Pros: Breakfast was well served, the braai (barbecue) served for dinner is amazing (a must have), rooms were clean and had comfortable beds. The lodge’s host, Sander, was one of the best hosts we’ve seen in our trips. He helped us a lot with tour tips/guidance, arrangements for game drives, and when we had to leave early for a self drive tour at the Kruger, he prepared us a nice breakfast to take away (with sandwiches/fruits and hot coffee/tea).
Cons: Nothing. We only stayed there for three nights, and we needed more.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is a small bed and breakfast type experience with 4 very nicely appointed private rooms with baths. The owners cook you an excellent breakfast and gladly take you to dinner in the town and share their experiences living in South Africa for the last 20 years. The owners are a couple originally from Holland...very nice people! The lodge is immaculate and very well appointed with a great outside space for eating, pool for swimming, fire pit for evening drinks, etc. The lodge is in a wildlife estate...it is a "neighborhood" with large lots and paved roads then has dirt, bush roads you can explore in your car to see all the wildlife that does not just stroll by the pool. :) There zebra, giraffe, warthogs, all types of antelope, porcupine, etc....and a leapard on site. We were there just after the mating season so there were little ones running around everywhere....including lots of birds...kingfishers, rollers, hornbills, ibis, etc. The location is great because even though you are among the wildlife, the roads are all paved and you are literally 5 minutes from town (fuel, restaurants, shopping, and the airport. You are also very close to the Kruger gate.
Cons: The place was excellent, but this is not "in the bush, roughing it, safari" type experience. So if you are looking for that, go into the park or sabi sands (where we stayed for a couple of days at Umkumbe lodge. Loved both experiences!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I'm mentioned what is coming up to my mind, but is more than what I'm about to write! - Sander, the owner, does barbecue with exquisite meat every night. The barbecue is served in an open area nearby an open fireplace, soft music, candle lights and a buffet of salad and sides which are delicious. Plus, wine + homemade ice cream + coffee. What else do we need? - I was trabelling alone with a 6 months old baby. I had a nany arranged by the wife's owner and supervised by her everytime I needed. So nice! - all the tours and game drives I wanted to do they arranged for me with high quality partners, took me anywhere I wanted to and for a fair price - great location - very charming place - staff (EVERYONE) was really nice and not "too much". - facilities + internet worked perfectly - great breakfast - good energy - just 3 minutes walking from a reserve full of girafes, zebras and other great animals. DEFINATELY, you should get it!
Cons: Nothing to declare. Everything was much more than expected.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Host was excellent. Food was great. Comfortable accommodation. Friendly
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Firstly, Sander is an excellent host. He goes out of his way to make your stay the best. The facilities and accommodation are truly fantastic. There is a heated pool that we used even in winter. The surrounds are beautiful and scenic. The room is large enough and is very comfortable, it is full of character and exudes a great ambience. The dinner was excellent and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Sander organised 2 safari drives and a boat ride through the Blyde Canyon, all 3 were excellent and again reasonably priced. The only sad thing is we could only stay the 1 night, this place deserves at least 3 nights. There are mountain bikes that you can use to explore the surrounding area which we didn't have time to use. Even relaxing for 1 day here doing nothing but soaking up the atmosphere would be worth it. The attention to detail here is great.
Cons: Nothing, it was all fabulous.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room is beautiful, and the service is top quality. This is the best place I have stayed in South Africa, and one of the best anywhere in Africa.
Cons: Everything was excellent
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We enjoyed the Logde and the hospitality of Sander and Juliette very much. Lodge is conveniently located between the Panorama route and Kruger Park, within a small private reserve with animals. It has all the comfort of European facilities (even a little extra attention, like a citronel cream from moscitoes)and a unique style of Africa done with a lot of taste. We took advantage of the road bikes kindly proposed by Sander, also the barbecue nights with great food and wine. We have also enjoyed the Blyde canyon hike that Sander advised, it is one of the true highlights of the trip. Thanks a lot again, Sander and Juliette, for your hospitality
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The standard of accomodation The quality of the food The attentive service throughout The relaxing ambience created The flexibility it offered us The hospitable nature of the owners
Cons: Not Applicable
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The owner, Sander, was very informative about things we should do at the Blyde River Canyon and what to be mindful of.
Cons: That we didn’t book more than the one night!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very relaxing place, great management and delicious food.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Sander & Julia embraces the African Rock Lodge much more than a business itself, but also with their sympathy and kindness. I have never been hosted with such dedication and willingness to make the guest comfortable and enjoy the Safari adventure. I'd certainly recommend the lodge to my family and friends.
Cons: Nothing.

