Pros: Love the view , our room was really great and the staff very friendly ! Breakfast is really good
Cons: if there is a small remark to make then I have to say there where no towels left around the pool near the bar and we couldn’t ask anybody because nobody there ! Rest not any complain at all !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting in the park is both scenic and restful. Opportunity to spot grazing zebras and playful monkeys as well as birdwatching from our patio was wonderful. We were greeted upon arrival by our gracious host Wayne. Our guided game drives with Ranger Darlington simply the best! Previously, we had participated in other game drives but they cannot be compared to the enthusiasm, knowledge and insights provided by Ranger Darlington during our recent stay at River Bend. Overall, the food was well prepared and delicious. The wine service was very nice! Special mention to Temwani who offered wine recommendations and thoughtful conversation. He is engaging and an asset to the River Bend team! Moses and Sean were outstanding in the dining room, serving the stellar offerings from Chef Siya and his team in the kitchen.
Cons: Nothing at all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River Bend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing place, a fantastic room and a super staff to create a wonderful experience at the River Bend Lodge. We've been welcome by Wayne and thanks to Darlington we had the opportunity to see lots of animals (Lions, elephant, anthilop, buffalos, zebra etc). He is so expert that literally brought us at the top of the world to have a beer with plenty of buffalos. An amazing sunset experience!! During the dinner we had a wonderful wine testing and a great dinner too. Finally, really a awesome experience thanks to the people working at thud lodge. Surely we'll be there again
Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: River Bend Lodge is a gem. Overlooking it's own waterhole on a concession in the Northern part of Addo, is this wildlife haven with very limited access. On safari it is like you have the whole are to yourself. Spotted 4 of the big 5 during our two day stay but that is only part of the story. For us the thrill was seeing the more humble creatures such as tortoise, dung beetles, bat reared foxes to name a few. However the highlight for me was the birds. This is down to our ranger Christiaan. His birding knowledge is extraordinary. It also provided a welcome distraction from charging around looking for mammals. No review is complete without mentioning the staff. They were superb. Particularly, their highly commendable efforts to make Christmas lunch a very special occasion. We will always fondly remember the crackers and hats whilst eating a traditional lunch watching elephants at the waterhole. Thank you all especially Christiaan. Tea at 0430 was most appreciated.
Cons: A very minor point. Some areas of the accommodation are showing their age. However, in no way whatsoever does this prevent me from rating this lodge as exceptional.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the beginning till the very end! The staff are literally 10/10, they can’t do enough for you. Our room was cleaned multiple times a day. The food was also incredible! This is by far the best place I have stayed! Watching the wildlife around you as you eat is something so surreal! As for the game drives and location I couldn’t speak any higher! This was all undoubtedly the best experience of my life! Our driver Darlington has so much knowledge of the park and the wildlife in the park he made the drives so much fun! I will definitely be returning in the near future to Riverbend and will recommend them to everyone!
Cons: I couldn’t say a bad word about Riverbend. This was luxurious, fun, adventurous, relaxing all in one!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great. staff Location Serenity
Cons: Bathrooms need updating. Fish course at dinner was not good

Pros: Location was fantastic! Room was lovely! Food was great! Addo Safari was amazing well worth the money.
Cons: Staff not at all attentive! Very hard to get a drink at bar or pool! 1 day had to go into the kitchen after ringing the bell 3 times!!! No wine or drinks list and staff had NO knowledge of drinks!!! No phone in the room! Had to go and get milk on 2nd day!! No apology! WiFi very slow and had to keep reconnecting!! Pool always full of leaves etc!! NO net to clear it out though think the staff should be doing this regularly!!! Read fantastic reviews but this is not a 5 star hotel! Also NO flexibility on evening dining time .....,7pm!!!! Hot water tap needs turning down it’s more like boiling!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Villas were really very nice & spacious. The setting is stunning with spectacular views. The warm & friendly greeting on arrival after the drive there was much appreciate with a nice and easy check which allows you to feel at home and able to embrace the sheer beauty of the surroundings & scenic landscape. Beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect Location, best service, super architecture, high class food, very cosy, just perfect. They even washed our car in the morning. And Archie made bbq dinner unforgettable.
Cons: nothing negative, had the time of our life.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable family suite with large terrace opened on a stunning view. Good chef and very attentive service from the staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maga Location without TV. The Owner Archie is a very friendly and funny guy. You need to entertain yourself, which is easy. Take a walk or do one of the game drives. We did two. Addo was okay, but go for schotia. It is more worth.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice and clean. Personnel very nice and attentive to requests. With my wife we wanted to go out of the gate for a walk in the beautiful park and by chance we met Archie, the owner. He was coming back with his dogs and in a very friendly way he made sure the gate to stay open until our return. Overall very nice stay, great views and scenery at breakfast.
