Excellent 9.6
Pros: Lovely resort. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff, beautiful rooms and grounds. Excellent quality and variety of breakfast items. While slightly out of downtown, that also made it very quiet and serene, and getting into town was easy and efficient. Would definitely return.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The hotel is lovely situated on the Nam Khan river banks, inside a green garden and with a large pool with many sunbeds and umbrellas. I booked a bungalow which ensured a lot of living and storage space, a very stylish furniture, a large and comfortable bed, a frigo bar with also complimentary water, fresh fruit basket on arrival, excellent WIFI and a beautiful terrace. The staff was very kind and helpful all the time. I had no problem for an early check-in.
Cons: The hotel was not very close to downtown (20-25 minutes walking) and there were no tuk-tuk in the area since the closeby bridge is only for scooters (tuk-tuk and cars had to do a much longer way). The bamboo bridge, which in principle was the shorter walking way to dowtown, was broken (I had to take a boat to cross the river). There was also a free shuttle from the hotel to be booked about one hour in advance (may it be could be helpful to have it also at least at some fixed hours from downtown). The breakfast was surprisingly quite poor for a 4 star hotel (no local food). There were several small ants in the room, so no food should be left in.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Loved the location of the hotel, cleanliness of the rooms and hotel in general as it's a new hotel, swimming pool was fantastic, service was excellent and all the staff attentive.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A nice hotel with great pool area and with friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms with comfortable beds and nice soft pillows.
Cons: Unfortunately our room rate did not include complimentary breakfast. And that $20 US per person for breakfast was a little expensive particularly, as our stay was low season. This made us go elsewhere for most of our meals and all our breakfasts.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great resort. We even decided to come back after a trip into the jungle and got upgraded to a separate bungalow. Beautiful big room. Enormous bathroom and wonderful bed. The poon are is lovely and you are right by the river. Restaurant is good too. While you are in very peaceful surroundings at the hotel, town is only a walk away. Think it took us about 10-15 minutes to get into town.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Wonderful location, even though it is not central. Enjoyed using the bicycles. Great swimming pool
Good 7.5
Pros: The triple room size with en-suite bathroom and terrace (1/F) was good and bed were comfortable. Safety box, fridge, aircon, outdoor furniture, slippers, bathroom items were welcome. The pool was just great. The restaurant was a nice place with its outdoor terrace. Walking distance to the centre (15 to 20min)
Cons: All extra services were expensive (restaurant, taxi, tours, beverage,...) that is why we used other suppliers The men service in restaurant can be improved. There is no shuttle service (or basic arrangement) from hôtel to city center so you need to walk across the old bridge (which can be scary by night or rainy day) or use a 40000tak tuk tuk to be driven there (using another bridge) but it is right there are also free bikes to rent. The night price is quite expensive for Lao.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Super kind, helpful and friendly staff The pool, the location of the hotel
Cons: Nothing much to complain about really
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Good location, delicious breakfast, nice staff, clean and good service.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: It is a wonderful experience when staying at Luang Prabang!!! I am happy to recommend the hotel. Staff is so friendly and care anything for the customer. Although little far to downtone, however, just take a walk a few times or rent-free bicycle. In addition, they also provide free shuttle bus if customer needing. In the peripheral equipment, is so comfortable for the guest room, a relaxed atmosphere. Especially the swimming pool, it has beautiful designing and view. In a word, everything is so greater!!!
Cons: No

Excellent 8.8
Pros: The jungle feel, very authentic experience. The bungalows were beautiful and the breakfast was yummy.
Cons: The wifi constantly dropped out. I would recommend that a stronger system is installed.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful The shuttle into city was easy to use. Fantastic breakfast All was great
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I would definitely recommend the riverside bungalow. The views are gorgeous and it's very private and peaceful. Breakfast is huge and delicious and there's a lot to choose from. The bungalow is very big and comfortable. Free water refills, free bikes, free shuttle to the center, a refreshing pool and friendly smiles are other perks of this place.
Cons: I liked it all
Excellent 9.6
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at a riverside bungalow here: the surroundings and the garden provide a stunning setting; all staff were helpful and made special efforts to make us feel at home; the room is spacious, super clean, and stylish. Breakfast is served on the patio of the bungalow; and there is a regular shuttle service to/ from the center of town.
Cons: If you don't mind a location outside the peninsula heart of town and if the price does not provide an obstacle, then I can see no drawbacks (perhaps with the exception of the mediocre wifi connection inside our bungalow at the edge of the hotel).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The cabins overlooking the river were private and it was lovely getting breakfast on the balcony. The breakfast was AMAZING. Free bicycles for use (which I used every day) and free shuttle to/from town. Everything was super clean and the staff were lovely.
