Friendliness and helpfulness of staff.
Menu range in Brasserie needs improvement. Draft in Brasserie from door leading to the canal.
The service is quite disappointing. a) One afternoon after 5:00pm we got back to the hotel and found that there was no TV signal. We called for help at once but no one came until we made a second call after about 20 minutes. There came a duty manager but he couldn't fix the problem. He told us he'd go and see what's the problem and would be back in 5 minutes. We waited for half an hour but he didn't get back, so we went out for dinner, hoping that the problem could be fixed when we came back. Unfortunately, the problem was not fixed when we returned. It is most disappointing that until we checked out the next morning, there was not even a note or a call from the duty manager who promised to get back to us for the problem . b) A lighting event/party was held in the hotel on that same evening, the lobby (which is in fact very small ) was so crowded with participants that it was difficult for us as hotel guests to pass through to the exit and go out for dinner. There was no staff giving us a helping hand. I was hit on my head by a guest attending the event when getting through the crowd. As Intercontinental Hotel is a renowned international 5-star luxury hotel, I would expect a staff standing by the lift to lead the way for their hotel guests if the lobby is so crowded. I would guess there was not enough staff for the evening as all the staff were busy with the lighting event, therefore no staff to take care of their hotel guests.
Staff wonderful location food special
Old equipment probably more the 28 years old
Old fashioned. Somewhat shabby. Overly expensive. Nothing complementary. Fair food quality. In summary: an overrated hotel
The room was dirty to the point we had to change rooms. Walls all stained, curtains with little black curly hairs (hmm), all curtains also stained, humidity in the ceiling, bad smell. What a scam and waste of money!!! The breakfast poor to the core and please don’t include it in your rate because you have to pay for everything you eat as it’s all MENU!!! The woman who showed our table gave us second line instead of front water line because the available table Was dirty and otherwise she had to clean it for me to sit. (Of course I made her). The buffet was empty and no food replace ever came. To toast your bread you have to send it to the kitchen. The quality of food and quantity was almost inexistent. I included the breakfast in my rate and all I could get was coffee, box cereal and a very sad looking fruit salad. If you want anything warm you have to pay between 36 to 46 € per person besides what you payed for in your room rate for breakfast. This hotel was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I travel for work and I was so extremely disappointed. Also location was bad. Far from everything you want to go visit and sightsee. Room service for 2 people was 100€ (no alcohol was ordered, no desert and no starter)
Behind the hotel’s grand colonnaded entrance, the regal interior features original, 19th century staircases, chandeliers and elegant marble floors. You can enjoy High Tea in the lounge with river views, and wind down in the health club with a sauna, massage or a swim in the indoor pool. Dine on French Mediterranean cuisine in Restaurant La Rive, try seasonal dishes in the Amstel Brasserie, and discover the city with a tour on one of the hotel’s classic saloon boats.
