Very clean. Receptionist very kind and friendly. Beautiful pool - but I doubt most residents are physically capable of getting in or out as 99% appeared to be over 80 years old. Breakfast was very entertaining with two waiters who seemed inadvertently to be copying Manuel from Faulty Towers. Lots of running to and fro, and shouting across the restaurant. The Cappuccino however was great.
Average age of guests was about 80. When I arrived I thought we were at the wrong place. It is not an exaggeration to say I thought I’d arrived at an old people’s home / retirement hotel. I just saw a lot of Zimmer frames.
Fabulous stay here
This hotel was wonderful. It was airy and bright and the staff (all of them) were wonderful. We would stay there again most definitely. We loved it.
The fridge was out of service, the swimming pool area was dirty and messy, beds hard and uncomfortable and towels were thinner than a sheet.
The German Shepherd guarding the entrance to the hotel... Quiet place. Really nice staff welcomed us and helped us with a luggage. :)
So...where to start... I just have to say that it´s a pitty that there are many hotels like this one in Chianciano- the big boom of their glory is already gone. In 90´s it could be a really top hotel with all the facilities you can imagine...But now? There is probably no house keeper or gardener who could take care of it all... You are entering the hotel on the old green carpets (like a grass..maybe 15years ago...) , passing the waste bins and warehouse of everything..., it doesn´t seem they even expect any guests coming this summer... No maintenance after the winter ( or after all the years...) Silly combinations of things insidem really messy and untidy reception... Poor breakfast (old bananas, disgusting coffee...) Now I understand the price (around 50eur a night per 2) and why we were in the whole hotel alone... This hotel really needs some investment.. Or a wrecking ball... :(