Cons: They could have offered more information about things to do in town and also practical advice about seeing by waterfalls. They said flip flops would be enough (but you definitely need covered shoes if you want to climb up)
Excellent 9.6
Pros: We had a fantastic stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too hard for them. The breakfast was fantastic and delivered to your room punctually. Great choices should suit anybody. The gardens were lovely and the view from the balcony was great. Out of town a little bit but only 5 minutes in the courtesy bus. Also free use of bicycles was fun. would highly recommend.
Cons: Couldn't really fault this place. The pool was across the lane but that wasn't a problem. The pool was pristine. Only issue was that you couldn't really walk to town but it didn't bother us.
Excellent 9.7
Pros: I stayed at Thongbay with a friend and Could not have been more satisfied with the guest house. Our bungalow overlooked a beautiful garden and every morning we had a delicious breakfast on the porch. The staff was incredibly helpful and organized transportation throughout Luang Prabang for the whole stay. The bungalow was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning was a huge plus!
Cons: The location is a bit far from the center of town, but they do have a free shuttle that runs several times during the day. It would have been nice to have had a little more flexibility in terms of our ability to get into the main part of town, but we made it work!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Breakfast and dinner were delicious and stuffs were kind. Everything is clean. There are a lot of green, and it's near liver. I really relaxed with beautiful environment.
Cons: Some geckos came in our room. They are not dangerous but I felt scared a bit.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Extraordinary friendly and supportive staff. Even though the guesthouse is located a little bit outside (2 km) of downtown you can rent either a bicycle from the hotel for free or use the free shuttle to downtown. Also the areal was all located in a nice made up area with a beautiful garden, cute bungalows and perfect view to the river. It felt truly like the paradise. The breakfast options were great too. And again the staff was always helpful and supportive but never pushy in any way. They even picked you up from the airport free of charged and helped with renting scooters and organizing or bus to Vientiane.
Cons: There was literally nothing to complain.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: All staffs I met are gentle, and breakfast was big and delicious:)
Cons: It’s a little bit far from the city, but they took us to the city by a car. So you don’t need to worry about it too much
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great staff location breakfast found a secret hideaway that we will never forget staff beautiful
Cons: Everything was wonderful

Cons: Everything was good.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I wish to thank everyone at Merry Riverside Hotel. Madam Khuyen and Mr Dung are the owners and they have a beautiful Hotel. The furnishings in the room are in immaculate condition, their Hotel is clean and the "shoes off at the door" policy not only helps with cleanliness but also keeps to tradition. An excellent Hotel to visit for everyone of any age. Mr Jain is the Head of the staff and is the man in charge of everything. He will greet you on arrival with a "welcome cocktail" and fruit. He will explain the local area and provide you with map. His English is superb and throughout your stay he will help with your every need. He can organise excursions, food delivery, the "free pedal bicycle service" provided by the owners, laundry and all other matters important to you. Breakfast is served on an outside decking overlooking the river. Mr Den is the cook and the breakfast he makes is amazing. The menu consists of a variety of dishes to cater for every taste. The banana pancake with honey was one of my personal favourites. Mr Den prepares each order freshly with an excellent taste. Ms Sen, Jua and Ms Pa are the waitresses, they bring the menu to the table, you relax with a cold or hot drink whilst your breakfast is prepared and they return with your freshly cooked breakfast. The cleanliness of the rooms are of a superior standard, they are cleaned daily with fresh linen, towels and toiletries. Each and everyone member of staff will greet you everyday with a welcoming smile and they will help and advise you with your every need. I have and will continue to recommend this fantastic Hotel to family, friends and colleagues because everything is amazing. Thank you to everyone.
Cons: Everything marvelous No complaints. Amazing Hotel
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The staff were great, the location was great, they helped us organize amazing tours to local attractions, the breakfast was great, the shower in the bathroom was great, the room was super spacious, and they provided extra water when we ran out. We loved this place and would stay there again!!
Cons: The bed was a little hard, that's the only negative thing I can think of!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything, the hotel, people and Laos are amazing.
Cons: Fantastic small hotel in a great position with very friendly knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended staying here.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was amazing. They were extremely friendly and willing to help in any way possible. Some of the best service that you can get from a hotel.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: This hotel is beautiful. A careful upgrade of a colonial house, the rooms are tastefully decorated. The place is spotless with the double level mezzanine bed area giving it a romantic feel. The hotel has a superb deck next to the Mekong which provides a lovely spot to sit and have a drink and watch the river boats drift by. The old town in Luang Prabang is like a postcard and this hotel is one of the highlights. A mention to the lovely staff who were friendly, helpful and effiicnet in recommendations and bookings. The food in the hotel is also worth the visit.
