10.0 Excellent
Pros: My capture already says it, we really can not describe how incredible the guesthouse and everything else was, including the super nice staff and service. We stayed in the room Genisis and it was stunning, so much love is put into every detail, so lovely!!! From the veranda you can watch the birds flying around in the beautiful garden or just relax with a cup of tea and Mariannas homemade Muffins (tastes so incredibly good). Marianna is the owner of Braeside. In the morning a wonderful breakfast, consisting of a buffet (fresh fruit, Joghurt, cheese, homemade bread, homemade muffins....+ own orders), is served. It is such a pitty that we just stayed one night at. So if you are staying at Swellendam you should definitely stay at Braeside. A special thanks to Marianna, she is such a warm-hearted person and manages this guesthouse with such a passion. You will love her! We will definitely come back! We wish you all the best! Much love Isabel and Claudio

The garden was also a delight but sadly the weather did not allow us to enjoy it. We particularly appreciated the lovely quality bed-linen! Thank you Marianna! Every good wish, John and Marie (Isle of Wight, UK)

Pros: Great hosts and home. Great breakfast cooked by Des, Wilma was spot on with where ho ho and what to do. A great place wish we had more time yo stay longer.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Des and Wilma were excellent hosts, nothing was too much. The property used to be the town vicarage complex and is accordingly full of character. Comfortable rooms close to the small swimming pool which was handy during the heat. A lovely breakfast was provided by Des. Location is secure amongst other guest houses and there is a great restaurant, Powell House, within 100 yards, which the owners were quick to recommend, and so will I. Will happily return to De Oude Pastorie when next in Swellendam.
Cons: The coffee granules provided in the room weren't great but as I had brought some of my own hardly a burning issue!

Pros: Wilma and Des were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel pampered and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and the room and garden was charming. This is a great place to stay to rest for a night and break up a long journey along the garden route.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and food were A1 !!! Simply amazing
Cons: Couldn’t fault our accomodation! Swellendam is a sleepy town but a good stop on the way to the garden route.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is pure magic. The little cottages are hidden in a green park, in the middle of plants in a very neat environment. The cottages are like small museums. No matter where you look, you will always find new things to explore. The stuff was extraordinary friendly and attentively. At night we had dinner at the restaurant. 7 different courses that just left us speechless. The cook put so much effort and love in it, we were delighted. The wine selection was small, but extraordinary and straight to the point. In between the courses the owner told us stories about the background of the place and the stuff and revealed some secrets of the food preparation. We enjoyed every single minute of the dinner and hoped it would never stop. The next morning the magic continued with the breakfast. With distance the best breakfast that we had in South Africa so far. The bread was self made and still warm, a nice selection of different cheese, home made jam, local delicacies, muffins, granola etc.. Also you could order different Omelettes (super delicious) and flapjacks (to die for) and a lot more. Everything, and I really mean EVERYTHING, was perfect during our stay. We enjoyed it so much and it was one of our holiday highlights. I just can recommend anyone to go there when in Swellendam. And even if it is not on the list yet, put it on there.
Cons: Nothing. It was perfect.

Pros: Very very nice estate , very well designed, and great hospitality.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything about Bloomestate was stylish. Our room was decorated to depict one of the elements. Fire. Thus it was red and black. The first black lav I’ve ever sat on! Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The view of the mountains is simply amazing. The service is really good. They recommended a pizza in town and the food there was really good as well. We had a great time.
Cons: The villa/hotel rooms look a little sober because of the colors and there aren't a lot paintings/art on the wall.

5.8 Okay
Pros: The location is good. The staff are helpful. The food is excellent.
Cons: The property has a sign at the gate with the word luxury in big letters, but this is a misleading adjective. When we arrived at the hotel, we could not gain access as no one answered the intercom or telephone. This set the tone for the stay. The staff give 100% , but there are not enough of them and the staff they currently have need extra training. Our dinner experience was disappointing on the second night due to the inadequate service level. If the property is advertising a luxury experience , an improved level of service is needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Incredible accommodation and everything in the room was top standard.
Cons: The only thing was the slight attitude of staff at dinner .. I don’t like being told to “talk English” and when querying the bill was met with a very flustered front of house ... made it very uncomfortable being a small place ... the main plate was not great although the starters and hors d’oeuvres were ... saying that the waitron at breakfast was brilliant and we had nothing to fault with breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is nothing we dislike about our stays here, we have stayed in every room over the years and each one is beautifully decorated to the highest standards. The staff are always on hand to deal with any requests and are so helpful and happy, the food is amazing both breakfast and dinners. The pool area is always immaculate and the whole estate is peaceful, the perfect place to relax, thank you so much for a wonderful stay - can’t wait to come back!!
