Everything, magical location, beautiful building, simple airy rooms. Delicious food & drink. Best hotel we’ve ever stayed in.
Loved the location, the ambiance and the setting, the views from the veranda and the lovely outdoor dining area on the lake make this a very special place. The food at Dinner and Breakfast were great. The island had a great feel to it, with all the alleyways and the old church. One evening there was opera singing, brass band playing and a jazz quartet to give the island a a little bit of bustle.
Only minor items - would have liked a bath tub, our room, Rosa, was a bit basic - maybe some pictures on the walls and a little more warmth to the room. Smokers in the dining area made dinner a little less enjoyable.
The location is gorgeous. The island is really full of character after the visiting hoards return to the mainland although the few places open for dinner are expensive. The cleaning lady was charming!
We paid for a superior room with a balcony. The first room we were given had a lovely balcony (although no sun shade) but the air conditioning was infected with mould and we had to move out. The next room had a much smaller balcony but was comfortable. We were given no help with our move. The taps run dry on Sundays and another problem with plumbing meant no water another night when we got back from dinner. The hotel restaurant is huge, expensive and they have noisy parties. The hotel was overpriced for all this.
What a wonderful hidden gem on the small island of Isola Superiore dei Pescatori! An oasis of peace & quiet once the last boats leave at 7 p.m., offering gorgeous views on the neighboring Isola Bella as well as the rest of the lake. We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and spoke English well, and even our waiter from a few nights before remembered us and greeted us warmly in the morning of our departure. Our room was very cozy, air-conditioned and had a lovely little balcony (do yourself a favor and book a room with one, it's well worth it). If you stay here (or anywhere in the lake area), you have to eat at the hotel restaurant: the meal was gorgeous from start to finish with lovely service and the best tiramisú I ever had. Tip: If you like furry feline friends, go to the pier/ticket booth early in the morning, and you'll find the cats of the island convening there (as if queuing for tickets). Would go back in a heartbeat!