Cons: At first we had a bit of back and forward of emails to arrange for dinners etc. In my opinion there were also some formalities at check-in that could be avoided in the check-in form, we arrived a bit late in the eve and were just looking forward to get the room . But this did not cancel the overall very good impression.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The staff were incredible. Helpful, smiling, welcoming, made us feel like there was nothing that they wouldn’t do for us.
Cons: The owner. Caused a huge commotion- rowing with guests in the restaurant, in front of guests and staff, as they complained about dinner being over an hour late. Even saying “if you don’t like it, you are welcome to leave”,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic days, all one can ask for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place that should be on your bucket list.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were unbelievably friendly and accommodating. The room and views from it were sublime. The food was great, but I feel the dinner was a little overpriced, which is a pity as there are no real alternatives for dinner.
Cons: During the braai night, the wine offered was Four Cousins, which I know as a South African to be a very cheap wine, and not a true reflection of the amazing wines South Africa has to offer. Although a bottomless supply of this wine was offered throughout the evening, there are excellent reasonably-priced wines that could be substituted for a better experience. The owner should allow his staff to manage the business autonomously as they do an unbelievable job and he can be quite intrusive at times. The dinner was great but overpriced compared to similar culinary experiences in South Africa. I really hope that the profits from the lodge are shared fairly among all employees and do trickle down to the staff, as they are honestly the greatest asset to this lodge, and what made the stay here very pleasant

7.1 Good
Pros: Farm is nearby Addo park. The farm area itself is also very well maintained and looks nice.
Cons: The self catering cottage is in need of a renovation. We also recommend to make braai packages available, as they are difficult to get in the area. While we were looking forward to use the braai we weren't able to do so. Eating on site is OK, but expensive as compared to other hotels we stayed.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The African vibe is wonderful here. It really is a lodge you need to visit to really feel like you’ve experienced the Eastern Cape. It’s SO close to Addo Elephant Park Main Gate. Breakfast was lovely and lots of variety. Also loved watching the birds from the terrace during breakfasts. Staff are so friendly and the dogs are too! The air con is bliss!
Cons: There’s not enough Sunbeds by the pool - we didn’t get a chance to go in it as one family were hogging it. But WORST OF ALL the dirt tracks that you have to go on to reach the hotel are some of the worst I have witnessed in South Africa. We burst a tyre and lost the deposit on our car hire as a result. DO NOT attempt this road unless you have a 4x4!!!!!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the hospitality and very kind hosts. We loved our dung beetle digs and we loved the pool. The little pond had some very cool birds to watch!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful gardens Food was good Big bathroom
Cons: Room bad lighting Not very private right at entrance Left without finishing our breakfast as we were ignored and had to wait very long to be served while people who arrived much later were served before us.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Conveniently situated. Lovely warm pool. Friendly staff but think the front desk could have been more on the ball with self drive Addo. We were advised that gate opens at 5am and it does but the office to get your permit to get in the gate only opens at 7am.
Cons: Found the dining area a bit dark and the musak boring.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is likely the best place to stay over night in this area. Very friendly personnel and administrators.
Cons: Only buffet dinner (5 courses) is available, not the best option for the light meal. However the buffet is very good, best fit for the big hunger.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful and clean and we were welcomed with champagne on ice which was lovely.
Cons: One thing I didn't like was that there was no curtains on the shower which is usually fine but one morning the man mowing the lawn saw me naked when he went past. It really isn't an issue with me but might be something to look at.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff and the location & buildings were full of history
Cons: Nothing really
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, excellent food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was a bit off the beaten track but peaceful because of it (that is why it is located where it is...). Staff were exceptional. Food wasn't bad for a set menu
Cons: No complaints
9.6 Excellent
Pros: They make the BEST food imaginable, be prepared to eat way too much! The fireplace in the main reception area is beautiful and the hotel is very charismatic. Great kids outdoor play area and a beautiful pool with a view
Cons: The weather !!! It was freezing cold, but that's is not their fault!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and took really good care of us. We asked for a late check out and they told us we could stay until 7 pm if we like to -without charging anything! The room was big, clean and had nice furniture. The view was good and the pool-size was good. Breakfast and dinner were also fine.
Cons: It is an old hotel and there seem to be technical problems especially with the waterdrains. The sauna is also quite old and it would have been nice if they removed the cobwebs from time to time. But they didn’t charge us for the sauna although it’s normally not included in the room rate - so that was very nice!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at Happy Lands. Beautiful place and very friendly hosts. We definetly come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the family atmosphere. Felt like we were leaving family friends behind. Came as a client left as a family.
