Staff was super friendly and helpful.
The location was good and convenient. The staff acknowledged that the place requires renovation. They were also nice enough to waive the cost of some of the meals due to the poor standard of the rooms. They also arranged to transfer one couple to Ella Jungle Resort which had a much better standard.
The hotel looks rundown. The rooms aren't clean and the footpath leading to the rooms require renovation. The entire place requires an uplift. They also need to hire more staff and train them to carry out their responsibilities. Very poor service.
There are two locations wich have to be distinguished: We stayed in Ella Jungle Inn, where the reception and restaurant is right next to the road, the single chalet’s are just a few steps into the jungle. We had a chalet with a nice size and an amazing view over the valley into the jungle. Then there is Ella Jungle Resort, which we visited for a day trip, and which is deep down the valley. In order to reach it you need to take the jeep taxi and after that a quite old cable car. The Jungle Resort is nice too, inserted in rice fields in the valley.
The level of maintenance and attention to details could be much higher. The area between the single chalets seems a bit run down. Breakfast was OK, but very simple. Our chalet had three ventilation holes with now grids or anything. Considering the amount of monkeys at the place I thought there could be a non wanted visitor in the room.
Location and the staff is friendly. Specially the worker named maduranga was good.
The rooms are too old and specially the bathroom. Definitely they should renovate the hotel. Food is not worth at all for the money and with regrets its fishy smell. Does not look at all as shown in the booking.com a
The bed was clean and comfortable and had a mosquito net. Breakfast is usually served from 7.30am but because we had an early train booked from Ella they agreed to provide it to us at 6.30am. There wasn’t much choice for me but they did prepare a lovely dhal and roti, which was delicious.
25 minutes drive from Ella town itself Limited choice for vegetarians / vegans on the dinner and breakfast menu. Food overpriced for the quality. No alcoholic drinks and no soft drinks (7Up / Sprite / Cola) available upon request. Chalets are "unfinished" with big gaps between walls and roof. Some windows are unglazed. Plastic sheeting covering bathroom meaning incredibly loud noise when it rains. Leeches and cockroaches in the bathroom. Ants everywhere.
When you stay at Ella Jungle Inn in Ella, you'll be in the mountains and 10 minutes by car from Ravana Falls. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Guests may use a train station pick-up service for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