Cons: Take care coming down the stairs from the bed at night
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The staff were wonderful, everyone was very thoughtful and caring about our needs while the hotel, rooms and restaurant were designed most carefully and lovingly. Breakfast was super nice and the view over the Mekong River very atmospheric. We will truly miss this place.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Very good accommodation and staff very nice.
Cons: Noise from street.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The attention to detail and genuine care for you to just relax and enjoy your stay by everyone involved with the hotel.
Cons: NA
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Excellent location. The hotel is superb and the staff friendly and professional.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This little hotel didn’t miss a thing. From a friendly, attentive staff, a great location with fantastic views, free sunset cruise with a complimentary drink, breakfast available all day long so one can enjoy at their convenience, not at a time convenient for the hotel, goodies refilled in the room everyday, providing shuttle service to and from the airport for a small fee to late checkout if they can accommodate are all that made this hotel a gem.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Really nice hotel and the terrace restaurant has a great view. Very peaceful and just what we needed following a hectic time in some big cities around Asia. Very helpful stay who were happy to try and accommodate us. The book in the room had lots of helpful hints and tips and really helped during our stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was in a great location. The staff were the best!! Very personable.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Nice location, nice building, very friendly and helpfull personal. Service with a big smile.
Cons: A swimming pool would be nice but is impossible at this location.

Pros: Beautiful property with balconies overlooking the Mekong River. The staff was so kind and attentive. The pool/spa is a short walk away from the hotel and it is a beautiful pool to spend the afternoon by. Breakfast at the Riverview restaurant is delightful.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Location Nice boutique hotel Staff View
Cons: Be aware that this hotel is not in an area but includes some separate properties (ie: swimming pool is quite far from the reception, some rooms can be away ~100-200-300 m from the reception and restaurant, you have to go across the road to reach the restaurant...) so it could cause some inconvenience
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Loved the hotel!! The rooms where lovely and the beds were the best we slept in in Laos!! Location was fantastic!
Good 6.7
Pros: The facilities are lovely and I really want to give this hotel an excellent rating. BUT - see below. The rooms are well decorated and water/tea/coffee provided. All the buildings are done in the style to comply with UNESCO standards. One night there was wine in the garden and it was lovely.
Cons: But I did NOT have hot water. I told the staff and they said it was fixed but it was not. Upon checking out I informed them again and he really didn't seem to care and only offered a half-hearted "sorry". This hotel was not cheap and I can't give higher marks. Also, the internet didn't work well in my room.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The agreeability of the staff.
Cons: The breakfast could have had more choice.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location by the Mekong.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Such a lot of thought has gone into creating this special hotel. The staff were superb - warm and friendly. Delightful location. New spa was excellent
Cons: We can’t think of anything negative to say
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Amazing pearl in the beautiful city of Luang Prabang! Mr. Urban and his lovely team created a wonderful atmosphere and special place to relax and enjoy life! The little restaurant where the breakfast is served gives a stunning view on the Mekong. The food is great and at night time you‘ll enjoy your dinner in the light of little lanterns. The rooms are great and the team is willing to make everything possible!
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The design was beautiful
Cons: The pool was over the river, over a horribly rickety bridge which you had to pay 10k kip to cross.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing location on the river. Rooms are nice with outside space not all have river views but they are lovely as is the location of the hotel. The breakfasts are terrific and the seating is on the river with lovely views. Staff was helpful and very friendly.

Pros: staffs are friendly. Location is good.
Cons: At the back of the building is too close to others. not privacy. we cannot see anything.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful surroundings and perfect location.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Everything was excellent but the SPA was outstanding.
Good 6.3
Pros: Colonial period room decor evocative of the charm and romance during those times. Hotel has an excellent laid-back atmosphere that allows you to while your time away on its premises or by the river in the lower terrace. Lovely spa on premises. Breakfast comes with a daily special that offers variety and a taste of local flavors. Menu served by the restaurant is limited but of decent quality.
