Pros:It was a great location. The breakfast was delicious. The pool and sauna were nice. Enjoyed the balcony.
Cons:Very disappointed since it had good reviews. Our room had a strange smell. We didn't feel very welcome. Most of the attention was given to the guests from the Viper convention. We felt like we were wasting their time whenever we had questions or needed something. After we arrived, we tried to sit in the restaurant and were told that there wasn't room for us because of the group and when we asked if we could just have a beer and sit on the patio she said we would be waiting a long time till they served us. How long does it take to pour a beer? So we left and went into town. The next morning after breakfast we went to use the sauna but couldn't open the door and thought maybe there was a key so my husband asked. She curtly said the sauna is not open until the afternoon and then said not even 5 star hotels have their sauna open at this hour - which is not true. We've stayed at many places and the posted hours of operation include all the amenities. On our tour she told us she wouldn't charge us for using the sauna because of the visiting group. But why should we be flattered, arent we paying guests after all? Overall it was disappointing as we felt like we were second class guests.
Pros:Friendly, charming staff Adjoining sun porch (Wintergarten) with beautiful mountain views Great restaurant serving home-cooked meals -- superb breakfast Quiet location in Grainau -- a bit removed from the action in Garmisch, but great for views and access to the Zugspitze Very dog-friendly Spacious room with nice furniture and decor The small fridge was much appreciated
Cons:Bed wasn't the most comfortable.
