Pros: This hotel is located right near the train station in Coimbra and has free parking. You pull up in front of the hotel and the staff valet parks your car for you. That worked out well for us. The staff was not overly-friendly at the front desk (although the night clerks were friendlier than the afternoon staff). We had upgraded our room so that we had one with a balcony which I would not recommend. The balcony was tiny and the view not that great. The cost didn't justify the upgrade. The rooftop bar was beautiful though and the bar service was prompt. The breakfast buffet was basic and did the job.

Rooms had very ugly. Carpet is ugly, dated and filthy. One has tô wheat sandals.
Dryer was bad. TV was really bad as far as image quality.
Beds and pillows were really bad. All furniture was of bad quality.
Internet was ridículos. Scratchy signal and when working (very seldon) was worse than the dial up of the old times. And staff had no idea or solution. Once they suggested me to walk around my room to improve the signal. I ha 2 iPads and 2 two iPhones and some times no one could get a signal.
the sad part is that this one is supposed to be the best hotel in Coimbra. I guess I will never visit coimbra again.

Cons: We booked two double rooms and got beds with exactly 130 cm widths for two persons. Be aware, that the hotel sells single rooms with single beds for double use. This is a hotel with uncomfortable and very shabby rooms and hallways. The dirt of the carpets and walls of the two rooms which we had, was disguisting, which exceeded our imagination. The quality and taste of breakfast was far below avarage. The 'coffee' was not prepeared from real coffee, it was not enjoyable. I was consantly waiting the minute when I could leave the hotel behind me.

Also, it might be because I am impatient but there was never enough coffee, bread, cheese, etc prepared for the breakfast due to high turnover from 8 to 9.30. Everyone was supernice but I dont need supernice in the morning - I just need my coffee. And wifi stopped working the second day.

Pros: The location is PERFECT for Coimbra: a very short walk from the Beautiful Heart of the City, my bed was perfect, across the street their is an indoor parking lot and a beautiful non-expensive quality supermarket, within a few steps you have all kinds of facilities and shops and restaurants and cafés, etc... Food is non-expensive and of good quality! All the main scenic sites are within a short walk. The staff is very kind to the point that if you stay for just even few days (hopefully I want to come back for some quality leisure time) it seems like a cozy quaint home.

Cons: The tv sets are a little bit vintage, but to be honest I wasn't there to glue myself to a tv set; and besides the programs were also in English.
