The breakfast was a disgrace, cereal and bread. Coffee machine dispensed disgusting coffee at a cup every 5 minutes. The oranges were nice.
It's so run down and dated, we paid extra for the most ridiculous pointless balcony. To say the cost includes breakfast is factually correct but so misleading, there was ham and cheese for 1 day the rest was bread, juice and fruit. Forget coffee or tea, no toast making facilities. One taxi driver was surprised it was still open.
The hotel staff were amazing, the view from the balcony is spectacular, the rooms were kept clean, Portuguese people are great and very helpful and all problems are sorted without fuss manager great lad good personal skills
The location is approximate 1.5 k from the sqr and is a vertical climb if you have mobility problems it's not for you having reached the hotel you have a furthe 58 steps to negotiate to get to reception and a further 30/40 to the bar , you can of course get taxi's ,the rooms are dated but clean beds comfortable but some rooms have bathrooms which are poor although I am told they are getting updated breakfast was poor and badly organised but remember you get what you pay for
Views were spectacular from the balconies and the sun deck area was good and the pool was good. The shower was very good!
Breakfast was very basic for continental style, not enough choice (and they ran out of cheese for 3 days). The furniture in the rooms were falling to bits, drawer fronts coming away from the drawer! Only 1 electrical socket in the room, only 3 coat hangers in the wardrobe, bathroom was really in need of refurbishment, it was quiet grubby. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room and as it was very hot rooms need a fridge to keep drinks cold. The sun loungers need replaced, quite a few are broken.
The views and location.
Breakfast really simple. No toaster. Really bad coffee machine, broken most of the time. Just bread and butter, it would have been nice a bit of cheese or ham, or biscuit. One of the waitresses really really nice, another one completely the opposite. Rooms standard. We had to request mat a few times but OK. A group of people partying at the hotel at 3am and no one said anything to them.
The location is ok.
* The breakfast --> The first breakfast there were, bread, cheese and ham. It was "ok", althoug I did expect something tipical from Portugal, like cakes. The second day, there were bread and ham. No cheese anymore. After the third day, there were only bread. No cheese, no ham, no fruit. I asked in the reception and they replied that it was finished and the hotel did not buy anything extra. So, We stayed 11 days eating bread with botther. I am not joking. I am not a difficult person, but this was the worse hotel breakfast I ever got. The coffee machine often did not work. There is no toast machine. * Soap --> the hotel only gave us 2 peace of soap for 14 days we stayed there, so, if you are going to stay there, bring your own soap. * Talls --> the hotel only changed the talls every 3 days, but when we got new talls it seems that it was already used. * There is no airco in the rooms. * The hotel is not in the best shape. It must be renovated. * The first day (Saturday) we got there, I repported that the TV was broken. I got the TV replaced on Thrusday. It is not that I go on holidays to watch TV, but it is always nice to be able to hear / wacht something while you are getting ready to go to bed, taking a shower... * The swimming pool is "ok", but the swimming pool area is small. There are 5 chairs available. So, if you are intending to spend some time at the swimming pool area, you need to be fast. Ah, many times, there is nobody at the swimming pool to bring you drinks. You need to go outside and buy your own drinks.
