The people in the hostel
Poor customer service, dirty dated hot rooms, dirty dated bathrooms. Social area was closed at 11 and sofas stacked up so had nowhere cool to relax as the rooms were boiling. Internet has only 500mb before you’re cut off and directed to pay for more limited internet. They say it’s ample for browsing but it really isn’t.
Dirty kitchen, very noisy even during night, false fire alarm at 3am, room not very secure
I don’t really know what’s good about the place bar the location as it’s very close to trams. On my check in I was asked to sign a disclaimer stating I would not consume alcohol or drugs on the premises. That was fine, I had no problem respecting this policy. However within ten minutes I met at least 15-20 other guests with wine beer etc in their hands, drinking on stairs, taking over the kitchen drinking wine, taking over pool table and common room drinking and making noise. I understand everyone is entitled to enjoy themselves but I understood it was against policy to consume alcohol on the premises. It was around 9pm that these people were drinking. At 10pm the noise and music stopped inside the hostel, it made its way to the front outside door of the hostel with over 20 people taking over the footpath which was extremely intimidating , the outside door was propped open with pillows , I did not feel safe or secure staying here. That night the party went on until 5 am, with noise and cheering going on through the corridors. During the night with the noise I went to go to the toilet and could not get into the bathroom as cubicles we’re locked as there was a party now taking place in the cubicle. Next morning there was broken bottles and cigarettes in the the bathrooms, absolute disagrace and so dangerous for anyone intending on washing themselves in that bathroom! I heard people complaining to staff at reception about this and the lady behind the desk replied “ok I’ll see” no apology or nothing offered . On another note, the kitchen does not have the cooking facilities or space for the number of guests. About 5 plates and no forks or mugs on almost every occasion and again only seating area for about 16 people. There was never any matches or lighters to light the gas, there was signage saying wash and dry your dishes which was always ignored.
The room was full of damp, cold , made me so ill that I had to leave after 2 nights. People would smoke and drink In the toilets. My pillows and blanket were yellow
Great environment, good hospitality, and high value for the price. Free Pancakes every morning was excellent.
The water in the shower wasn't warm. too small kitchen and not enough pots to cook. My room was near the balcony so it was too loud from ppl talking all day.
