Good location! Nice views from the balcony
The place doesn’t seem to be looked after. We had a shared balcony and it had wet mattresses and pillows on it from next door that smelled.
I always like the vibe at Nomads and the big lounge with fire and communal eating and cooking space.
I couldn’t be bothered to complain st the time (so my fault), but the air conditioning did not work, the tv did not work, one of the bulbs was blown and so a bit dark in half the room (none of which particularly bothered me), but the annoyance was that the sink was so blocked it took about 4hrs to drain after washing my hands/doing my teeth.
Awesome location and nice rooms
We got an amazing post-covid deal - dorms were $11 per/night (which is insane for Queenstown - normally they're around $30-$40). The location was great, people very friendly and shared area spacious and warm. Rooms were very clean, and most facilities seemed relatively new, nice couches, pool table etc...
A few things were broken - I gather lots of people were staying there during lockdown and they haven't fixed them yet. There was only one set of ladies bathrooms open (we stayed on the first floor, and they were on the second). Of the three toilets, one didn't lock and one was blocked. One soap dispenser was broken and in the sink, the other was empty. The drain in the shower I used was broken, and would lift up whenever I stood on it (and quite sharp). The sauna was also out of order. From talking to other people, it sounds like other dorms had bathrooms connected (presumably to better track who uses what). We also stayed a few nights later in a private room on the third floor and had a vastly superior experience.
We got an insanely cheap deal for a private room - I'm guessing the lack of international tourists has drive prices down. We paid $41 for a private room for two, which included an ensuite, king bed, deck and little shampoo sachets. Best price I've ever seen in Queenstown! Location was right in town, with views of the lake. We were across from a bar, which had really nice live music playing until about 10pm - we opened the door to hear more! Sauna was closed due to Covid, but other than that very happy!
