The hotel itself lends to an amazing experience simply because the rooms are carved out from cave walls. The location is great- just a few minutes downhill walk from the city center. The rooms are all different. We were lucky enough to get an elevated one with a balcony and great room. Nice all marble restroom with both standing rain shower and a tub. Also worth mentioning, if you're looking for cute souvenirs, check out Baskent Nazarlik, which is nearby. Great selection of cute jewelry and souvenirs that are of high quality and modern styles. There's also an amazing restaurant right next door upstairs with a glass floor and panoramic view of the city (ask Mustafa from the shop for directions). Amazing food and great prices.
WI-FI DOES NOT REACH THE ROOMS. You can use it in the common areas such as the lobby, restaurant, and pool etc. We kept having to stick our devices out of the door just to get updates every few minutes because it was too cold to sit outside on the balcony. For the average millennial and Gen Z and younger, this will cause discomfort. The rooms are pretty dim, which I suppose is to be expected considering they're in literal caves. A little dingy too, but hey, you're staying in one of the world's oldest civilizations so who cares? Breakfast is decent. Considering how amazing Turkish cuisine can be, their simple selection of cured meats, honey, cheese, yogurt, and bread still left much to be desired, but maybe I'm just an American glutton. Also worth mentioning, the staff approached us several times to solicit us for tours and hot air balloon rides. Kind of irritating. Their prices aren't the best- we found better by negotiating with local travel and experience agencies.
The resort is located in a less busy part of the town, which is nice, it gives you a feeling of being one with nature. The view from their terrace is beautiful. The resort itself is very tastefully built. Rooms are nice and spacious.
There isnt much to do around. If you at the resort, you have to stay in, and eat at their own restaurant.
My American friend was extatic on arrival as she didn't know about the hotels beforehand. It was a fabulous and indeed a memorable stay.
Not very important, but the room had maybe too little lighting and we understand the conditions of being inside the mountain makes WIFI difficult. It was available outside though.
A lovely hotel with cave rooms, however to go to centre it s an uphill to return from centre.
The staff were exceptional. One member of staff turned round when she met us on her way home to make sure we got our balloon booking. Others found out travel information for us and responded to every request with a smile and interest. The situation is stunning. Original, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast was excellent with individually cooked dishes if you wanted, but also a very varied buffet. We were unsure about not being in Goreme but came to Urgup for this hotel .We never regretted it for a minute, and a bonus was that Urgup was much nicer and we could easily access Goreme if needed. If you can book this hotel, do.
