The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and they made us feel pampered. Design of the room was exceptional. It was also very quiet and comfortable. Amenities were excellent. Convenient location, just far enough away from the busy road and nightlife.
The bed was really uncomfortable. The heater was also too powerful next to the bed, and we turned it off at night out of necessity. Neither of us had a good night's sleep while we were there.
Amazing
We were upgraded to a suite, free water, turndown service. They were amazing!! Free bottled water even when we left. Great food too. Our most favourite Accor experience
Slightly small window allow natural light but not an issue for us
Housekeeping was none responsive on numerous occasions.
Hotel very well located. Has been renovated with good taste. The food was excellent.
At check-in, we were told that the room we booked with Booking.com had no view... (Which we did not know..) So - fortunately - we were able to upgrade ourselves (and paid the difference) to a suite overlooking the lake. That made our stay agreable.
Breakfast was good although the pricing system is erratic - should be able to get a latte etc as standard instead of being required to pay extra for it.
Everything in the hotel was expensive - the internet, car parking and meals. Better value would have been to reduce the costs of everything to a sustainable level rather than pricing things high forcing people to eat/drink/park elsewhere.Would also have liked constant water in the shower and toilet but this couldn't be guaranteed despite it supposedly being fixed.
the service
My husband and I were looked after so well by all of the hotel staff. From the moment we arrived, Ben & Dana made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was a lovely size and beautifully furnished. The buffet breakfast was delicious, with views to match! A short stroll took us to Queenstown's main activity which was a bonus. I would highly recommend the St Moritz as a romantic escape or any other occassion for that matter. Keep up the good work guys!!
the food
The TV was on an unadjustable zoom which was annoying because clarity, tops of heads and some writing was lost. Sony is a great brand TV but the good TV image was lost. My husband felt some of the staff spoke far too fast - as an English speaker he could not understand two of the front desk staff, how the Japanese guests coped heavens knows!
Had exactly what we can expect for this kind of hotel
Overcost to park the car
We booked a room for three people and they gave us a room with just one bed, barely big enough for two people. They charged us for the third bed and it was worse than the ones from some of the backpackers we stayed on that holidays. It was the worse place we stayed in New Zealand, and we were in more than a dozen places, even worse that the DOC huts on the great walks, at least there we knew what we could expect.
The original room they gave us is near the front porch hence very noisy. After calling the reception 3 times to check, they agree to change to a quiet room with garden view.
There were no bathroom slipper provided. The floor was cold and hence I would expect a hotel like St Moritz's standard to at least provide such ammenities. Also there were a big group that came after us and the hotel does not have enough staff to handle such group and hence when I was checking for quieter room, I've to called reception 3 times to get a response.
My husband and I spent 2 nights at the hotel and we loved it. It was in a great location and the hotel and room was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