Cons: Was given a room on the ground floor that afforded little privacy since tourists and vehicles abound. The windows have to be left open for light to enter the room. Closing the windows gave more privacy but darkened the room considerably. As the room was very near the roadside, it was noisy whenever vehicles passed which happened very frequently throughout the morning and evenings. Service was overall patchy.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Hotel provided a different cultural experience everyday, Almsgiving, market visit and cooking class, sunset cruise, cocktails and staff went out of their way to make these comfortable, educational and enriching. Food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the lunch we had on arrival, very fresh, exquisitely prepared and presented. Breakfast was delightful with the special of the day, a local speciality as well as eggs to order, yogurt, fruit, a variety of breads. We were upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the river, such a wonderful view of trees, plants and butterflies. The room was spacious, the wood so traditional, yet the shower in the room itself unusually modern in the French style. Coconut - based toiletries gave us a taste of the traditional materials in Lao culture, the kettle and provided chamomile tea were very welcome. The effort to reduce waste is also very good as we noticed that the use of plastic is minimal. Most of all, the kind and caring staff made us feel special and that they valued our visit and enjoyed sharing their culture with us.
Cons: Lighting could be brighter at the mirrors as the shadows prevented us from seeing our faces clearly. We just assumed there was a pool but understand that the Unesco restriction doesn't permit it. Maybe a bathtub is preferable to a shower for a soak in the hot weather?
Excellent 9.7
Pros: The staff were amaxing! Good breakfast. Very relaxed and elegant environment.
Cons: The shower water was very frustrating! It kept changing from very hot to cold. Made having a shower a disappointing experience.
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Decoration in room with a lot of wood and antique style
Cons: Bicycles they have for free are a bit outdated
Excellent 8.5
Pros: The design of the room was great. Good location facing Nang Khan river. Breakfast wad great as well as staff were very friendly.
Cons: Bathroom was too dark.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Rooms were very comfortable, classy. Staff were friendly n accommodating. Loved the balcony n the river view. Free Complimentary activity ( alms giving) is highly appreciated. We stayed in 3 resorts during for visit to LP. I loved this place the most .
Cons: There was a renovation work going on , hence it was noisy n a bit dusty during our breakfast. But it doesn’t stop me from visiting the resort again. Breakfast spread was very limited and very minimum for a vegetarian like me ( thanks to chef to arrange some cooked vegetables) and fried spring rolls.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The room and facilities in general. Very good breakfast
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Location was excellent and I was very pleased by the staff. Mr. Sone went out of his way to help me retrieve a credit card lost in the local ATM. Many thanks to him and the rest of the staff
Cons: Everything was great
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The staff went out of their way to ensure we were happy and content. There was an excellent spa on site.
Cons: I can think of nothing that we didn’t like.

Pros: The location is very good, the staff are helpful.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lum, the owner, met me when I arrived. Instead of starting the standard checkin most hotels do he said "Please have a seat." Almost immediately a plate of fresh fruit and a fruit shake appeared. Lum said to relax and enjoy. When I was finished, Lum sat down with me and a map of Luang Prabang. He then proceeded to show me many places of interest, places to eat, night market, fresh food market, etc. which he marked for me on the map. This map saved me hours of looking online for info and hours of wandering down the wrong streets. Plus some of the places he recommended I would not have found on my own. Throughout my stay it was like this. Lum, his wife, and staff going the extra mile. They treat you like family. I arrived a stranger, but left feeling like they were my friends. The room was nice. Bed was comfortable. Free laundry is included. The breakfast was yummy and a good selection of choices. The location was great! I will be going back soon!!!
Cons: There is a sports pub not far away that plays crappy pop music and is kind of loud at night. Apparently they are violating local noise ordinances, so hopefully it will no longer be a problem soon.
Good 7.1
Pros: Location. Clean rooms. The owners are lovely, they were just never there.
Cons: Absolutely no information provided on check in about.. anything. Not ideal when travelling alone. Never anyone on reception which made it impossible to book tours, make enquiries etc. Really loud party across the road the first night, they did finish at 11.30 however. The staff apart from the owners have no English which is fine, but were also really unfriendly. The balcony does not overlook the river.
Good 6.7
Pros: It was nice and quiet. I loved being able to have breakfast at the table just outside of my room. Very tranquil little place.
Cons: I booked a double room online but I was then given a room with two twin beds on the bottom floor. The rate stayed the same.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The best thing is the owners and his family. They are so kind, friendly and supported us so well. We did laundry here at the best rate. Highly recommend! And another thing - the location is perfect
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Staff was lovely. Location was perfect, room was a decent size with a balcony. We also booked a motorbike and a taxi back to the airport through them. They were also helpful regarding information about the town and surrounding activities
Cons: The room and bathroom could do with some maintenance.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The owner upgraded our room for free, the room is spacy and with a balcony! Drinking water served everyday~~ The owners of the homestay is a Vietnamese family, they are so kind with fluent English, we've had a great relax here, thanks a lot!
