Great location - close to all the attractions of the city, spectacular view on the river through the vindow of the room. Funny thing - all the tourists on the river take the photos of the hotel, you can feel like a star. Quite BiG rooms. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Great atmosphere. Special thanks for all the ideas what to see in Amsterdam to a very nice and pretty woman on the reception.
no AC in the building during a heat wave in Amsterdam. the fans provided were terrible and didn't help one bit. my mother almost passed out from the heat and had to take showers every 2 hours to cool down.
It was a very warm day in Amsterdam and the temperature in room 211 under the roofs was simply unbearable when we arrived in the evening. There is no airco in the room and they hadn't even opened the window when temperatures had cooled down outside at the end of the day. Considering the temperature in the room, over 30°C, they should have closed the room and moved the guests to another one, even if not as nice (I understand room 211 is the nicest in the hotel). In the present case we couldn't sleep until 3 am when the temperature cooled down a minimum. The next day temperature went up again and we couldn't spend time in the room during the day. This is a pity if you consider the price you pay for such a room (over 150 euros) and that you take it also to enjoy it and the beautiful view. No discount was offered, only a series of bad excuses (we have problems with booking.com etc.). That was very disappointing.
The hotel was in an excellent location and the staff were extremely friendly. The rooms are really nice and the beds were very comfortable. No complaints about the hotel really. The stairs are rough to try get up when you’re drunk but sure that’s expected in Amsterdam as nearly everywhere has crazy steep steps.
I don’t know what was behind the hotel but there was an awful lot of noise early in the morning from whatever it was but sure there’s nothing Hotel Amstelzicht can do about that really and in fairness if you just shut the windows, the noise won’t be as bad.
With a stay at Hotel Amstelzicht, you'll be centrally located in Amsterdam, steps from Rembrandt Square and 4 minutes by foot from Flower Market. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area.