Excellent 9.5
Pros: Everything!
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The staff were absolutely amazing. The food was excellent. The views, the garden and the property lovley. We will go back there for sure.
Cons: Maybe they should have block out curtains in the bedrooms the light outside shines through the curtains so it makes the room very light.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Impressive was all female staff welcome you warmly upon arrival and insisted in taking the luggage to the room. Appointments such as spa treatments and game drives were made at short notice by the manager and Khaya Ndlovu team. The personal touch and attention to detail was omnipresent. The service rendered by support staff is indicative of excellent training is in turn reflective of brand Khaya Ndlovu. We highly recommend both the evening and morning game drives which were conducted by knowledgeable game rangers, Darren and Robert augmented by the expert tracking skills of Sam. The massage overlooking the expanse of bush in fresh air was invigorating. The view from the Deck is imprinted on my memory forever.
Cons: I loved EVERYTHING and will certainly go back!

Excellent 9.5
Pros: Setting and view.
Cons: would have liked a bath tub
Good 7.0
Pros: Main house is beautiful and view from the pool magnificent.
Cons: Dinner - although the fish was lovely in main course, would of liked a choice between 2 options - one fish or red meat? The facilities of the garden suite - ie kitchen cupboards, utensils are outdated and kitchen dustbin lid broken. During our game drive of 3 hours we did not stop for our mid-drive drinks, which we were looking forward to.

Pros: Everything! A very professionally run Game Lodge with excellent staff, superb facilities and fantastic catering.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The facilities, room, staff, food and game drives were all extraordinary. It was very good value.
Cons: I personally found the bed somewhat uncomfortable, however my family did not have any issue. Bring a good rain pancho, because theirs are nylon and not completely effective if it rains during a game drive.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Very nice staff, superb game drives, good food!
Excellent 9.5
Pros: We had the best time during our stay, everything is taken care off. Great location, conveniently located in the game reserve, safaris were amazing. The food, especially dinner, was delicious and very cosy in the boma.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.3
Pros: It was dry season when we where there and the Lodge provided a lovely oasis of greenery to sit and relax in the garden watching the odd buffalo or warthog test out the fencing! The sleeping accommodation was large and comfortable and the outside shower was, well... a little different. The evening meal taken with the other guests was an enjoyable affair and breakfast was a thorough mix with the usual offerings. They're got the game drives off to a tee. We liked the fact we kept the same ranger/driver for all the drives so we didn't go down the same routes again and again - and the ranger sought out species we'd not yet seen. I felt they try to group guests with the same arrival dates as well for the same reasons. A nice touch. So was it worth it? Well, leaving aside the comfort factor - we got to see 4 of the 'big 5' - close up. By that I mean within a few feet - a male lion was more or less by the wheels chewing his way through an Impala snack. No Elephants on our drives - but we did miss the last one (airport beckoned). We had a Ford Ecosport and I wouldn't have liked to have driven the 7km track to the lodge in anything less robust. Not a problem - just something to be aware of.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Our stay was perfect. Special thanks to our great guides Sam and Richard who did everything to give us the ultimate Safari experience including the big 5!
Cons: Nothing - everything was great
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The food has a strangely familiar 80s dinner party vibe that I love and is cooked really really well. The drives were great and we saw so much. If you have a few days for a safari then I can't say strongly enough that Mohlabetsi and the Balule are a great choice.
Cons: It doesn't feel as bush as some but this was my second visit in 4 months so not much I don't like.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Every meal was lovely. We ate out, looking over the reserve, under the stars, accompanied by the Rangers who shared great stories with us all. The staff were extremely helpful and looked after us really well. Rooms were plenty big enough and had all you needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. Our room had views out over the reserve. The afternoon dip in the pool was an added bonus, but all in all, a great place to spend a few days if you get a chance. Oh, and by the way, the game drives, Rangers and Trackers were awesome. Top marks all round for a fantastic lodge. I can see why a number of guests we met return again and again.

Pros: The staff are amazing and our experience was absolutely perfect. Can’t be a better place in the world than this. 10/10. Rooms, food, game drive, staff, spa, pool are faultless.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: The employees are the best! Very happy and glad to help! The safari is beautiful and the room, one of the best I ever been! Amazing experience! Of course a must to go
Cons: There is no variety of food! As this is an all inclusive hotel, should have more options of food and more food available in the afternoon. It would be great if the hotel invest in the gym.

Pros: Loved all their staff
Cons: I don't see room for improvement all at its best

Pros: Great hospitality!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The service was excellent and the hotel it-self was much better in the reality than on the pictures. Very calm, modern and fresh design and the food worth a Michelin star. The Safari experience with amazing Rangers who explains every single detail about the animals and how they track them, just don't hesitate to ask questions, they are more than happy to answer to you. As well go feed the elephants, it is an overwhelming feeling.
Cons: Only one little detail. When you arrive at the airport at the hottest hour and the hotel sends an open car to pick you up. 30 min under the strongest sun weren't that pleasant. So be ready and get a hat out of your suitcase in advance.