Cons: The breakfast is so simple that we can't get full. The location of the basin and tolet paper scroll are unfit, but isn't important~
Excellent 9.6
Pros: A friendly Family operated small hotel. good sized comfortable rooms. full menu choice of breakfast. great value for money. would recommend without hesitation.
Cons: nothing to complain about
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I loved my stay. It was great!!!
Cons: No complaints whatsoever
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Within walking distance to all the major attractions such as Palace museum, temples and rivers. The night market and eatery are within 10 minutes reach as well. So, this place is very convenient.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: the location is good near to center city , so many rest around the hotel staff also friendly ,breakfast is good , i like specially the ice COFFEE ^^ i like the room, we got the balcony one its really nice just to seat n relax after walking

Cons: Bathroom could be better, but was ok. a little noisy at night.
Excellent 8.3
Cons: The quality of the beds
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Good breakfast, did not seem to be any limit. Excellent fruit salad, eggs cooked as you like and local specialities. Breakfast served in garden.
Cons: Complex built to Asia standard i.e. doors not closing easily few power points. To turn off lights you had to go to front door. No reading light over bed. Hanging space four hangers but limited hanging space.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Staff, breakfast, greenery, quiet, secluded from street, tuk-tuk drivers know the hotel. (I was traveling with a western female friend who stayed in another room and she loved the place.)
Cons: This boutique hotel was clean and cute but it was not functional enough for me: There was no place inside the room to place things on. I had to open up my suitcase on either the bed or the floor. No desk or table to write on. The shower had no water pressure, and the drainage leaked out onto the floor. The wifi in my room did not work. The fridge was cluttered with junk that I did not want.

Pros: I was at Manicham Guesthouse four years ago and loved this place. Andy and Vênus were so lovely and friendly with me and My friends. Four years later I returned to Luang Prabang and I was sure where is the best place to stay. And again we had a lovely and Nice time at Manicham. Andy and Vênus are amazing and helped us with everything we need (Tours, tickets, information) The rooms are very confortable and clean, the location is perfect, the breakfast is very good (amazing coffee).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location, nice staff, room is clean ,highly recommonded
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast made a very good start to the morning: fresh croissants, baguette & sliced bread, homemade jams; A choice of eggs or pancakes for hot breakfast, homemade yogurt, freshly sliced fruit and staff to keep you company if you are alone at the table. Very cozy little place. Quaint. Homey :) Thank you Andy, Ta & Mr Wong and the rest of the Crew for looking after us. <3
Cons: Our stay ended :(
Good 7.5
Pros: Great atmosphere, very friendly owner and staff.
Cons: Shared bathroom in main house bit messy, lacked basics provided in en suite bathrooms.
Good 7.5
Pros: Loved it, nice clean place
Cons: Don’t book your bus tickets here, to expensive
Excellent 10.0
Pros: In this price range certainly one of the best option in Luan Pragan. Guesthouse is totally glean, even in lowseason they are gleaning garden and table areas all the time. Garden area is big enough and green, nice place to sit and meet others. Location can not be better. Andy and Venus take very good care residents, they are always ready to help and counsel. Breakfast even in lowseason is verygood. Rooms are average size but really clean and no problems with hotwater. Second time in this place, we can be happy to recommend this place to all kind of traveller.
Cons: Too short time
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast, coffee, staff, and location are excellent for enjoying Luang Prabang. What makes Manichan amazing is the family environment, inclusion, and welcoming nature of Andy and Venus, which translates to the same type of interactions among the guests. They will eagerly help you set up any excursions nearby or help with recommendations in and around town, and their efforts to involve me and others in some of their own plans made this a truly special stay. Highly recommended!
Good 7.5
Pros: Free breakfast - 1. scrambled eggs/noodle soup/fried eggs, 2. bread, toast & 3. coffee/tea with 4. some fruits. Suggest that breakfast time be extended to 7am-10am instead of 7.30am-9.30am. Andy and Venus were attentive to our needs.
Cons: In the room it's stated that air conditioner should not be adjusted to below 23°C or water would start leaking, the weather was rather hot and in order to comply with the rules, I had to follow through and endure the heat on the day. Hope that there would be a new air conditioner that allows one to adjust below 20°C on a hot day.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Room was bright, clean and close to the terrace. Stuff is very friendly. Breakfast was delicious.
