Château de Nazelles Amboise - Amboise - Pool

9.4 Excellent (206 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Nazelles-Negron, Château de Nazelles Amboise is in a rural location, within a 10-minute drive of St. Denis Church and Clos Lucé Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.3 Good
Pros: A beautiful, quaint building with very pleasant grounds. The owners were welcoming and accommodating and provided useful information for our stay. The room was comfortable. On the evening we didn't wish to return to eat in Amboise, a very nice cold platter was provided which we ate at a picnic table in the grounds with lovely views of the countryside. The breakfasts were good.
Cons: As the chateau has no restaurant, we were surprised to find that there was nowhere to eat in the village, which meant a 10-15 minute drive to Amboise. On our first night, a friend who was staying in Amboise came and picked us up in the evening. We tried to find a taxi to take us home around 11pm but were unable to do so. The hotel owner had given us a taxi company card but no-one answered the phone. The restaurant owner managed to find a lad from the town to drive us home
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommended. Can not speak more praise for the entire experience. From our host, Victoria, to the amazing accommodations. Absolute perfection. The rooms are exquisite. Victoria was the most amazingly warm and accommodating hostess we have ever encountered!!! She helped us with our activities, getting around. After a 12 hour day out and about touring around, we arrived back to the Château and she had moved all our luggage and packed up some of it too, to accommodate us staying and extra night and didn’t charge us extra for nicer room! Truly amazing and hope we could come back, mostly just to stay at her amazing Château!! Eddie and Debbi

9.2 Excellent
Pros: A real château, extremely good taste, common rooms i.e. library, lounge very comfortable with available coffee and tea, gardens, more like staying in a beautiful private home. The room decoration and size absolutely fantastic
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Bad internet connection - very slow and not usable Breakfast for the room - Every morning we got one baguette for five people - each morning we asked for another baguette. On the last evening (October 14) a tree fell on the car and turned it off - we had to cancel the restaurant reservation and stay in the room until the morning when we brought a new car - feel free to check the weather on this date - the worst garden maintenance - we received no compensation and the ratio was appalling. More details in my email   ilana@iTest.co.il We do not recommend and very caution. Bad human relations.

Pros: Perfectly located in the town of Amboise, five minutes from the chateau, yet feels secluded. The salon and breakfast area are elegantly decorated and the owner is amicable and charming, and very helpful in every aspect of your stay! The cottage room I stayed in was cozy and inviting, yet also furnished with elegant antique furniture that gave it an extra charm. Very comfortable bed. Bathtub great for a soak after a long day of walking and visiting chateaus, with lovely scented soaps and lotions to give it that 'pampering' touch. Tables outside in garden for a picnic, if needed. Terrific staff. Romantic ambiance.

