Not enough toilets
The David and his son were very friendly and informative. The check-in and check-out was smooth. The place was clean. It took 15 mins walk to cbd which was convenient. We booked our ferry to Kangaroo Island through the hostel and got a good discount. We also got a cheap car rental from David which helped us to save a lot of money for the trip. The car was old but working well and save on fuel cost.
There were not enough toilets and showers for everyone. This could be improved. There was no window in the room but after staying for a couple of hours the central air circulation would work well.
Advertised parking (reservation required) called to reserve and was told I couldn’t as was not a secure carpark and anyone could park there. I don’t think you can advertise reservation car parking if that is the case. When we turn up the manager (after complaining constantly about his work and being short staffed) has 3 of his own, broken down, cars in all the spaces. Misleading advertising and just a ridiculous situation to turn up in when I couldn’t even ‘reserve’ the parking that I was advertised I could. Trying to squeeze my car into the space he was rude and derogatory. And after all that, the beds were not even made. Took card details without fully explaining what they were being taken for. Cash deposit that is not advertised, and after a number of phone calls was never told about. These things would not necessarily be a problem if it wasn’t for the ‘managers’ attitude and awful skills with communicating with people.
Nice hostel, modern with all of necessary (kitchen, hot and big shower, living room with tv, beautiful terrace, laundry). All clean, staff very available to help us. The position is good, far from supermarket and bus station 12 minutes walking. 5 minute the nearest stop to catch the bus to go to the beach (around 3 dollars, it's cheaper then tram, 5dollar).
Unfortunately the door system is very noisy. During the night if someone goes to the toilet the noise of the door is too high, you can wake up. I suggested to bring earplugs.
The host was very hospitable! He even took us to see the night view of Adelaide！
