THE BREAKFAST was basic but ok....remember this is 3 star.
THE POOL was freezing and without a filter, so only god knows what was in the water.
Everything is wonderful but I’m a bit sad that I were there just 2 nights. Whatever, If I go to Chiang Mai next time This is the first place that I will choose to stay. And one more thing, I love the breakfast here very much.
We had a spacious room, large bed, quite comfy, a sofa, dressing area with wardrobe and very large fridge, shower room spacious balcony with towel rack, kettle with coffee etc sachets provided. Hair dryer. This was a suite. Located across from the swimming pool & reception......30 seconds walk. The swimming pool looks inviting and is quite big but very cold and tiling a bit sharp on edges, there is a sign saying beware tiles in the pool. Wooden seating around the pool & plants, looks pretty but not anywhere really to lay & relax. At 17:30 each day a taxi bus was provided to take guests to the markets, free. The hotel itself was great value for money.....but....
The distance from the old town, markets or anything to be seen was too far. When booking we knew it was on the outskirts but it didn’t appear to be THAT far out. Tuk tuks were quite expensive (comparatively of course) as they were not keen to travel the distance. Walking was not an option, very hot & boring walk along a busy road with shops mostly closed down just to reach the moat edge. Few taxi buses went along the main road, so trying to find that exact route was very hard. Overall the drivers didn’t seem interested when shown the address. Hence the free bus from the hotel each day because otherwise a taxi would have to have been phoned for.
The staff was great. Lovely breakfast. Beautiful sitting area. Except for a couple of glitches was awesome
Found bed bugs on the first night. One night came back and the room was not done. However they were prompt in addressing issues.
The staff at reception were so friendly and helpful. The general atmosphere of the place is great; tranquil and laid back, surrounding a lovely pool (which is pretty but chilly - great on hot days if you're not a wuss like me). The rooms have a lovely, slightly rustic/traditional style - not luxurious per sé, but charming and clean. The gym is functional but a little ramshackle. It's near an absolutely fantastic food market during the day, 7/11 and food stalls on the corner, and 20 minute walk to town centre.
The beds are fine by SE Asia standards - but you just have to remember that in Thailand they like their beds *hard*! The bedding is lovely though. The walls are very thin. I love the sound of Mynah birds in the morning, not everybody does. You can also hear the pool waterfall from quite early, and I think my neighbours really loved their room, because they exclaimed about it a lot every evening...
