I checked out 20 mins ago and am really annoyed at the treatment I got from the guy at reception. He basically said when I was checking out, 'I have to check the room' he then came back and said I was talking to a guest at 4am and I annoyed them so much that they slept outside of the room. That never happened and I was shocked. I just thought it was a ploy at first to keep the €10 deposit key. I got the key deposit back and protested my innocence. And told him, I talked to no one. He eventually said it's ok. It's my second and the last time I will be staying at Paddy's palace.
The location was fair for a small town like Killarney. The shower was great, it was very convenient to have an en-suite bathroom.
We were aware that the reception wasn’t 24 hours but we arrived at 8:30am hoping to drop off our bags as we had booked a tour for the day. This went well except for the fact that the front door bell did not seem to work and when we called the reception they said that we should ring the bell. Basically we didn’t feel very welcome standing out in the rain waiting for someone to open the front door. Comfortable: The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the sound proofing of the room was terrible. You could hear everything from the road outside to what was happening inside the hostel and the shower of the rooms around us. We were on the 3rd floor just as a point of reference. Cleanliness: The bathroom looked a bit moldy on the roof. The fitted sheet on the bed looked stained. The pillow cases also looked stained. We were unsure if the bedding had actually been cleaned. The bedroom in all felt a bit gross. Value for money: I wouldn’t stay here again to be honest. If my stay was more than one night I would’ve checked out and changed accommodation. I cannot speak for the dorm rooms, but the private room was not worth staying in. Recommendations: The reception should be by the front door of the hostel and not in the kitchen. This will allow guests to come in and not stand in the cold. The check in time is strange being, 4-8pm. This can be seen as inconvenient.
It was excellent value for money, great location and had everything we needed
Nothing I didn’t like per se, very basic but it’s a hostel so you get what you pay for!
Warm welcome. People and staff are too cool! We spent great moments!
The staff were very helpful! The location is also perfect.
