The location is great, it's closed to the downtown and the ciudad amurallada.
Everything was good.
We liked that the staff seemed super friendly and spoke a little bit of English.
Honestly everything. The photos on booking.com and room descriptions were completely false. We paid and booked a private room with ocean view , pool view and a private balcony. Instead we got a dingy room on ground level attached to the dorms with no balcony and a widow facing into pizza shop. There’s no such thing as a room with a balcony. Also breakfast was not included. Also the wifi never worked. The pool was not open and was a dirty green pond with a foot of disgusting water in it. Also we were asked to pay cash up front before seeing our room. Ana Miguel’s wife didn’t give us back our change when we paid either. It was only 5000 but still it’s the principal. The bathrooms don’t even have soap to wash your hands. And the showers are only cold with barely any water pressure. We told them we wanted to leave and wanted our money back , but they were so nice and acted like it was a mistake that there booking.com description was all wrong. We made a deal they would give us 16 free beers for the 2 of us / the 4 days we stayed . Instead they gave us 10 3 of which one of the staff Drank without asking. They also got us to book this amazing island tour 185000 , 8-8 am 2 meals included 4 islands etc . They said we didn’t need any other money unless we Wanted to snorkel or visit aquarium. Instead they lied said the road was closed so charged us again to take a boat to Playa Blanca where we were all STRANDED all day. We all ran out of food and water and money and were then told we had to stay in playablanca cuz there were no more boats or buses back. We were all LIVID! We went owner of hostel and voiced our frustrations . He promised at 9 am the ends morning he would go with us to the tour company to get our money back. They refused and finally after an hour of arguing we each received less then half of what we paid . VERY disappointed. We all got scammed in everyway and will never go back
The personal and the pizza restaurent in the hostels
The pool wasn’t working, no plug-in in the bedroom, no keys or digitize for the gate, we should call out load and hoping someone to hear you (perfect when you come back at night !) and most of the lights are not working ! Very disappointed when you see the potential of the place
Not one for doing bad reviews or reviews at all for that matter. But here we go... First the good bits... - The staff are nice and friendly, they speak English well. - The pizza is great and at a good price. - The price of accomodation is... Meh. Now the bad... - This feels very much like an ilagitemate business. Description is terribly misleading. Quote: "each room is fitted with balcony with sea views" it doesnt and "each room is equiped with a patio and pool view" which doesnt. - 18 beds crammed in a room, in which the staff actually slept in aswel. Air con was only used at there convenience. - Our beds had no electric sockets, there wasn't really anywhere safe to leave your device on charge. - Dormitory door does not close properly which should as it contains the property of the guests staying there, the street is very loud. Just plane the door slightly at the top, Lord knows you have enough dollar. - Light in bathrooms is sensor activated and turns off if your having a shower. I had to constantly open the door and wave at the sensor in the nude. Fun! - Guests and staff would stroll in at all hours with no regards to anyone trying to sleep. Chatting away like they were in a social area. (Maybe to be expected from guests but not staff) - Someone drank our unopened water from the fridge within 2 hours of being there. -There's more but prob just knit picking. -This review is just my honest opinion and feel if considered could greatly help the Hostels business and customers well being. This didn't spoil our time spent in Cartagena as it is a beautiful place within the walled city. Mic drop
