THE HOTEL The two grand 19th-century buildings housing the 201-room Nobis Hotel in Stockholm were originally built and used as residential apartments. On the historic Norrmalmstorg Square, the hotel serves as an elegant, contemporary hideaway in Stockholm’s vibrant center and offers guests a scenic launching pad characterized by luxurious Scandinavian design. MADE BY ORIGINALS You wouldn’t expect that the driving force behind the Nobis Hotel is Italian. Alessandro Catenacci, CEO and Director of the Nobis Group, infuses the ambience of a private home, mixed with a Scandinavian sense of luxury, to many of Stockholm’s top restaurants, nightclubs, and hotels. “I sometimes look at myself in the mirror and think, ‘Am I really good at anything, or was it just luck?’” ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN Founded in Stockholm in 1995, award-winning designer and architect trio Claesson Koivisto Rune run a multidisciplinary office with an equal emphasis on both architecture and design. Among their commissions are the Örsta Gallery building in Kumla, the Sfera building in Kyoto, and interiors that include the Operakällaren gourmet restaurant in Stockholm. At Nobis Hotel, they created discreet and calm, yet sharp, contemporary interiors as well as an exclusive range of unique patterns, furniture, and design objects. They chose high-quality natural materials that will age gracefully, such as stone, woods, natural textiles, glass, ceramics, leather, and metals.
