I’ve stayed at this hotel for about a decade now, as it’s perfectly located on the beach, and we’ve gotten to know a few of the staff. .. and they’ve been wonderful. In fact, I would bet this is the finest hotel in this zone. For consideration,. I think it’s time for a faster computer system to enhance scheduling of rooms, check in and check out process, as it seems they are doing things old school or manual, and better training of reservation staff may be needed. Maid, parking, maintenance and restaurant staff appear fine. They charge 450 pesos for a what appears to be a resort fee outside of a pre made reservation. But what does that include (better to be upfront with this and out this on the receipt or part of the pre charge process. Also, They had maid staff knock on your door at 7/8 in the morning. They got rid of the money/tip envelopes for maid services (which is another Covid change? Don’t know). While it was an excellent stay, these hotel services needs some updates and would enhance future returns. Something to think about. But, I am open to hearing the hotel’s pov on these customer service matters,too. Wi-Fi is another issue as it doesn’t reach the rooms, which would be wise to advertise the truth of what you’re getting, or open a business Center, where people can remotely work. Now, the flip side, it does look as thought they are building a new elevator? Which is seriously needed on the tower side.
Cons:We weren’t inform if we loose one of the bracelets you will have to pay extra for a new one. Otherwise everything was good

Pros:For the most part, the staff was wonderful, and especially helpful and friendly were the guys supplying the pool and beach chairs and umbrellas. Also a special mention for Marcella. She does an excellent job of keeping the beach and pool areas in order, while also having a smile and being sociable. I don't want to forget our maid. She took great care of our room.
Cons:Just a few things I didn't like. The internet service is not good. It's bad enough to have to go to the lobby for service, but even that was spotty. The staff in the restaurant were impatient and a little cranky at times, but I think this might be because, in my opinion, the restaurant is understaffed. Just one more thing. We have some friends that live in Puerto Vallarta, and wanted to have them up to our room to have a cocktail before we all went out to dinner. They were turned away, and think that was rediculous.
Pros:The location is really good. The rooms are clean (our maid was a delight; she worked hard and the cleanliness of the room showed it). The hotel staff is dynamite. The hotel is older and showing some signs to wear-and-tear, this is to be expected along the ocean. I would definitely stay at the Tropicana again!
Cons:The restaurant and bar need some special attention! Some of the staff, in these locations, is ill-tempered and uncaring; this was in sharp contrast to the graciousness of the rest of the staff. Food choices were limited and the restaurant was not open for dinner. The Tropicana, to be a major hotel contender in P.V., needs to attend to their food and beverage departments.
