe during the afternoon for the guest with rooms without kitchen.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Magical place... Tulio and his familiy are more than perfect hosts. Beautiful rooms and surroundings, the best food we had in all our trip and just the most authentic place ever. We had an incredible stay and will come back for sure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is located in a very beautiful little town. The apartments are very spacious and clean. The pool is very nice and has a fantastic view. The breakfast is great and the staff are super friendly and hospitable. Overall, a great choice for those who like to stay at an agriturismo in the country side of Tuscany.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing location with lot of trees and shade Salt water natural pool Tulio and his wife were very helpful and even accommodated our request to see bread making by the chef Room was spacious and had antique touch to it
Cons: Breakfast spread could be improved with more warm and savery items
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location and stunning outdoor pool. An extraordinary historical atmosphere. Excellent restaurant with delicious wines.
Cons: A little expensive. The farm's wines were sold at a lower price in the village pizzeria. The service was friendly but with a Mediterranean sense of humor.

Cons: l tried to found -but did not

7.9 Good
Pros: Our superior room was spacious, the breakfast was lovely and the pool was really good. The staff were all excellent. The evening dinner menu had a good selection but as we stayed for 4 nights got a bit boring. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The building was very old with lots of quirky features which we loved.
Cons: We were in the midst of an extreme heatwave and although there was air con, it wasn’t quite up to to the temperatures being experienced at the time.
10.0 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: interesting experience to stay at place with such a long history (was built in 17th century)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very well run traditional type of hotel with all the facilities required nicely just out of town, with really outstanding views and a very good on site restaurant. Plenty parking on site. Reasonable wi-fi. Comfortable rooms and very clean and tidy. Can definitely reccomend.
Cons: No downsides at all
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had an amazing dinner - great value and the restaurant was very busy with lots of locals and families. Really nice ambiance and great food.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Original Italian ambience and Toscany flair
7.9 Good
Pros: - very nice hotel and room - perfect view from superior room - very good restaurant
Cons: (just one negative experience, otherwise everything was good, we still recommend this hotel) - we travelled 1000+ km by car from Slovakia to attend friend's wedding in Poppi. The evening before the wedding we came back to the hotel at midnight, tired after a day of preparations, just to find a wedding party going on right behind our door - speakers 15m from our door (because we paid extra for the superior room in annex and the intrance was right from the garden). We were not told a word about this in advance, nothing, which we find very upsetting. I went to complain to the reception at ~1 am, the staff was nice, explained how the party was supposed to be inside but changed to outdoor party at last minute (which is surely not an excuse, as they have a 10pm night-time quiet rule). We were offered to move to a different room, which I didn't accept, as we were too tired to move elsewhere at night. The disco ended ~1:30, noise from guests ended 1:45. Finally, we were discounted one night from our stay, which was good, but didn't give us back the hours of sleep we needed. If we were told earlier, we would have arranged things for ourselves, even if they only told us earlier that day. Well...
7.5 Good
Pros: Dinner, wine menu and coffee was quite good and the lady who was our waitress was very nice
Cons: Breakfast wasn't too good
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful views
Cons: Slightly dated furniture.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location, the panaorama is splendid. The room was very high standard and so was the restaurant: nice typical and very affordable meals!
Cons: Only negative issue is the heating: there are 2 units in the room that serve as airco and heating. They did work, but they are very noisy.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice modern hotel with ample parking.
Cons: Hotel has nice view of Poppi castle, but medieval Poppi is on the other side of the river, not within walking distance. Hotel has nice restaurant but is in an isolated location, no other restaurants or other businesses nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a pleasant discovery! Had no idea where I was going to stay and booked here last minute. It has generous parking, an onsite restaurant, and awesome scenery. Highly recommend.
Cons: Having to leave.

Pros: The historic aspect of the hotel was particularly good The location of the hotel was great as it was so near to the centre
Cons: The access to the hotel, being in a restricted area was a little difficult when arriving by car for the first time. 8.9 Excellent (66 reviews)

