location is excellent and in an historic building
Front desk staff very rude; claiming problems with reservation made with hotels.com; pool closed for maintenance without any notice.
Location, service of staff, willingness to help
Everything was great
Really Great Hotel with One Big Exception
Had a really great time in New Orleans and coming back to our hotel room was always a treat. Fantastic price for a very comfortable room and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
What I did not appreciate was when I went to check out, I was told that mI was being charged for a night of valet: $42. I explained I didn't have a car in NOLA and that we've relied on Lyft the entire time. The staff asked that I was sure I didn't use valet or that maybe a friend had spent the night. I explained again, calmly if somewhat confused, that no, it was just the two of us and that had we a friend with a car, we'd use their car and not taxis/Lyft. I was told it would be taken care of but after breakfast, we went back to the front desk just to make sure. There I was told that someone had used my name to add this charge to my account, asked again if I was sure I didn't have a friend visit - as though this prompt would jog my memory of a friend I'd forgotten about visiting. The manager came out and told me that I would still be charged the $42 until they could launch an "investigation" and then reimburse me. I didn't argue too much but I feel it really is ridiculous that a customer should bear any financial burden for their mix-up. I cannot explain the circumstances but I know I had no car and no guests, so why must I be charged $42 for a mistake made by an international company? I feel as though Hilton could eat the cost of an unsolved mystery, rather than treating the guest as untruthful until proven otherwise. It just seems like bad business and it left a really bad taste in my mouth at the end of a stay at an otherwise lovely stay. No word as to how long this investigation process will take.
Generally a very good stay
Staff was quick, friendly and helpful Bathroom was first-rate; excellent fixtures and amenities Large room by NOLA standards Great location Plugs by the bed Lobby is very inviting
TV difficult to navigate; few stations Pocket door to bathroom not ideal, and ours did not close; however, when we reported this, it was promptly fixed Lots of streetcar noise and sidewalk music on 4th floor facing St. Charles Bedside USB charger did not charge; however, adjacent socket worked; would have been nice to have this on both sides of the bed
Delay in getting towels when calling Response time was greater than 30 minutes
Good Location, nice room and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. I'd stay there again!
Asked for wash rags twice. Even went down to front deak in person. Never got them.
Location was convenient, it is walking distance to the French quarter. Staff was friendly, room was clean.
Parking is pricey. It is across the street and it is $25 for 24hrs. Beds were really small. Bathroom was also small.
So much better than the 4 points Sheraton!!!
Loved this hotel! Wish we would've booked all 4 nights here! The only reason we stayed here Saturday night was because the Sheraton on Bourbon didn't have a room available. We had booked the Sheraton sun through weds and then decided we were going to New Orleans Saturday also. Needless to say, will stay here anytime I go to New Orleans! AWESOME hotel! Beds are very comfortable and the bathroom was huge! And this hotel is well within walking distance of the French Quarter! Staff is very friendly!
An expensive stay
Close to French Quarter.
Very expensive for the quality of the room, our windows were facing a wall, the room was located on the third floor. The front desk had poor customer service.
Poor Resolution to Issues
The room was spacious (we chose space over views) and the beds were comfortable. Very clean and the maid service was excellent - my colleague's wallet fell out of her bag inside the room as we rushed out to dinner and the maid put it on the center of the bed so we could see it immediately when we got back. The room was quiet (on the top floor) and the location is an easy walk to the French Quarter.
Tried to order room service and couldn't get through to either the number in the menu or the number on the phone (which were different). After half an hour, called the front desk and told them the issue; they said they would call the restaurant manager and have her call my room directly. That took another half an hour and then the order I got was wrong. Didn't have time to call and correct it, so I paid $35 for the wrong breakfast and went outside the hotel the rest of the trip. Should have realized when there wasn't a pre-order form to place on the door that ordering breakfast in might not be a regular routine? When checking out, I asked for a copy of the bill showing the total paid with a zero remaining balance, which I need for travel reimbursements at work. Was told I would need to get that through the booking service (I used Kayak, which I find dependable). I was able to convince the person checking me out that I needed a hotel bill that showed I do not owe any balance, but this shouldn't require so much time and explanation - don't people stay here frequently enough for business that staff understand the standard documentation process? As a frequent traveler, I haven't had this issue anywhere else with a rating above 3 stars.
Nice Hotel-Would go back
Good location. Close enough to walk to the French Quarter but far enough away to get out of the craziness and noise. Right on St. Charles streetcar line- very convenient. Very large room and bathroom. Very clean. Great bed. Good towels. Would definitely stay here again!
Expensive but then it is New Orleans! Price was pretty much on par with other hotels of the same type. Huge bathroom but almost nowhere to hang towels. Another towel rack or a few more hooks would have been nice and there was plenty of room for them.
