Hotel Charlotte Cartagena

The location was good in easy walking distance to beaches and restaurants. A nice breakfast of fresh fruits and different hot food was provided each day. Having the pool area was really nice to escape the heat. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We were given a room directly facing on to the main road so it was very noisy. The aircon in the room could not be controlled - simply on or off which was not ideal. We had specifically requested a fridge for medication and when we arrived this was not working. Each day the cleaners took our towels and did not replace them so we had to ask (which was then done quickly).

They charged us too much for what we consumed from the mini bar. The hotel is 4 stars. It really should be a very low end 3 star hotel. Through booking we requested (and most probably paid for a large bed) however, the room only had a double bed, when we complained they told us (3 times) that they would look into it, which they never did! When we arrived we wished to shower. However, there were no towels in the bathroom. I had to ask 4 times before they put any!!! One whole day there was no hot water. The room constantly had the noise of many air conditioning units from just outside the window. The staff were very unhelpful, lazy, and in many cases surly! One day are valuables were in the safe, which stopped working. The member of staff I told about the problem said that a technician would come the following morning to fix it. Nothing had happened by the following lunchtime. I asked another member of staff, who simply opened the safe with a key!