With its swimming pool, huge park and fixed price menu, this hotel is an invitation to disconnect, relax and enjoy the art of living in the Loire Valley.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The charming warmth & empathy of the staff. Felt like we’d died & gone to heaven. Especially after an arduous car journey & arrived well after dark. staff were there to greet us & arranged for an amazing ‘picnic’ to be sent to our room as we were so tied & hadn’t eaten. Made us feel so welcome. Very special.
Cons: No hairdryer in room & towels could have been a bit bigger.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Pluses: The owner/manager (Olivier) is dedicated to his guests comfort and overall experience in the Loire Valley. The property is truly unique, a chateau built into a cliff, with lovely lawn and pool. Staff is very friendly. Location is a quick drive from Amboise. Olivier's restaurant recommendations were spot on.
Cons: Wi-Fi service quality is an area for improvement.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well appointed room with a beautiful understated decor and food and service to match. Extensive grounds just made for leisurely rambling and exploring or canoeing. Good quiet location just outside of Amboise.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of charm and history, fascinating grounds and close to town.
Cons: Rooms were large, a small refrigerator would have been made our stay more comfortable. Access to food aside from breakfast not without a reservation for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host and owner, Olivier, was very friendly amazingly helpful. Lots of advice on what to see during our travels in France. Staff could not have been more attentive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property owner was so helpful! He secured us a dinner reservation at a fantastic local, where the food was amazing. The room was nice. Beds were VERY comfortable. We were allowed to explore the entire property with the added benefit of touring the limestone quarry/caves and historic windmill.
Cons: We had no issues; it was simply perfect for what we needed.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was spacious and some of the staff were very pleasant. Property has a very interesting history.
Cons: Location was far from town and required expensive taxis which were not readily available. There were no staff on the premises between 8pm and 8am. Breakfast was very expensive.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Chateau has great potential but just misses the mark on several fronts. Interesting to walk around and lovely grounds for walk/jog around and pool to chill by. Quiet and nice if you want to get away from it all.
Cons: Someway out of Amboise with no easy taxi service means you’re a bit stuck in the evening if you want to go out for dinner. Dinner at Chateau is set menu, no choice. Didn’t like Having to plug kettle in on floor by entrance door as sockets not in convenient places. New bathroom but skirting has been missed from painting and looks dirty. If no residents are eating seems guests have to fend for themselves, unable to get a drink with no staff around and place in semi darkness shut up for the night. Took over an hour to check out as did not seem to know how computer worked which caused confusion and bad feeling and 2 days later still no invoice has been able to be sent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The view, the property!! The trails. The trees and the birds. The breakfast was amazing!! Best croissant I've tasted in France! Outstanding coffee and local cheeses.

Pros: All the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Parts of the meal we had were very good however parts were rather ordinary and consequently overpriced see below
Cons: No one offered to take our luggage to our room. The meal on balance was very good however the main course for both of us was lacking in flavour and quantity certainly relative to cost . 1 meal was beef the other scallops . 3 or 4 pieces of beef with some rather tasteless vegetable ? wedged inbetween was just not satisfactory . The scallops were in one word , bland. The rest of the meal was very good including the salad that came with the beef.

Cons: We arrived at 7.00pm after a long journey, was disappointed not to have access to a hot/cold drink on the premises. Otherwise, a lovely hotel!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really loved this hotel, built around old farm buildings in a 20 acre estate. We booked for two nights, and chose it especially for the swimming pool, the rural location, and the proximity to several Chateaux and vineyards. The room was very comfortable and with a bigger bed than other places we had stayed in. French door led to our own private patio. A really lovely place to take a break in between hectic visits to Chateaux - although the pool was a little chilly in September. My husband really enjoyed having all the space to go for a jog, and the fact that it was once a golf course. A good safe place to park our classic cars as well. We felt that it would be a really nice place for a family as well. Breakfast was extra, and very good. The owners advised us to try the One Michelin Star Lion d'Or restaurant in Amboise and the food was excellent, and not too expensive either. Lots of other interesting places to eat in Amboise, including a place that had its own beer brewery called Art is an Ale.
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Excellent restaurant and nice rooms
Cons: Checkin not till 6pm. We were unaware of this and arrived at 4pm after a long and tiring motorbike ride. The hotel was locked and dark. We managed to attract the attention of a waiter in the restaurant who was very unhelpful. Wouldn’t even allow us to leave our bags so we could go for a walk.

Pros: Perfect location and our welcome could not have been more gracious. This is a lovely b&b and we plan to return.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great property a short walk to the main streets of Amboise. There is a main manor house, renovated stables and a number of luxe cabins set on this spacious and well landscaped property. The owner was very kind and checked us in early. There is ample parking and the gate is closed at night. Travelling by motorbike, I really appreciate this sort of secure parking. We were staying in the stables that are on a "Gite" plan. The breakfast basket that was offered was enough food for two meals and the baguette and pastries were the best on the our trip. Our room was very comfortable and we slept well there as it is so quiet and peaceful. The kitchen in the room was well equipped and I enjoyed the coffee machine. Staff are lovely. Highly recommended.
Cons: The shower and toilet rooms were a bit cosy in our room.
