Basically it’s a hostel, but you can have private room with a bathroom. It’s quite comfortable, definitely good value for money. It was warm, quiet, clean. It’s close to city centre and restaurants street, there are shops, bakeries and groceries around. You can use the kitchen and fridge.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Very clean and quite place. Very close to the city center.
Quiet, good bathroom/shower facilities, very very clean.
Kitchen wasn’t super well stocked- no wine opener, no can opener. Front right burner on the stove didn’t work. Requested a room with a double bed and received a room with three single cots. WiFi is APPALLINGLY slow, and occasionally nonexistent.
The price and the location
Since the moment you’ll book it’s going to be very complicated, starting from filling the online form to having to pay a deposit. My biggest question was what is the deposit for if booking already has all of my details in case I damage something or I overstay. The deposit apparently needs to be in euros, of course you can’t pay by card and you really need to have that specific amount otherwise they won’t give change (not even in their currency). So, what happened was that we had completely forgotten about this deposit thing (our mistake) and when we got there we didn’t have euros, therefore the guy told us to go and find an atm (literally this was the only thing that was told to us). We went to an atm which was the one indicated by him and had a very very poor exchange rate (we lost more than 15€ in exchange rate and fees) and when we got there the guy said that he could just accept the 5,000 ft banknote and that the rule was the couldn’t give us any change. After insisting, he accepted to keep 10,000 (equivalent for 40€ for the both us) Overall if it wasn’t for this I would say the hostel is not bad, there are a few things that could be improved (more kitchen facilities as the only one existing is salt) and the heating system not being controlled in any room (basically they were deciding if it was cold enough to heat up your room). Especially being that whenever we washed our hair we couldn’t dry them because there isn’t any blow dryer and so you need to sit with your wet hair in a cold room. I wouldn’t necessarily say I wouldn’t go back, I would but I would go being prepared for all of this.
