The bed was comfy.
It wasn't very clean in the hostel in general and no real communal area.

The graffiti walls added a nice touch to share experiences with previous travelers. The location was ideal as cheap to get from train station to their via taxi (and cheap train to airport), it was also only a short walk from metro stations and for people happy to walk a bit further could navigate around the entire city on foot - about 25 minutes to people's Square and 15 minutes to the Bund. From just the end of the road there were great views of the skyline from a cross over bridge.
The room was quite dirty on walls and ceiling, but was cheap to stay so not really an issue. The bedding etc was all super clean though.

I was alone in an en-suite room for two because it was a good price deal. I loved the surroundings. It was close to the Yu Garden but I have actually more enjoyed the immediate surroundings - very local place with narrow streets, markets and no tourists. I got some very well priced tea there and lots of local bakery/fruits. However, it was all very dark, empty and I felt a bit insecure when I cam back after 10pm.
The equipment was just enough - the room was small but sufficient, bathroom OK. All the items looked like they would fall apart at any moment but were still holding together and working - only the towels provided had lots of holes. It was clean though, just very old. The bed was comfortable and not problematic. All in all, OK for just staying there overnight, not if you find enjoyment in the facilities themselves. The reception day staff did not speak English at all. But he had a mobile translator at least.

Decent location, short walk from the Wu Gardens and not far from the Bund. Cheap considering its in Shanghai
Our room (room 8) the male 4 bunk dorm didnt have a key card. The door didnt shut so anybody could walk in and out. Lockers are broken so cannot store your things securely. Pretty sure the two guys who were there with us actually live there, so their things and loads of suitcases cluttered the whole room. Clothes drying all around the room. Place was dirty, very run down, beds were quite dirty. Wifi wasnt ideal in the room Cats roaming around everywhere Staff were pretty oblivious to the poor conditions of the place and request a ¥100 deposit, not sure what for as everything is already broken. So, honestly, from the moment we checked in, we couldn’t wait to check out again.