Pros: The bartender was very nice and friendly. The pizza was actually very tasty. The room and mattress, comfortable. The room clean (accept the carpet).
Cons: It's far off, unless you have business at Timbavati or The Klaserie (and permits). The bar/restaurant (plastic chairs, many TV screens and popular music), will make you forget you're in the bush (great for city slickers). The bar food menu fits with the rest. It's NOT a place from which to visit Kruger.
Good 7.5
Pros: Larry Amos was there and my husband played music with him. Had a nice stay there. Will go back
Cons: Meals took long after the order was put in.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff, super cool hotel. Cute authentic rooms, good food at the pub and to top it off, you're surrounded by wildlife!
Cons: Would have been cool if you could hire a car or book excursions through the hotel. Other than that, everything was great!

Pros: We are a family of four adults .We loved and enjoyed everything about our stay at Elandela! Thembie was the most wonderful hostess.. looking after all our requests and needs. Our room was spotless with a very high level of cleanliness through the whole property. Our rangers John and Taleen were so knowledgeable and made our drives really interesting and fun ! The food was so delicious and tasty .. we were not expecting that in the middle of the bush! We thoroughly enjoyed the bbq and boma evening with the singers and dancers ! Great fun ! Our drive thru Kruger was amazing .. especially seeing the cheetahs and the elephants .. sadly no lions or buffalo that day ! We appreciated John’s cooked breakfast in Kruger ... yum !! The white lions on the Elandela reserve were very special and we thoroughly enjoyed our drives there . It was our first safari and we couldn’t recommend Elandela highly enough !

Pros: Everything was perfectly. Mamma is the best. And everybody takes care of us. Amazing. A dream !!!!!!
Cons: Nothing. Is perfect.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Incredible private game reserve. The best team of rangers you could ask for, Taleen, John and Morney definitely know their stuff and had fun while giving us an extrmemebly knowledgable game drive! Mama Thembie was also a star, and really helped when my mums luggage didn’t arrive in joburg, ensuring it got to the lodge within 24 hours. 100% would come again
Cons: NA
Excellent 8.5
Pros: The room was very comfortable (we were upgraded to a Lake View ), very spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff were excellent and made a real effort .
Cons: I received the same meal (I do not eat pork or beef) for 3 nights in succession. Besides the zebras, impalas and giraffe there was not a lot of the big 5 . We had to go to the Kruger Park to see the elephants. Also the lions were in fenced area so it was more like a zoo than a game reserve. Dinner was served directly after the game drive. Not enough time to enjoy pre dinner drinks.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The lodge is very clean and comfortable. You can see the staff work very hard to maintain the property and grounds. View of the Rhinos in the lake superb! The guides on the safari tours are very informative, we had John and Lymon, both excellent. We were fortunate to see the big 5 on our trip, all of them during our stay in Elandela. The white lions are stunning, I have never seen anything so beautiful. The trip to Kruger national park is a must. I loved the décor in the bar an restaurant very African and rustic. Service from all staff in the lodge was excellent! The boma evening was fab, dancing and singing by members of the lodge team and we got to join in! Relaxing by the pool between safaris is needed!
Cons: It would have been nice to have some African dishes to try.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The food is to die for, the honeymoon suite is wonderful, the white lions cub are just too much. Everything was literally perfect.

Pros: The game drives with the rangers were excellent and we could see incredibly variety of animals. The trip to the Kruger was worth it. Rooms very clean and comunicating door was nice to have the kids close by. Wifi connection worked fine.
Cons: Variety and quantity of the food was average A cofee before the morning game drive would make it nicer to be awake. Service at dinner professional but too fast
Okay 5.8
Pros: Very kind staff at restaurant
Cons: Very poor safari e permien e, very low quality of guide

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The entire experience from beginning to end far exceeded all our expectations. The lodge has an authentic and intimate feel as it only caters for up to 4 rooms. Our guide, Rew, had incredibly impressive knowledge of all the animals and got us much closer than we could have ever imagined. Our tracker, Vousi, displayed great knowledge and also nerves of steel being sat on front of the car. Food and housekeeping was also fantastic - delicious variety of food.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The location of the Lodge was excellent. The ranger Gino was very enthusiastic about his work and did his best to show us as many animals as possible. He added great value to the experience. The food was nice and plentiful. Staff was pleasant and service the best. The dining environment was always charming. A special thanks for the wine and candles on our anniversary.
Cons: I wish we had gone out for the safari on our last morning. I got the impression the staff was not very willing.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Wonderful spot with room overlooking watering hole. Ranger and tracker excellent showing us lots of wildlife on game drive.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: The personal meal the staff set up on the verandah of our lodge for myself and my partner on New Years Eve with candles, a bottle of champagne, petals on the table and excellent service and hospitality.
Cons: The only thing I would recommend rather than didn't like is the three mornings I went out searching for animals was at 5.30am and I think each morning was quite quiet until at least 6.30am in terms of spotting animals so you could push the morning kick off until 6.30am instead of 5.30pm

Pros: The friendly staff, facility with the view of bush and wild animals and food arrangement with heart.
Cons: Nothing I didn’t like.