Tenuta Il Palazzo is set in a tiny, mediaeval hamlet in the beautiful Tuscan hills above Arezzo. Relax in secluded, comfortable apartments surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. In this pretty, natural location, 10 minutes’ drive from Arezzo’s historic centre you can swim in Il Palazzo’s panoramic outdoor pool or go fishing in the farm’s private lake. You can also go horseback riding around the estate or take the hotel's bicycles out to explore the countryside. Apartments at Tenuta Il Palazzo are all individually decorated in a characteristic, rustic style. Choose from studios and 2 and 3-room apartments, all restored mediaeval structures now offering modern facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had the best time at Il Palazzo, where the host Lorenzo is very welcoming. You should definitely try the different wines they produce, possibly over dinner with authentic Italian food. The place doesn't have a restaurant, but they do offer lunches and dinners with the wine tastings. All in all we had an amazing time here and I would love to come back.
Cons: A lot of mosquitoes, but you can't really blame the place for that.
6.7 Good
Pros: Beautiful atmosphere Gb
Cons: The room ( an apartment with small kitchen) needs definitely up grade. Especially bathroom... WC was almost broken. Kitchen area is very dark ( even though I had no intentions to cook) The bed was not so comfortable. I stayed only for 2 days ..,, if you stay longer, it becomes a bit uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking scenery, super cozy accommodations, and very hospitable host Lorenzo. A total dream. Absolutely loved it and cannot wait to return!
6.3 Good
Cons: Hot water lasted a min. With a family of four not even the first person got a full warm shower and it took 10 hours to get hot again. Staff was hard to find. Told them we would arrive at 8, got there 10 mins to and no one was there!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This "tenuta" is a sprawling vineyard in the hills of Tuscany, with beautiful accommodations, a large, pristine swimming pool, and regular wine tasting! The best thing about it by far is the world-class staff. Lorenzo is so very kind, genuine, tirelessly helpful, and a wonderful host. We bought a couple cases of their gold-medal-winning wine, and we are trying to make it available regularly back home.
Cons: I can't think of a single thing to be improved. I only wish we could go back there right now.

In general, hotel fully met our expectations. A good place to spend a night or two while traveling across Italy. Pros: The room was huge, gorgeous, quiet and perfect for us. My husband sleeps very late the the staff completely respected our need for privacy. The gentlemen at reception were kind, friendly and so very helpful. The breakfast was wonderful and the server perfectly accommodating to my requests., greeting all her guests with a big smile each morning. She was lovely. I love this place and everyone with whom I came in contact. BTW, my husband was in a wheelchair and the staff did all it could to make us both very comfortable. The BEST!

Cons: Lighting in main room poor
7.1 Good
Pros: Convenience to old city. Staff was extremely nice.
Cons: The bedroom was very large but with old (not antique like) furniture. Also the ceiling was a beautiful fresco!! It could have been charming but there was a bedspread that was in style 50 years ago that was white quilted with orange pink and red flowers. It was ugly. The bed was not Comfortable. The bath fixtures and bath tub (in the bedroom) has been updated. If the bedding had been updated to something neutral that matched the fresco and had some throw pillows in some complimentary colors, the whole Room would have looked better. I do not think the floors and furniture were very clean.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location and friendly staff.
Cons: The hotel was very tired and basic. Plug sockets very dodgy and very old fashioned hairdryer. The lift made a loud noise which we could hear from our room as well as the gentleman in the next room talking on his phone. Glad we were only staying one night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful little hotel, friendly and welcoming staff, room was comfortable and quiet. A delicious breakfast was served at the cafe next door with plenty of options and coffee made any way you like it. Location was excellent with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Very easy access to the train station, only 5 minutes walk away.
Cons: Nothing - I had a very pleasant stay.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Room was average also bathroom a little small Outlook zero. Parking your car to offload luggage is a no no, you can park off street for 1 night in a selected area then must move to a pay car park thats 3klm away . Breakfast was included via the next door cafe. Monica owner /receptionist is a happy friendly person. So this accomodation is handy for the local tourist attractions.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Small family run enterprise, perfect location.
Cons: Lighting erratic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 30MB/s WiFi in the room worked great. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner worked well. Breakfast included (at the caffe next door) was good. Appreciated their letting me come back after exploring Arezzo on my checkout day and hang out in their first-floor internet lounge until my afternoon train departure time. A short walk to all Arezzo attractions, and just a couple blocks from the train station, this hotel was perfect for a weekend of visiting Arezzo. Had good meals at nearby Osteria dei Mercanti, a great gelato at Gelateria Sunflower, and excellent coffee at nearby Caffe Pascucci and Caffe dei Costanti. Had hoped to dine at Theorema del Gusto that was also nearby, but they were booked both nights I was in town. I'd stay at this hotel again. Front desk staff was kind and spoke good English as well.
Cons: Only minor nit was that all the hangars in the closet in my particular room were for jackets, but none had a crossbar for hanging slacks. Obviously extremely minor, but it was the only tiny thing that wasn't perfect about my room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gracious welcome , and very helpful all along
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: knowledgable staff
Cons: old room, toialet seat broken, water not going down in the sink and in the shower, wallpaper p[eeling of.
7.1 Good
Pros: I really like the location, the proximity of the city center and the main promenade shopping street. not to expensive. the old part of town is really beautiful.
Cons: older dark room, no fresh air, unpleasant smell, rather poor breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host Monika was fantastic, helping with a lot of information/map and general history. I am on a wheelchair and found the apartment design to be excellent, despite the limited space. It was a European breakfast, mostly cold cakes and like, apart from meats and cheese - somewhat limited for a vegetarian. Coffee was excellent.
Cons: We liked everything - the only addition could be to have a hot water heater for making tea in the room.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff were very helpful
Cons: Hotel was very tired and needed up grading eg wrinkled wallpaper and inefficient AC system during a heatwave.