6.0 Good
Pros: The property itself is very nice, green, family-friendly, lots of space, rooms are clean and big.
Cons: We did not feel warmly welcomed once we arrived. There was a woman standing in for Nita and she basically did not bother to give us a smile or a feeling of being welcomed. But she did not forgot to almost give us an order to come to breakfast no later than 8:15am (really? are we in the army? come on, it's our vacation!). But in case you sleep longer, it's not an issue as the breakfast is very very basic. No plain joghurt (only sweet one), no cheese, no salami and you need to wait for quite some time to get your scrambled eggs. Both lamps were not working in our room, we tried to fix them by ourselves, but I think they are just connected to power in a weird way, so we didn't want to inspect it further and risk the life...

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very nice. Kudu Ridge is something special, near nature, dogs and zebras around the house. Liked the fireplace and open atmoshere they created at their guest house.
Cons: No wifi in the chalet.
7.0 Good
Pros: breakfast good. Dinner exceptional
Cons: chalet only have the basics like bed wardrobe, kettle with cups. no microwave
8.8 Excellent
Pros: On arrival be careful if your car is low as the road is a little uneven, however you are staying on a game reserve. On arrival you are greeted by a friendly smile and welcomed by all the gorgeous 4 legged friends who are more than happy to show you to you accommodation! The accommodation although basic was clean and tidy and we slept like babies! However the reason for my high high recommendation is the owners and staff and the evening welcoming into their home and family. The dinner was amazing and we meet people here and enjoyed swapping stories and places and recommendations! Please stay here! We were sorry we didn’t book more nights! Well done all at kudu ridge! Thanks
Cons: Chairs on the deck to sit and appreciate the view and sunset - but I’m clutching at straws here!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality. Owners and staff are so friendly. The food is delicious.
7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely place, friendly staff, almost like a home away from home, with all the pets hanging about. The deck at sunset was amazing. Great to meet people from various countries around the fire in the evenings.
Cons: Very little not to like, but perhaps just a suggestion for summer sheets in the rooms.

Pros: The host Vicky was very helpful with organising activities (especially on very short notice) and she went out of her way to make my stay as comfortable as possible and she always took time explaining everything regarding the guest house but also in terms of exploring the area. And on top of that I got an upgrade and had a huge room with big terrace right in the nature.Thank you very much
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We just loved our stay!! Vicky is an amazing host, taking such good care of us. On arrival Vicky gave us a perfect introduction what to see/do in the area as well as in the Addo Elephant Park. The park entrance is just a few minutes’ drive away, couldn't be more perfect. The Southern part of the elephant park is less frequented and we saw most of the animals spotted exactly there. Coming back home to our family cottage we enjoyed the very relaxing atmosphere at Vicky's place, the house is fully equipped and you will find everything you need! The attention to details was highly appreciated, the beds are super comfy and the house is spotlessly clean. Vicky is available anytime not only in person but also on whatsapp, which we appreciated a lot. Also her recommendation for a nearby restaurant was superb, we couldn't have a better choice! The premises are very save and also parking is secured. But the highlight was Vicky's phenomenal effort to organize a birthday breakfast celebration for my father - she organized a birthday cake with candles and decorated the breakfast room with balloons - my father was over the moon! We can only say thank you so so much dear Vicky, we will definitely come back and give you only the highest recommendations! Big hugs to you!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location to Addo Elephant Park.
6.7 Good
Pros: The location was good. It was near the Addo Elephant Park and we got some good information about the park and important information about the supermarket/restaurants as well. The host is helpfull.
Cons: The guest house is very noisy so both mornings we were awake at 6/6.30u because the other guests were leaving early of were having breakfast and we could hear them and the host quite loudly. The host told us in advance but it's something you have to take into account when you're a light sleeper. In our opinion, there wasn't that much privacy at the accommodation because the host was present all the time which is not necessary, because she lives next door. (for example when waiting for new guests or during breakfast) It's a good thing to be helpful to your guests, but a good host also needs to know when to leave guests alone at their accommodation during their holiday. It sometimes felt like we were in her own house instead of the guesthouse. Some people may like it when the host is around/to have much contact, but for us it was a bit uncomfortable.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Adequate for a quick overnight stop
Cons: Location is not great. some security concern Shower in bathroom is not a proper shower but a handheld type in a bath with no splash screen
7.5 Good
Pros: Great breakfast
Cons: Location
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Vicky who ran the Guest House was fantastic. I had a lot of communication from her before we got there with details on Addo, other trips, Farm stalls near by. We decided to have food at the accommodation which was very reasonable and tasty, including wine. The property backs onto Addo is a 5 minute drive to the entrance. I don't think there is much to do nearby but we didn't go out at night so I couldn't comment
Cons: Nothing. Everything was good.
