Great upgrade when we asked if there was a quieter room
We were asked to move rooms for the final night. Then when we’d moved, asked to move back again!
Beautiful building, amazing art and furniture, clean and beautifully decorated. Staff especially Alex very friendly and helpful. Appreciated the bottle of Prosecco chilling in our room on arrival for our anniversary. Easy walk to downtown, bars and restaurants.
No breakfast or in-room tea and coffee, but hot drinks available in reception 24/7 and bakery across the road (Tandem) was exceptional. Great selection of in-room local snacks, but for a charge. Really only minor niggles, we had a great stay.
Nice quiet room, pleasant staff. Room was spotless, hotel lobby was pretty with a cool fireplace. Parking was free, location was good. Cool adjoining restaurant, glad our room was away from the restaurant, think it could have been noisy.
It was a little high for what it is. No in room coffee- hate going into the lobby for coffee first thing in the morning and I guess that was the most surprising (and the Lobby coffee was subpar)-but coffee is super important to me first thing in the morning lol. No laundry bags. Not a lot of extras here or didn’t feel like it in the room.
We enjoyed the space in the king suite and it was quiet as we requested for a restful sleep. Staff was extremely friendly with excellent recommendations for dining when we inquired.
It took some thought to come up with what could be better since we were extremely satisfied with our stay. We did get coffee in the morning in the lobby and my black coffee tasted good while the cream curdled in my husbands.
location, amenities in the room, warm welcome
security was terrible: door lock was broken; the outside door did not latch (anyone could break in by just pushing it); the staff did not know the code of their own door. Even a historic facility should probably have key cards in this day and age. Lack of staff training: no one around during "normal" hours; unable to answer simple questions about the place. Seemed to be recent hires with no briefing. Exception: the man who was on duty when we arrived.