Cons: No soap in the bathroom (not a huge problem)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Rooms are in an old Colonial style house, Everything was very clean. Breakfast with fruits was very delicious. Relaxed and easy going Atmosphaere. Guesthouse is centrally located near the morning Market, night Market and its only 100 m to the promenade of the river Mekong. But overall, despite the central location its very quiet at night. Next time I come to Luang Prabang, I would stay again.
Cons: Andy the owner was very polite to offer welcoming tea and gave valuable hints for interesting excursions to be done.

Pros: Staff , Ambiance, Rooms , Assistance, willingness to help
Cons: I didn’t get to stay longer - not properties fault - thank you everyone
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Loved the beautiful gardens. We were there a few weeks to early as the resort is being renovated. It will be amazing by mid September when it is all finished. The staff were so attentive, Mr.Sai was always there for us.
Cons: We booked it as we thought it had an adult only pool, which it will have in just a few weeks time. I also thought it had a day spa...again it will have very soon. This place will be amazing soon.
Good 7.1
Pros: very nice stuff, they provide a shuttle bus to and from the old town, that's convenient.
Cons: currently, the hotel is under construction, therefore a little bit noisy and dusty, the food from the hotel restaurant is not very tasty, we ordered a dish with pork, the meat tasted a bit stinky.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: We really enjoyed our private garden bungalow, it was very cute and very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating! I love the location as it is out of town but not to far that you can rent a scooter for few days, so fun!!
Cons: Apart from the works that were being done on the property, having another pool when the second is completed will make it way less crowded! The bathroom doors are the only issue that bothered us, they were very hard to close for privacy!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The hotel is set on the other side of the river from the main area. It is a very doable wander into town over the old motorcycle bridge. The hotel also offers free shuttles. All staff were friendly, obliging and smiling. We stayed in the family bungalow which sat down in the gardens and was lovely and peaceful. The perfect space for us. There are two pools, though we only used one and it provided a refreshing dip after a day exploring. Breakfast was ample and tasty. Renovation works were going on and they did not impact on our stay, and you can see they will only improve dining facilities. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Cons: Wifi dropped in and out a bit. They were trying to rectify the situation and were very apologetic. Truthfully it was good to have to get off the I devices for a change.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The pool and the bedroom
Excellent 9.6
Pros: My dream resort exceeded our expectations. The place is beautifully decorated and the environment is just special. The staff went out of their way for my family of 4. They made sure my boys aged 9 and 7 were always having a good time.Everything was easy. We organised all our day tours from the hotel with ease and all well priced. We had the pool villa which was perfect for a small family and having a private pool was a great relief from the heat. It is a little out of the main part of town but we hired bikes to get around and it was easy. And the place offers a free shuttle into town which is great at night. Special thanks to Whan who was always looking out for us. We will be back!
Cons: It was in renovation but it didn't really matter. After the renovation is finished it will be even better.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: breakfast good, bed little hard but good, transport from and to airport - nice service - Thank you
Cons: unfortunately there was a noise from construction of kitchen, but i understand it must be done menu not welcoming for vegetarians, not all staff speaking english :-)
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The staff were super friendly and the family room in the garden was wonderfully quiet with a lovely balcony
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely rooms with great view of the garden. We had a brilliant time. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. We spent 5 days here and had a great time!
Cons: Nothing.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: 5-star service
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: All meals at the hotel were excellent and served by friendly staff. Room was very spacious and had all the requisite technologies and features. Would stay there again.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 9.7
Pros: This was our third stay and it was every bit as good if not better than the first two. We had a large room with big bed covered with mosquito netting. The bathroom was modern but the hotel was wooden and felt like something from the early 20th century. The staff kept it clean. We had a terrace overlooking the garden. The breakfasts were excellent both western and Laotian.
Cons: Not much. Staff smoothed over any wrinkles.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I likes the service from all staff there. They take care all of our requests. The breakfast is cool and good quality. The hotel location is excellent, close to great restaurant and cafe. There are also Tuktuk park in front the hotel with fair price.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Very nice staff, great location and good breakfast
Cons: The wind from air-condition did not reach to bed, I was feeling hot when sleep in bed.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic stay in this beautiful hotel, perfectly situated within walking distances of loads of beautiful temples, both the Mekong and the Nam khan rivers and the National museum/royal palace. Staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful Room was spotless and bed was really comfortable Breakfast was delicious
Excellent 9.6
Pros: breakfast was excellent
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff were fantastic. Nor and Bird especially.
Excellent 9.4
Pros: This was our fourth trip and every bit as good as the other times we had hoped and requested rooms we'd had before but the staff worked to find us one as good. The staff bends over to make the stay momorable and succeeded. Recommended highly.
