It was not our first time at the Hotel Imseng. Saas Fee is really expensive in the winter season, and the hotel is really reasonably priced for its very central location. Of course it is not a luxury accommodation, rather it is a basic and budget option for those that come to Saas-Fee seeking the mountain thrill rather than a spa experience and prefer to spend more time outside the hotel. If viewed as such, the hotel does the job. The owners are extremely friendly, we got driven from and back to the bus stop upon arrival/departure. The room was large with a big balcony, but rather basic. There is a small children play room in the hotel, unfortunately it cannot be used in the evenings though. There is space to store skiing equipment. There is also a bakery/tea room within the premises, the food is quite good. This is also where every morning the unsophisticated but decent breakfast is served.
The hotel is a bit dated and not everything works perfect. For example, none of hairdryers in our room actually worked. Some of the common areas could be cleaner or better maintained. Also, the room lacked tea/coffee making facilities, which to me seems a must in the winter mountain accommodation. When brought it up with the owner in the early evening, they made us tea to bring to our room, which was a very nice gesture. Overall, the hotel may be considered overpriced for the quality provided. However Saas-Fee is expensive and Hotel Imseng is still one of the most reasonably priced options in Saas Fee.
Clean - good location - practical
Big single room with a double bed and own shower.
There is no sauna.
path up from ski room was very steep, if icy this is where you will have an accident. very hot room sometimes the service at the front desk was very slow; the proprietor was more interested in serving people about to sit down with a 5CHF croissant than checking skiers out who has paid 00s CHF and were looking to get on the piste.
