We had a lovely big room on the top floor with a balcony that overlooked the countryside. We saw mongoose, giant squirrel, deer, wild pigs and monkeys from the balcony (as much, if not more, than we saw in the nature reserve!). One macaque even came onto the balcony to peer through the window into our room. We were served a lovely breakfast, on our balcony, by our delightful hosts who also organised us a car to Alleppey when we left. The room was very spacious, the bed comfortable and the facilities fine. There is no restaurant at Kerala House but breakfast was served on our balcony and there are several places to eat within easy walking distance. Kerala House is in a good location within easy walking of the restaurants, shops, Ecotourist centre and buses to the park.
Kerala House was excellent - no complaints. The nature reserve is very touristy and we could not get a ticket for the boat trips (though I don't think we missed much!). We did an early morning "nature walk" which was pleasant but more of a stroll through the woods than a chance to see any wildlife (though we did see a pair of giant squirrels in a tree - almost as close as the one we saw from our balcony!!). Don't expect too much if you have set your heart on a thrilling trip to Periyar nature reserve.
Wonderful warm and friendly hosts who went out of their way to look after us. Such a great location backing directly onto the Periyar Tiger Reserve and a short stroll to restaurants and the main market area. The large rooms are comfortable and clean and the hot shower at the end of the day was much appreciated.
There was common balcony. Impression was given that there will be separate balcony.
Got a ‘delux’ Room on the top floor, really worth it for the view over the park. I did see more animals close up from the veranda than on the lake cruise. The pizza restaurant next door is good.
Liked most of it, would recommend this place. If anything the wardrobe could do with some mould spray.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good advices about things to do (and rather not to do). Great view over a meadow which is part of the Parc and starts exactly at the Kerala House. I liked staying there very much. Room was Clean, spacious and comfy.
