Our room was well equipped. When we arrived we noted a couple of things that were unavailable. We told the lovely staff and these were provided. Our room had a big balcony which easily accommodated 4 people, it has lots of very healthy flowers growing in pots. The weather during our stay was very good, and we were able to have breakfast on the balcony each morning, and sit out on the balcony during the warm evenings. Hotel Paradise is easily situated in a quiet location, close to a Metro station and within easy flat walking distance for the centre of Sofia.

This was the third time that we have stayed at this little hotel. This time we stayed in room 5 (which faces away from the main road and overlooks the schoolyard). This is the smallest of the three rooms that we have stayed in. For a one night stay, near to the central train and bus stations and near to the centre of the city, this is a perfect location. This is not a luxury hotel. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and a small grocery store at the north end of Veslets Street. There is a larger supermarket (Billa) just the other side of Lion Bridge. The internet was fast and free. If you are going to stay for more than one night I would suggest that you opt for a larger room with a desk or table. The Metro is just a very short walk away and with one change you can be at 'Sofia Airport' in just about 20 minutes. We will stay at this hotel each time I have to work in that part of Sofia. So I expect to stay there two or three times a year for the next few years.

The ceiling in this room slopes, so it is not a place for a very tall person (anyone over 2m tall would not be able to stand up near the head of the bed). Also, remember that the stairway to the rooms is very steep. So if you are not able to climb steep stairs this is not for you.

A very small and basic room with no closet and they don't clean or take out the garbage every day. The nice owner knows no English, we heard her daughter knows but we never saw her.

It was 15 min walk from main shopping area. We had a fridge and kitchen facilities, although we didn't use it. We were able to leave our car infront of the property for free with prior arrangement. The lady was nice but didn't speak English.

The room had a funny smell, like cigarette smell. It needed airing. The toilet flush was broken, so we had to keep an eye on it. The wc/bathroom is more of a "wet room". As we stayed 2 nights, we could put up with this easily. The neighborhood in itself it's currently like a building site, but safe enough to walk at night.

This was the second time that we have stayed in this hotel. This time we booked a basic room (Room number 2), which was a medium size double, with a small fridge (also a kettle and cups). The owner definitely has a flair for decorating. Room 2 faces north (away from the main road) and overlooks a schoolyard. The hotel is close to the Metro station "Lion Bridge" (from which you can make an easy transfer to the Sofia Airport). Also, it is close to the main railway station, the international bus station and the intercity bus station.

The only drawbacks, to giving a perfect score, were the slight smell of mildew (from behind the toilet) and that the flush valves on the toilet were missing the buttons so that you have to press the flush stems to flush the toilet (a typical problem in Bulgaria, there seems to be a quality problem with the manufacturing of these devices). If you cannot climb steep steps this is not a place for you to stay. I would imagine that older people (we are only in our late 60's) might find it difficult to navigate the steps to the rooms.
