It's a great value for money. A 5-minute walk from the Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre. 1-minute walk from the Stoleshnikov with its shops and cafes. Quiet and clean. The staff were super friendly and nice. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as there are plenty of nice places to eat right round the corner.
The noisy, dust and bathroom smell (like if someone has been smoking).
Hotel is in a pretty perfect location, about 15 minutes walk from Red Square and only minutes from a street full of restaurants and coffee places. I wouldn't want to be closer to Red Square as it's busy and noisy around there. The hotel was on a quiet road, easy to find. I had a good sleep there in a comfortable bed in quiet surroundings. The fridge was empty when we arrived which was good as we could place drinks etc in it. The water pressure in the shower was strong.
My room was not as big as the example photos would lead you to believe. The room was not thoroughly cleaned, with a filthy coffee cup in our freezer on arrival from a previous guest. It also had a stuffy, damp feeling in the air when coming back in from touristing, necessitating the windows to be open a lot of the time. The wifi wasn't the strongest.
The hotel is in a great location and is in a lovely building. We had trouble with hot water for the first 4 days of our stay, something to do with the city supply (out of their control), but still it is very inconvenient (along with some other things that were a little shabby). They were accomodating to our concerns, and it could be very nice here, but it needs some real thought and attention to live up to its real expectations.
It is a nice, small hotel, located in the very center of the city. It is only 15 min walk to the Red Square. The rooms are nice as well, but some of them have very small windows.
Some people of the hotel staff are really attentive and service-oriented. But not all of them. The evening before I left I asked the receptionist to order me a taxi for the next morning. When I arrived in the hotel lobby in the morning the receptionist was sleeping. Obviously he had forgotten about the taxi. After I asked him again he ordered it. But he did not at all help me with my luggage, although it was very heavy. I can understand that someone is tired very early in the morning and does not want to work. But I expect a receptionist in a hotel like the Stoleshnikov to be more professional.
