It’s a great location near the plaza de arms
Not much of a social vibe. Nobody sitting around talking.
Hands down the best bed I’ve slept in throughout central and South America.
We liked the location, it was familiar to us and enough out of the cities hustle but close to everything. It was near a young club scene but still quiet if you didn't want to partake. We found the staff very on top of cleanliness, bathrooms were very clean. The shower took a while to get hot but it did eventually.
Only downfall for me was the guy at the front desk. He said it would be 20 soles extra for an hour later checkout when we were almost the only people staying in the hostel at this point. I've never been told I would be charged extra to stay one hour longer. It would have been a nice gesture the hostel could offer, especially because they were renovating their front doors when we got there and the place smelled very strongly of paint fumes for the 2 days we stayed. There were no apologies for this. The morning before I left I asked if the front desk guy would call me a taxi to the airport and he told me it would be a 15 sole request fee. Also never had this happen. Extending some sort of genuine care for your clients that doesn't all revolve around a dollar bill goes a long way.
There is hot water all the time. Very close to Plaza De Armas - 1 minute walking.
There is a bad smell all over the place and in the room you can't breathe because of it. There is a lot of noise from the outside. Because they build it from wood, the people that was in the upper part, we could hear every move of them. You can cook only from 11:00 to 17:00. Because the street is close to Plaza De Armas, taxi can't go near the Hostal.
Beautiful little haven. We came here after wanting a double room after a while in hostels. Great, friendly staff who were a welcome break from the rudeness we had experienced in the local Kokopelli. Free tea and coffee round the clock. Breakfast made with love
Walls are thin and if you're on the street side, you will be kept awake at night by the nightclubs in the street