Cons: Not much. Food was better than last time. The hotel used to have a small shop but that's gone. I had bought great gifts in the past.
Good 7.1
Pros: Location and staff. But there is plenty more hotels in this area with the same and more. Cheaper.
Cons: Just not up to scratch.
Okay 5.0
Pros: The General Manager who is in charge of the Sofitel and this property was charming.
Cons: There were discrepancies or should I say a large differential in prices the hotel quoted and what was available. For example transfer to/from the hotel was @ USD 22 whereas available rate was @ USD 8/10 one way and similarly for the excursions / tours. I can understand such differences in other developed countries but not Laos. Food / cuisine also quite expensive.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wonderful hotel, beautiful decor, very good food and service, wonderful location!

Pros: Great pool area, though it must be said that the water was rather cool when we were there. Nice and spacious rooms with al necessities provided. They begin tot show their age, but everything is clean and full of charm. Set menu for breakfast with a limited number of choices. (Those staying under a week won't find any problems though) Everything prepared on the spot and especially the homemade jams are a treat! Staff is great and always willing to help. As our flight only left at around 7PM we were granted a late check-out and had the room available until we left for the airport.
Cons: No real issues @ the con side! Although I can imagine that the boat transfer across the river to the center might prove to be a hassle for some. For us it was charming! Just be aware of it.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: staff and food and room
Good 7.9
Pros: Travelled in April (New year Lao). Water level was low, so the boat couldn't cross, but the hotel paid for taxi to and from the town. Although the town was noisy during these days, the hotel was very quiet. The manager was extremely kind and helpful. Quality breakfast Nice room size.
Cons: Room equipment should be improved (sockets-adaptors, iron, toiletries, plumbing). In general overpriced for what it offers, but still a good hotel.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: A lovely little hideout across the river - made very special by the fact that you has to take a small boat across to town. As it is located on a residential street- you feel that you are in a neighbourhood. The staff were most helpful and charming.
Cons: It would not be do suitable for people with trouble climbing stairs - necessary for getting on and off the boat.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Great place, quiet, well equipped rooms with very comfortable beds. Beautiful balcony with garden and rivier view.
Cons: Nothing, we had a great stay
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This was the most pleasant and welcoming hotel we've been to during our 3 weeks in Indochina. Han went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and easy such as keeping the kitchen open late I the evening due to our late arrival, helping us organise the tours...
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Staff were super friendly and helpful. Went above and beyond to make my stay there amazing. Big rooms, comfortable bed.
Cons: I didn't realize it was on the other side of town.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A lovely little hotel that faces it’s big brother across the river. But the ARD has a pool and a small boutique feel. Especially good was the manager and his attentive staff. Large and comfy rooms and a huge balcony in our room (6). An easy and readily available boat takes you to the old town. Strongly recommend this one in Luang Prabang.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Extremely friendly and professional staff
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay here- from the large room sizes and beautiful furnishings/balcony views, to the great tea/coffee/minibar selections and breakfasts in a stunning tropical setting. The pool was lovely as was the convenience of the boat to cross the river into old town. The manager was fabulous at making sure our stay was comfortable and meeting our needs in a non-intrusive way. We couldn’t fault the hotel & it has spoilt us for every other hotel stay in future- we can’t wait to be back.

Excellent 9.6
Pros: The hotel is aesthetically very beautiful. The staff will do everything they can to make your stay special with lots of thoughtful little details provided in the room. Staff are courteous and efficient and you will fell well looked after. The movie screening every night is a pleasant touch. The location is great with view over the Mekong river and lots of cafes and restaurants nearby.
Cons: There is no pool or gym. The spa is also very expensive, especially when you can walk 2 minutes down the road and have a range of options at a fraction of the price.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Good food, good location with a very good staff.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: 1. The hotel itself is exquisite, simply beautiful! We love our room so much (spacious, with private jacuzzi, beautiful interior) that we would like to come here again! 2. The price is very reasonable for what it is! 3. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. 4. The breakfast is WONDERFUL. 5. The location is also quite strategic - the monks walk in front of the hotel in the morning for alms giving ceremony, the hotel is also walking distance to nice cafes and restaurants around the town.
Cons: 1. One thing that was quite disappointing is - we wished the staff would have been more proactive by informing us that we needed to inform them 3 hours in advance if we would like to use the warm water. We did not know of that until the very last day. Maybe the hotel can put up a sign in the room. However, me and my partner still had an amazing stay here and we would like to stay here again!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It's a place to be.
