Fun to experience luxury from a bygone era. Nice bar with reasonable prices, great selection of cocktails (including those made with rye and bourbon) and terrific bar snacks. Easy parking, especially for a European hotel.
Nothing not to like
Breakfast was Ok, I was expecting a little more variety from a hotel of this standing.
Staff were 'ok', reception desk area tiny for a hotel this size.
We chose the hotel for the antique furnishings and the indoor grotto pool, we were not dissappointed. It really is rather special (though we saw later there appear to be more such hotels along the water front in Stresa). The grounds are nice too and we spent the afternoon relaxing by the outdoor pool. The indoor pool has to be the best we've ever seen. The dining room is also majestic, and there is a nice spread for breakfast.
The rooms are not very sound proof, but we were lucky with our neighbours.
Hotel geared really to tour groups therefore difficult foe example to get bar service during the day when groups out and about Very good breakfast Room clean and spacious
No warm welcome for individual guests arriving outside time schedule for room availability
The outward appearance of the hotel, as well as the lobby, bar section, and front patio looking toward Lake Maggiore, were lovely, with lots of marble, crystal chandeliers and an old-world elegance. Also, the pool area restaurant and surroundings were quite beautiful and upscale.
The room where we stayed was small and awkwardly arranged. But by far the worst part was the bed! It was literally hard as a rock and I believe it was made of wood with just some thin sheets covering it. We've NEVER had such an uncomfortable bed in all our travels. Also, some of the staff were very snippy and dismissive--to the point of being outright rude.
With a stay at Regina Palace Hotel in Stresa, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Borromeo Plaza and Lake Maggiore. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-in, and express check-out. Free self parking is available onsite.
