We visited The Tongsai Bay as part of our honeymoon for four nights and loved it. From the moment we arrived we felt looked after. They gave us a free upgrade (thank you very much!) and we arrived to a bottle of sparkling wine on ice as a ‘congratulations’ from the management team. There were petals all over the bed and the place looked wonderful. There are a lot of good things to say about this resort: - The staff can’t do enough for you. They all seem to buy in to the ethos of the resort. They seem to enjoy their work and many seem genuinely interested in the guests. - The breakfasts are amazing at Chef Chom’s. Whether you’re looking for continental, Asian or something else - you’re guaranteed to find something you like. They even have a smoothie bar. - They were fantastic at catering from my (new) wife who is a celiac. We had a Thai gluten free card (see here: http://www.celiactravel.com/cards/thai/) which we took everywhere with us but they often remembered and at Breakfast they had prepared separate gluten-free pancakes for her one day so she was over the moon. The curry tasting evening was also great - the chef even showed my wife which dishes she could have and which she couldn’t which meant there was no worrying about cross-contamination. - The pool is beautiful and there’s table tennis and non-motorised water activities (paddle boarding, kayaking and catamarans) to use £FOC which prevented me from getting bored of my own company. - Trips organised by the hotel were pricey but the one we went on to Angthong National Park was well worth the cost as it was amazing. Definitely go for the boat where there’s a max of 14 people (and go for the speed boat option!) There wasn’t much that could have been improved. The prices - especially for drinks (and in particularly wine) - were a little steep but mildly to be expected at 5 star hotel.
There wasn’t much that could have been improved. The prices - especially for drinks (and in particularly wine) - were a little steep but mildly to be expected at 5 star hotel. They could also advertise happy hour a little more (6-7 and 10-11 I think) at the beach bar - everything is half price - as it might encourage guests to come down before/after dinner.
Privileged location for someone looking for privacy albeit at a cost of being isolated from the “reality” i.e. the rest of the island :) Very helpful staff and we liked the fact that the use of beach equipment was complementary.
The resort is a bit tired and below a typical 5 star standard. Our villa smelled like an old boat when we entered and food at the restaurants was missing a spark. Insofar this is not a particularly attractive value for money proposition.
Hospitality was great and the dinner buffet @ £50 per head was of very good quality but clearly not cheap given no alcohol included in the price.
- Breakfast was very repetitive and significantly lacked halal choices for non-pork travellers. Staying here for more than a week means you will be tempted to skip breakfast! - The hotel needs renovating (or at-least room 207) - blocked shower, A/C leak water, water pressure in the bathroom was very low and the bathroom was dated with wear & tear. - No one to take care of your bags on arrival - really? Overall, I would give 4 stars instead of 5!
I loved the location. Beautiful pools and private beach. Very close to the airport too.
Fantastic staff. Great breakfast and facilities. Pleasant atmosphere and decent clientele.
Not crazy about the little stony beach and rather murky water. Found the restaurants rather pricey. The in-house excursions also pricey and had some issues with hotel’s contractor.