Cons: nothing at all.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Services & hospitality of staffs
Cons: Wifi was too slow
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Great Staff. Lovely room. Many nice touches. Thoughtful people. Very accommodating.
Cons: The bed was a little hard for me.
Good 7.9
Pros: very good location, just beside my favorite temple in Luang Prabang, the Wat Xieng Thong, and the hotel restaurant just in front of the Mekong river, very nice view. Victoria Xiengthong Palace used to be a personal residence of the king of Laos, therefore here is a historical place.
Cons: the reception services are great, and also the restaurant services are all very nice, but the spa is not very good, the masseuse who massaged me seems was not well trained, most of the time she was just pressing my body with both hands, for a while she probably thought I was falling asleep, so she just held my leg still, I am very disappointed with this massage, it's totally not worth the 80$USD (90 mins), even with the 1 for 1 promotion , still not worth the money, outside the hotel, the normal price average is 8$USD per hour.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beds very good, staff perfect, good food
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Whats to say.....this is by far one of the best properties I have stayed at in Asia. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the GM Mr Tuan and his fantastic French Chef JB. Its location is close to a number of very special and beautiful Pagoda Buddist Temples and local small business and coffee shops ect. The Hotel is actually the last Royal residence of the last King who abdicated in the seventies.
Cons: Well , there is no pool, this due to the property being a Unesco site and a heratige site so not allowed .apart from that nothing else really...
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Located toward the tip of the peninsula, I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. I stayed there during off-season, with no crowds or traffic anywhere, so it may be different at other times, but the booking.com price was about 1/3 the lowest price for a room as stated in Lonely Planet (2017). On top of that, with few guests, the hotel upgraded my room to one with two stories and a private jacuzzi on the first floor! There was complimentary pick-up at the airport, but I was charged for the return trip. But here is the best part: each day two cans of Beerlao appeared in the fridge at no additional charge.
Cons: Every night at 7 pm, the hotel shows the 1927 quasi-documentary film "Chang" in one room of the restaurant (or, I understand, outside when it is not the rainy season). I commend the hotel for showing this important film. It is well worth seeing, but it highlights the slaughter of now-endangered species by local people. Moreover, the praises to Buddha in the silent film's dialog text are inappropriate. The film shows no evidence of Buddhist practice among these local people; being rural people from Laos, they would have most likely been animist.

Pros: Just amazing! From the garden and the pool with the bar area to the room itself. Super clean and comfortable. The staff Speaks very good English and is really helpful for any request. Just wish i stayed more!
Cons: The breakfast is very good, homemade cakes and a choice between eggs that the prepare at the moment upon request. It just needs a little bit more variety to keep up with the hotel level. But the food is really good anyway!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Our room (Deluxe traditon) was wonderful, clean and beautiful. Wooden floors were amazingly beautiful. In the pool area there was really heretage feeling when the old music was playing. Atmosphere in the pool bar was very warm and nice. Hotel is nere the nigth market and Mount Phusi, you can easily walk there (about 10-15min). Hotel arranged us trip to Khonsi warterfalls and the trip went very well.
Cons: Paths made of big stones was very slippery if you use sandals, but those paths were beautiful.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The peaceful tranquil vibe of the villas and the gardens made Villa Maydou a perfect place to relax in the middle of our s-e Asia trip
Cons: The music - we were looking for music that reflected the Lao culture and couldn’t bear the Anglo European piano pieces or popular songs played round the pool and in the restaurant- great thing was staff changed the music when we raised the point with them
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Good location, lovely atmosphere in old style houses. Nice bar next to the little pool. Good breakfast.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Wonderfully idyllic spot, away from the main part of Luang Prabang, but within easy walking distance. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we loved the private little balcony to sit out on. The swimming pool was lovely for afternoon escape from the heat. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We also liked having a choice of either a fan or air-conditioning in the room and the breakfast was plentiful with good choices.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Hi recomended. Quiet place not far from the night market.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Really lovely breakfast, beautiful garden and helpful staff
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Such a beautiful hotel in one of my favourite cities in the world. Perhaps a touch overpriced for the area, but it was such a pleasure to arrive here after two flights to reach Laos. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The free bikes were a little rusty but did the job.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Natural paradise away from the centre hustle. Liked new front office manager Gail. There is a wat/temple just in front.
Cons: All ok
Good 7.5
Pros: The staffs were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was the best! The restaurant was the best as well. I love the cozy feeling inside the property. Very greeny. They let me change to another room for free! Really appreciate that.
Cons: According to our new room that they changed for us, I saw the toilet bowl had not flushed. It was some misunderstanding as well but the staff sorted out.
